Just need to see some seasonal changes they can carry over into the eternal realm and consistent development of late game. I’m around level 86 on lightning Sorc and am enjoying the season a lot!
Everything in Season of Blood should be added to the game as a permanent fixture one way or another. Hourly roaming zones. Farmable boss materials to run bosses, which themselves drop materials, and ALL of them have a loot table from which specific uniques can be targeted is a return to form. Is it perfect and a viable endgame? No. Is it at least additive and a step in the right direction? Yes. Is it fun? Yes until you reach level 100, have decent enough rolls, have nothing left but Uber Uniques to where grinding boss materials, specifically Living Steel, becomes a chore. Each chest should drop 5, not 3 and be enough for one Grigore summon so that you don't have to grind 600-1200 Cinders every Helltide.
I actually like the new XP trajectory. Less time leveling mains with more time to make another character. It helps a lot with casual players imo. I don't understand not using gear because of the blood added items. The game provides *more than enough* to add what you need/are missing. Open the new chests (green helltide) and you will get plenty!
Hemomancy was so busted I had to stop playing. The entire screen would die when I did anything. Dodge roll? Everything dies. If I use it, it's not fun. If I don't use it, I'm handicapping myself.
we definitely need to remove aspects from the stash. give us that codex upgrade feature. leaving only aspects in stash that are not in the codex. but also... nerf the cost of using codex vs using your own aspect. that codex cost is INSANE.
I know what we need. A castle. Imagine. You’re running down the road to go to the castle, the mobs are patently harder, new mob design, a hard limit on their stats, no scaling, and a completely original dungeon design. Essentially, a raid. Because we’ve leveled and done crap, and farmed, what we need is a zone to overcome. And if it can be uniquely designed and have new mobs then it can be fun. And, for good measure, make and balance it around 2 different sizes. One which is 10 players and another that’s 5.
Helltide should do the rotation like "Green Helltide" does IMO. I've expressed it many times already, but my biggest problem with D4 is that it doesn't allow me to move on my own pace. I'm one of the players with little time in average, and while I'm able to achieve stuff, I hate that I'm time - gated everytime I need materials for sockets f.ex. or living steel, etc. I also agree on leveling up the aspects in Codex. Aspects as they are now are actually preventing me from using new gear in fear of losing a good aspect or a better roll for the same aspect. As for the group play: I'd really love to have kind of like a public game mode or group finder. :S
Forgotten souls are much harder to get for sure. Ive got heaps of everything else and prefer blood harvest or dungens but need to do helltides to get forgotten souls.
1:16:40 holy shit! corpse explosion! who remembers when kripp died from the boss that corpse exploded the other boss! that was like 10 fucking years ago!!!
@@Liword132 In 2022 they rebalanced the entire game to require insane amounts of "layers of defense" stacking which put a chokehold on build diversity. They lost a ton of players because people wanted to just login, drink a beer, and smash some maps after work. The 1% streamers love the game cause they have 800 hours a season to put in but normal players revolted. GGG walked some of it back to try to regain players (and did) but the game is still way harder than it was. All of this is because of Chris Wilson's absurd "vision" for the game he doesn't even play anymore - which is based on trying to capture feelings he had when he was a kid playing D2. I'm worried PoE 2 is going to be fucking dark souls. PoE can be what it wants but the market cap for the game is so small.
Gets angry that game reworks the spell suppression so you can use all three defensives, cant adapt then proceeds to blame the developer, then cries he wants a brain dead cookie clicker game he can play with zero attention basically describing d4. Btw the game is doing the best it ever has based on the player count and the community driven projects like poeninja, pobb, and the such you don't see that for any other AARPG that are missing similar systems or information. Sorry some people want a a little more complexity then a glorified cookie clicker but its also just fine that you wanna come home and not think about a thing, drink your beers, and play cookie clicker mindlessly just sounds like poe isn't the game for you might wanna try out last epoch or D4 that have way less variety but you can drink your beers and go brain dead thinking about nothing but clicking that cookie.
@@chadalpha678 I will, thanks. Signed, someone who has put many hundreds of dollars into PoE. Frankly, the build variety sucks now. You claim it's some cerebral exercise for only the most sophisticated of players but "take every possible defensive option you can" isn't the stimulating build diversity we used to have. You can like what you want and that's totally cool with me - but that's apparently where we differ.
Nerfing levelling and making it slower absolutely no sense. Letting players reach the endgame and start the endgame systems makes more sense. Levelling up is a chore after the first time. And it punishes alts hard. Let us level chars like in poe. Reaching 99 in just above 3h in poe is a breeze on an alt. And it isnt a problem there.
Since most of the vamp powers have 2 effects to them, I think they should've had one effect active with no pact requirement and the stronger half requiring the pacts. That way early on it wouldn't be necessarry to have fully pacted gear, but would still allow some extra things to compliment builds.
@@christophluger793 it's not hard to grind them, no, but when you're making multiple characters to feel out what you actually want to play and one of them is using 11 of one type it can be a little rough.

I'm old enough to remember long before online gaming when you had to go to the store and buy a game cartridge. You would spend your $30, take the game home and beat it in less than a week. Video gaming has never been as high value for your money as it is now.

62 lightning ballz sorcerer. Took me until level 57 to get a gravitational loop aspect... The build is great but I wish the game was more interesting to look at with more refined subtle effects from spells. Just looks a little ehhh when I play.
I like the Season. It’s fun to do the blood area. The problem I have is the skills only go to lvl 3 & apparently you have to lvl them on every toon you make? I assume, after the season is over no future toons can get those skills. So what’s the point?
54:14 D2 DOES have a group finder. The difference is the game is not a open world but instead you make an empty lobby with a name/listing people can search for and join
Great vid. Though at 58:00 I think you missed the "used to be no lifers, but now we are dads" audience. There are alot of us, and we want the same as "the no lifers", even though we cant play as much. More goals to achieve in a season (gear to do bosess so we we can tell out friends: " hey man, i did x boss because i found y item e.g.). So basically less useless offensive stats, that doesn't do anything, where by level 30 you don't even want to look at items anymore. I usually mention Kaom's Heart when trying to describe great itemizaton. Massive benefit with a major trade-off.
No one who plays hardcore actually wants difficult content. They purposefully go out of their way to not do the hardest content possible because of character death risk. It's the most ironic part of gaming. Hardcore by being softcore to avoid risk rofl.
D4 no end game. July 18th killed the game. Constant changes. Cater to casuals. More fun figuring out Cow Level than doing anything else in the game right now
I really want them to rework all the colour systems of the game. I find it very frustrating that quest items / elixirs etc still drop as blue items and get missed as a result because my brain regards blue items as trash after a certain point of progression. Why can't they make them purple or something else. Same with gear. Why does it stay orange throughout various major upgrade during level progression from standard legenday to sacred /ancestral etc. Just make unique frame borders for sacred / ancestral higher level gear if you don't want to use another colour but they all read as the same at a quick glance. I think the UI needs to have a revamp at some point. One annoyance is trying to compare gear and having your stat page open. You can't see your stat page because the gear just sits on top of the interface underneath and cover it up. I would rather then just take a full screen inventory where stats are fixed to the left and I can compare my gear and equip/unequip and see the stats update as I do. Might be a noob problem but it is a really annoying interface to interact with sometimes.
This was a great podcast..it's sad that they only do it once per season, but then again I don't think there's enough to talk about besides that one episode. Still..thanks again!
I feel like they need to update some of the hell tide system to be more similar to the blood tide open world events... it's disappointing to do whispers and hell tides when you compare the rewards from blood tides... (it's far better)
3 things to make this game finally out of early access - proper endgame activity, loot filter and itemization + crafting rework, cause you cant really call slapping random shit on an item 'itemization'
@@DickerehikariDuck it's not "just a game." it's a $70+ product. game companies have become comfortable fleecing everyone because of people like you that think "ahyuck hyuck it's just a vidya game friendo" when the reality is it's a product like any other that people spent hard earned money on. they have a right as consumers to rate it harshly & judge it as they see fit.
My problem with D4 isn't that its a bad game, just that its so uninteresting. They didn't take any risks when making the game, so now when all of the systems are fixed it just feels like a POE with less content and a massively unfun builder/spender system.
We've come to a point with video games in general there's not much innovation to be had. I mean how long has it been honestly since you have had something truly unique in a game? It's all about taking notes on the top games in the genre you're making and implementing those in your game with just enough tweaks to make it seem like you didn't just outright steal it. People are out of ideas it's one reason you see all these damn remakes nowadays and you constantly hear, "another remake?! can't they come out with something original!?" The industry is also full of devs etc. who picked this industry as their career choice when they don't even play games themselves there's no passion anymore and true love for gaming. They never listen to their player base and we have seen countless times us players call out a bug etc. in a game for months sometimes a year or more and when the game is released guess what, still there! I wasn't going to mention this one but the hell with it games have become way too political as well and there's probably all kinds of infighting behind the scenes causing people who do love what they do to start to despise it. No idea why I mentioned all that LOL I guess I just needed to say it but there's just no innovation anymore but I do think the next big frontier in gaming is AI no doubt.
@@ThmsDouglas This is absolutely not true. Maybe for AAA studios, but indie dev teams still massively innovate on the current game climate. For example games like Outer Wilds, Everhood, and Inscryption are all super innovative indie games that have come out in the last few years. Its just these dogshit AAA devs like blizzard that take zero risks. Hell, even Baldurs Gate 3 was pretty innovative and that was from a AA studio.
@@colbyrob4814 I have never heard of those games I'm talking from my point of view I haven't seen anything that didn't bite off something else. Granted it's hard to find innovation like that. If you throw in Indi and AAA games of course I'm sure you will find a few good things but as a whole you don't see much and the Indi games that do as you say how many of those "innovations" will change the way games are made? I'm talking about things that totally change the game.
@@ThmsDouglas there are so many things wrong with not only your statement, but also your mindset, that it would take too long to respond fully. For a super general rebuttal I would say you need to look into how AAA companies come about. They don’t start that way. They start as small companies. Ever heard of Larian Studio? They started with Divinity on kick starter. Now they are arguably one of the most beloved large game studios in existence. Small dev teams absolutely influence the zeitgeist around gaming, the expectations for the market, and also the decisions of larger companies here and soon to come.

I agree on @16:40 as I am good on other materials but always short on veiled crystals... Don't know what it is cause last season I was great with veiled crystals but always short on forgotten souls.
My problem with uniques right now is that you have to sacrifice the legendary powers you might want as well as the unique buff. An example would be like the eaglehorn and it's penetrating shot legendary power that you normally would use on the bow.
They still need to nerf those damn wasps in the dry steppes. Playing Rogue, felt powerful, one death from being stunlocked, instantly owned by one of the wasps that shoots flying enemies.
I think they should definitely have the codex of power just upgrade to the level that you find. And then they can just add more uniques and uber uniques to make the loot find enjoyable. Finding the same legendary items over and over again is not exciting to me. I think every endgame build should be searching for 3 or 4 unique items and the rest can be the codex powers. That way your stash won't fill up with uniques as they are still rare and you would only need one. I also think uniques should be max rolled at the highest level so you are not looking for the same gear again later in the game. If you get the unique you need then you only need one. Then the stash is not overflowing with garbage and the loot hunt is still fun.
What is there to look for then if you have everything once you find it for ever? Uniques always rolling max would be stupid, people would leave after a few days cause there's nothing to chase for. I don't know if there are so many new players in the ARPG genre or only played since D3: RoS.
The aspect/stash problem is really just: a) You need a good roll of the aspect available if you find a better base item. b) There is very little stash space available. c) Technical concerns around increasing stash space. I don't really care how they deal with the problem, but it is absolutely the number one issue keeping me away at the moment. The codex seems the most obvious solution to me, already being an organised storage of aspects - just have it upgrade with what is thrown in. This probably solves stash issues in general since the aspect storing is uses so much of the stash. I get Ziz's argument about finding a perfect roll early and then you're done for that aspect. This does lead the idea of having the codex upgrade imperfectly, so as to still instill an incentive to keep finding aspects, at least for some time. I wasn't keen on Wudijo's idea of small increments, albeit he didn't state necessarily starting from the base - the problem here is that the base roll is so bad that you would still need to keep storing good rolls until you had found enough to upgrade the codex all at once enough to make it worth doing so. A better system would be some percentage of the difference between the current value and the roll being stored - like 65% or something, probably with a minimum increment to stop a limit issue forming.
@@aimerw I will never understand players that demand uneccessary friction insted of actual content to use said gear in instead. Talking about Ziz here. The larger problem with D4 is there is nothing to do with the gear once it is perfect or close to it. Long before then you have done everything and that everything is very little.
Just like PoE leagues I try the season. I enjoy it. But after I have tried it all it gets bit boring fast. Great season. But I have played for 50 hours and I am kinda done now. 50 hours is a week for many. If I get 20-30 hours each season I'm fine with that. Worth it for me. PoE seasons lasts about 50-100% longer for me as the chores takes longer to progress through campaign, all 100 maps and voidstones and everything but the endgame pays off quite solid so it's still worth it wasting all that time.
Exactly that's what I do I play a season until content is done and I'm bored and it's off to the next thing. I personally like this because there's a lot of good games out there I can play and when a new season drops I'll get back into it.
Turn off trading = no need to load all player stashes. Create a trade broker = each item put on there would have a masterserver-ID-number = no more development fear from duplication AND a happy playerbase. WTF Blizzard.
On the topic of the future of Diablo from 1:41:25 onwards, the game is somewhat based on the Abrahamic mythology so whichever future there will be, it will be somewhat connected to the that. Diablo, Mephisto, Baal, Malthael, Tyrael and most of the characters from the franchise are based on the mythology of those religions so whichever future the game will have, it'll be based on those books.
1:50 Blizzard does not give a single fuck about their pre-established lore for Diablo. They will absolutely retcon anything at anytime if they think it would look cool.
What I would love but probably impossible is seasonal characters kept the seasonal powers in the eternal realm. Wonder why they're so good? Had to be there
This has been a very enjoyable discussion. I'm the bridge of hard-core and casual. I'm also a life long fan. I remember how bad d3 was at launch. As meh as d4 was at launch it was way better than d3. I play this game with lifelong friends. We will play this game until d5. Not religiously but we will reconnect with each other over this game in the coming years. Season 2 feels good. Certain parts suck (farming boss mats) but who cares if it easy.... it's supposed to be fun. Slaying thousands of bad guys is fun. It's why we play. I don't play dark souls or elden ring for a reason. The only really hard thing about diablo 2 when it came out was putting a skill point in the wrong thing when you were 14 yrs old and ruining the character
Nah trading is huge. Economy of d2 was amazing. They want to make money though and not allow credit farmers to make money, lol. They should implement a forum code / trading system. A way to limit trading to authorized forums and keep cheating and duplicating in check.
Ziz let’s not underestimate the casual player, I am casual I follow twitter devs account, I watch videos about D4, we are not people just on our sofa and console controller
I hate the meme that casual players love the game. I'm casual and I think the game is 6/10 at best, it has a lot of issues. The people that love the game as it is just have low standards, there's a big difference
Games better. Ill even say its fun. If you already paid for it, then its in your best interest to actually experience the seasonal mechanics. Just dont preorder or buy something from blizzard day 1 moving forward. Thats how you change them. I want the game to get better. I paid 70$ so it does just that.
Playing with controller vs keyboard is so different... like weapon swap barb you can use bash and upheaval without having to click on a mob so you can prep deathstrike for bosses. Also experienced this with druid claw bulward build. Use claw without attacking enemies to reset bulward cooldown, cant do that with mouse and keyboard....
For the 'is it worth it?' question. Keep in mid that a week worth of entertainment for these guys entails pretty much playing the game as an active job and min/maxing it to a decently high degree. For a true casual, they would double, triple or even quadruple the amount of hours needed to get their level of progress. Especially non-gamers who casuals who play 2-4 games per year.

How Kripp described what he wants from Uniques is how I feel about Razorplate
Kripp is still slaving away playing Hearthstone 10 years later LUL
How long can this go on...
Yeah wish he did a non-HS channel. Just so I could subcribe to him. Dont want my sub page flooeded with videos I dont watch :(
I would say the perfect group to have in a podcast would be wudijo, asmon, kripp and rexx instead of ziz
You could see the pain in Wudi’s eyes when that dude decided to do nothing with Andariels Visage
Forgotten souls are much harder to get for sure. Ive got heaps of everything else and prefer blood harvest or dungens but need to do helltides to get forgotten souls.
Holy shit... I've never seen someone that is just soo blind and dont care about anyone else than Ziz
1:16:40 holy shit! corpse explosion! who remembers when kripp died from the boss that corpse exploded the other boss! that was like 10 fucking years ago!!!

@@TheMortiaris I consider myself a normal person and I have no clue what you mean by poe being destroyed tbh
And it isnt a problem there.
hardcore players chatting about a casual game, lol
Since most of the vamp powers have 2 effects to them, I think they should've had one effect active with no pact requirement and the stronger half requiring the pacts. That way early on it wouldn't be necessarry to have fully pacted gear, but would still allow some extra things to compliment builds.
It's so easy to get everything required, you get so many pact thingys and the alcohol in blood harvest.

Now, you spend your money on an online game and can potentially receive months of entertainment while receiving patches of additional content free of charge. Video gaming has never been as high value for your money as it is now.
Maybe they can't do leaderboards because every time you open tem, it loads 1000 people's stashes
Anyone else having trouble finding Angelbreath for enchants, fiend roses were pretty easy to farm, but Angelbreath are almost non-existent in my game. I really hope they don't nerf summons again, really not having to use up skill points to make summon able to engage in boss battles.
Hey the graphics are nice. So if you like that thing thats a plus.
its a podcast about how the game is for ppl who have nothing else to do but play video games. If you have fun playing D4 just keep playing it dont mind it.
Hoping they invite Quinn, Josh S.H., Darth Microtransaction, Rax, and LazyPeon next time for a 6hrs podcast. I love it. The knowledge of this four about D4 is oozing. Nice!
Quinn is annoying
62 lightning ballz sorcerer. Took me until level 57 to get a gravitational loop aspect... The build is great but I wish the game was more interesting to look at with more refined subtle effects from spells. Just looks a little ehhh when I play.
I wish you could customize the color of your skills. I want purple lightning from my shock skills.
I like the Season. It’s fun to do the blood area. The problem I have is the skills only go to lvl 3 & apparently you have to lvl them on every toon you make? I assume, after the season is over no future toons can get those skills. So what’s the point?
The point is playing the season. The starting over each one is part of the experience
Take out ancestral and sacred gear just make it legendary and harder to come by.

1:34:34 Asmon, your missing out on 6 powers, lots of gear chance, easy rep for the board, AND most importantly, 1 UBER BOSS
One streamer to react to them all, One streamer to find them, One streamer to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.
No one who plays hardcore actually wants difficult content. They purposefully go out of their way to not do the hardest content possible because of character death risk. It's the most ironic part of gaming. Hardcore by being softcore to avoid risk rofl.
Thats a big line up off peeps with some very decent ARPG knowledge.Would love some deep crafting system, runes, harder boss modes. Its getting there.
D4 no end game. July 18th killed the game. Constant changes. Cater to casuals. More fun figuring out Cow Level than doing anything else in the game right now
Casuals lives matter
Still..thanks again!
i never watch twitch, only yt asmon
one thing they could add is a sort by (x) option in the stash for example sort by aspect type
16:00 you’re crazy, i have so many of those additive sigils that whatever is on the gear doesn’t matter.
1:49:08 what if they made glyphs ranged. That's nobody gets the same glyph drop. That would make endbuilds very diverse.
Ziz has some serious L takes lmao
I feel like they need to update some of the hell tide system to be more similar to the blood tide open world events... it's disappointing to do whispers and hell tides when you compare the rewards from blood tides... (it's far better)
My one advice i wish they would implement is in your hall of fallen heroes i wish they would show clips of how you died for each of your heroes!
That would be pretty cool.
lol, imagine all the clips from deaths by disconnects ... sure that would be awesome ^^
Asmon: D4 bad!!!
Also Asmon: I enjoyed the season, it was fun. Reached level 100 in "2 days" - i like.
I’m a level 60 barbarian concentrating on berserking and I pretty much one shot anything with abilities.
3 things to make this game finally out of early access - proper endgame activity, loot filter and itemization + crafting rework, cause you cant really call slapping random shit on an item 'itemization'
It would be good if they made it good. Food for thought
Good if true
What's the reason for them to make it bad?
@@cinecastmediaincompetence and greed

@@christophluger793 They already are. The game is made for Uber casuals playing a couple hours max a week.
I agree just bring back the kunai cube there fixes build issues
The aspect/stash problem is really just:
a) You need a good roll of the aspect available if you find a better base item.
b) There is very little stash space available.
c) Technical concerns around increasing stash space.

"There's too much to do" plays 3 hours a week. It's always one or the other.
I don't see how 3 month seasons are good for casuals.
Arpgs have never been for casuals in the last 10 years
Casuals play the campaign and probably leave it at that. If you don't want to invest time don't play it.
I personally like this because there's a lot of good games out there I can play and when a new season drops I'll get back into it.
i loved D3 and its sets
Turn off trading = no need to load all player stashes. Create a trade broker = each item put on there would have a masterserver-ID-number = no more development fear from duplication AND a happy playerbase. WTF Blizzard.
I’m so sick of helltides. I said screw it and now I just buy all my Duriel runs. 15M per run is not bad.
What about Uber Legion events? Basically Legion events but instead of dungeon bosses, you would have campaign bosses besides Lilith.

It is crazy to be 1 week into S2 release of the season and you guys are seemingly done with it. Is that what you like? Want?
Turn the vampiric powers into legendary gear and weapons , uniques and armor sets for each class and give ppl something to grind for

For the 'is it worth it?' question. Keep in mid that a week worth of entertainment for these guys entails pretty much playing the game as an active job and min/maxing it to a decently high degree.
