- The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence launched a £1.6 billion competition to acquire three new Fleet Solid Support ships that will keep the Royal Navy two new aircraft carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales full of supplies while at sea.
A competition to build three new Fleet Solid Support ships to provide vital support to Royal Navy operations across the world has been launched.

If you don't ask other countries to tender the UK based shipbuilders will inflate the price, competition is good but UK should always be chosen unless they are taking the piss on price.
Bae, hold my drink we have this.
If UK unions want guarantees that things will be built at home, they need to lift their game and stop acting like they own the workers. They need to learn to work with companies rather than against them.
I love Great Britain living in the United Kingdom is a privilege I'm British born British bread and I'm happy to stay that way until I'm dead after years and years and years of budget cuts and shrinking in size to something that could not even martial a paddling pool never mind international territory so watching content like this makes me feel good and think positive thoughts thank thank you to the Channel
Totally agree at last Boris is getting it right cut back Foreign Aid and invest in the Navy.
@@johnholt9399 not really. I agree with spending more on the Royal Navy, but I don’t agree with cutting the foreign aid budget.
🍞
@@aaronthebest5519 the Royal Navy is to protect and serve the best needs and interests of the United Kingdom now we are no longer part of the European Union we have to stand on her own two feet a strong Navy is essential and the UK has always supported and donated to foreign aid there's just so much foreign aid needed there's only so much UK can do worry about your own until you're able to worry about others
@@michaelkerr2005 I know, I always think they’re should be more spending for the Royal Navy. However, foreign aid should, if anything, be increased. Hundreds of thousands of people across the globe use the money we give them on food, shelter, etc...
Your clearly not seeing the bigger picture. The United Kingdom is a leading aid giver. This massively helps out the U.K, as in return to aid for their citizens, these countries will form close alliances with us, allow us to create military bases there, etc... It’s a win win.
You have a lot of good content but this title is misleading. The contracts for the ships have not even been awarded yet so they sure can't have been launched. The title should be "The MOD announces competition for three new fleet support ships."
My thoughts exact
How can they be launched, before construction??????????????????????????????
RFA: unsung hero's.
Just make sure they are built in the United Kingdom
A video demonstrating how to repeat the same points multiple times.

An army marches on it's belly - Napoleon. A navy is no different, they need support ships
Not a very good example to use, "La Grande Armee" starved, and froze to death, on their return trip from Russia!
@@steve55sogood16 They were over 200 thousand French in Spain that were Sent packing by the British, Portuguese and Spanish army's and that was done buy hard fighting and not an act of mother nature The disaster of Russia 1812 is a tad over played sometimes by Military historians in the down fall of Napoleon
@@daniellastuart3145 So the loss of of over 500,000 troops,of various denominations, in battle, and retreat, was of little consequence? I think not, and surely the question of an "army marching on it's belly", was the point in question, not the fighting on the Iberian peninsula?
They should be built by uk ship builders not in foreign countrys
they're only auxiliary ships
Just love your videos, your information and The Royal Navy. Many thanks! Regards from Br.
good news
Great vid great backing track 👍🏻
If an EU shipyard gets this contract I will be livid. Keep these skills, jobs and tax receipts here in the UK.
They have made it clear these ships will be built in the UK. The only 'foreign' involvement is in one of the two teams bidding: 'Team Resolute' is a partnership between Harland & Wolff (now owned by Infrastrata Plc), naval architects BMT and Spanish shipbuilders, Navantia. They will use Navantia to upskill the Belfast workforce where the ships would be built and BMT will modify a base Navantia design.
The other bidders are 'Team UK' which is the all-British consortium of BAE Systems, Babcock, Cammell Laird and Rolls Royce.
Both will present difficult political decisions.
@@1chish will Pete Macintosh be in charge again? Lovingly known as “Mac the Knife” for the generous way he dealt with his engineering and technical staff when he was MD of FSL in the early noughties.
Please dear god, don’t let them be built in Korea!
@@PhilbyFavourites No idea but he sounds like my kind of manager! 😂
They will all be built here. That decision has already been made.
@@1chish harsh 🤓.
He was known for going around on the night shifts and hooking the fitters out of their cosy little billets, fast asleep while they should have been working, then P45 in the morning…
@@PhilbyFavourites Hah! Good man 👍
Hopefully the ships can be built in the UK, but any bid must be competitive compared to foreign bids
Let's hope its English shipyards build them, not Scotland.
Nah supporting the union is the best way forward. Why seek division?
@@olijames8160 Build them in Wales, Keep England out of the RN.
@@olijames8160 for years they haven’t wanted us - and in truth we don’t want them…

Not launched won't be until 2032, misleading title.... clickbait
No foreign ship builder's. Made in Britain only.
What's with the background music as if these vessels of war are for going on holiday 🤣
Providing social value? I hope that means GOOD value
I think they mean Companies submitting bids will be expected to give consideration to jobs creation, workforce training, and contributions to carbon emission reduction targets.
@@1chish I was afraid that it might imply that.
My dad worked on the old RFA he said the royal navy loved it on board there ship when they came aboard become they had a better bar no limits 😂
That's when RFA stood for Refuge For Alcoholics.
@@gledhill4911 haha will have to tell me dad that 👍
Hope you ll have a safe time at sea take care stay safe best wishes Lyn ❤️
misleading title
I was expecting to see ships launching not the start of the project, good news though it is.
I hope they're to be built in England. The SNP separatists cannot be relied upon. Tyne and Wear anyone?
We need more submarines of the Dreadnaught class, more Destroyers of the new Type 83 class, two more carriers capable of launching non VTOAL aircraft and at least 20 frigates. In addition we need to order our own sixth get fighters and restart the Harrier program with a modern supersonic version, all designed, engineered and built in the UK, without Scottish yards if needs be.
We are buying F35 so no harrier replacement will ever happen. Tempest is the way forward.
So English Exceptionalism wants a Hermit Kingdom of Little England? You are a sad silly waste of space.
I’ll cheer when the keels are laid down so far all I have heard is speculation and and we have no idea what they will look like and I’m not interested in what Bojo said when he was PM
i just want to see who wins this contract for the 3 new supports ships, i cant see it being babcock as they have the T31 and T32 to build and bae have the first batch of T26 then both companies have the new trident submarines to build then bae proberly get 2nd batch of T26. i can see this going to another shipyard with foreign company but built in uk
Should have built the original 6 planned Victoria class, with refits, this would not have been an issue for another 20 years! In my uneducated opinion of course.
Jesus christ no. Fort Victoria is a nightmare ship.
I know, now we've got two aircraft carriers (with only 1 having aircraft) we'll launch a competition to build supply ships for them! Maybe Chinese or Russian state companies can put in submissions?
Don't be silly!! they'd sink HA ha.
British Naval ships look like they arent armed.
They are ships of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary service. They only carry defensive weapons. CWIS, 20mm & mini guns usually only when deployed.
Start asking to take work from Bae
Meow
The uk government spent 37 billon pounds on covid track and trace, Which doesn't work. One queen Elizabeth 5th gen aircraft carrier cost 3 billion pounds. We could have build 12 Queen Elizabeth 5th gen aircraft carrier's with that money! Think about that
would never in a million years be able to crew them though, id be happy with 5 more frigates and another 4 destroyers.... but the numbers of crew aren't there to support them
Dude I've seen you in the comments section of two different Royal Navy videos now saying exactly the same thing... Have you nothing better to do? Stop being so negative because its really not a good personality trait. It baffles me that people like yourself can sit here and somehow manage to twist even the most positive things into something to moan about and criticise!! Have some optimism for goodness sake. There really is just no pleasing some people I guess... Wow.
You’d be better thinking about 14 billion per annum we were spending on foreign aid under Cameron and May at least Boris has reduced that nonsense.
And how much to maintain and equip with aircraft?
Our survey said,,, ruh urrrghh
why oh why do does the narrative keep repeating itself!
i would build new works to build ship for uk.not to scotland they dont want to be united kingdom
A Little Englander and no doubt Breitard who wants to break up the UK. go for it,
@@benwilson6145 piss of scotland want to leave uk,so we should take all government contracts to the uk
Ordering the bare minimum. not good. over stretching everything as per norm. hopefully all British tenders!! nothing else should be considered. we still have a mountain to climb to become a dominant power anywhere. too little and taking to much time.
The 80th anniversary of the sinking of HMS HOOD on Monday 24th. May. Support the church service!!!
