Ayasa is using a 5 string violin. Japan just keeps supplying us with great music. I saw Wakazaemon here in Atlanta last month. She is the bassist for Marty Friedman when he tours the US. Thanks for the reaction.
East of Eden us probably my favorite band right now outside of Band-Maid. Their entire debut album is great, and they have MVs of 'This Moment' and 'Hanabi." Both are well worth reacting to.
There is a big Band Maid connection with the lead singer Akane Minato she was in a band called Mochi to cheese with Akane Hirose and Kanami from band maid akane Minato was from idol group predia which was under the same management co. As band maid and there's some other stuff in that camp Akane Minato is great
I LOVE this band. easily the best thing that came out of 2023 for me. I cannot listen to them enough. I love all 5 tracks on their EP. it's amazing. Since you liked this, I think you will love the MV for 花美 Hanabi (hah-nah-bee) fantastic song and video with some live footage. I don't think they have released live sound yet, they performed a few shows last fall IRRC and they were well received, they are all superstars. this is another band that I am rooting for to soar and take off. I was worried they would be a one-song niche kinda sound after hearing their first track (this MV Evolve) but every song is something I really love. I hope you'll react to Hanabi, it's an outstanding song and MV. I cannot say enough positive about all 5 of them, I already knew 4 of them from prior to the formation of East of Eden last year, but it was such a joy to get to know Ayasa, the violinist. She's so talented and breathtakingly beautiful too. I am all in on this band. I don't think you mentioned Akane's vocals much, I fell in love more and more with her vocals and style with each song and listen. She has a refreshing and unique sound, style and range.
I really enjoy East of Eden the violin adds a lot. If you want violin with metal, Check out Unlucky Morpheus. You've already seen Fuki, the lead singer, in Doll$box.
This is (as of late 2023) new supergroup. Most of the members have roles with other bands, so it’s not clear this is more than a project, but we’ll see. What we’ve seen so far is spectacular. The hook? This is a metal band built around a violinist. Ayasa plays a custom five-string violin, which I’d say is metal. She is also the founder of the band. Ok, you covered some of this in your research, but in case any viewers are interested, here is the brief background on the band: Personnel: Violin: Ayasa (currently with Morphonica) Guitar: Yuki (founder and co-lead in D-Drive) Bass: Wakazaemon (bassist with Marty Friedman and other projects) Drums: Mizuki (Lonesome Blue) Vocals: Akane Minato (x Predia, several other groups) They have posted three songs in very different styles so far, all showing off great songwriting, jedi-level mastery of their instruments, and Akane’s powerful vocals. They have also issued their first EP. Definitely a band to watch!
Amazing talent and skill from these ladies. Love the trade off between violin and guitar, incredible vocals and drums. Wakazaemon is a beast on bass, she reminds me some of Haru from Bridear, who,I say, is “dancing to the music in her head” while slaying the bass line.
Great track. Love all the instruments and vocals. Love the "discussion" between the violin and guitar. Yuki the guitarist is a fantastic guitarist and I love D_DRIVE and her work with them, but kind of hoping her work here with a band with vocals will garner her more exposure
Ayasa also plays for the band 'Morfonica', one of 9 (i think) groups of singers and bands who are musicians and voice actors for the 'Bang Dream' franchise of anime series and video games, they also do live shows, another one worth checking out is 'Raise A Suilen"
Super band to the core! Each elements of the music is brought by a really skillful individual. This first song of theirs here is a strong statement that they are a new band to be reckoned with. Thanks for the reaction guys. I hope you react to two more MVs of this band. And... Mari Hamada's 'Tomorrow Never Dies' too 😁
kind of a japanese female supergroup if you will. ayasa is the violinist from MORFONICA. mizuki is the drummer from LONESOME BLUE. guitarist yuki from D-DRIVE and bassist wakazaemon from quite a few different collaborations. rounding it out is vocalist akane who is from PREDIA and played with BAND MAID members drummer akane and guitarist kanami in a group called MOCHI TO CHEESE. these ladies have been around a minute.
It's very common in Japan for them to do short versions of their singles, I guess for broadcast on radio stations. But I'll stick with the long versions. How good they are and what a wonderful use of the violin. I had already seen metal bands with violin, such as Unlucky Morpheus or Blackthorn, but this is another level.
I love the violin in metal, particularly when folk elements are introduced along with the classical. This song is a great example - for me it's that beautiful intro that makes it stand out - but I think you've also heard Jil from Unlucky Morpheus, and the clean vocalist of Ne Obliviscaris (Australian band) is also a fantastic violinist. And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope is a masterpiece.
Good reaction. Great band and song. Loved them immediately hearing the song. They have a few great songs on their UA-cam channel. Great musicians and love the singers voice. Their songs “This moment” and “Hanabi” are great songs to react to. Thanks for this reaction.
Even though she might be a little bit low in the mix here, the good Wakazaemon seems to be quite a monster on her bass. 🤭 These ladies have my full attention and I'm very excited to see what else comes from them in the future. Their songs so far are all pretty awesome and my ears like the balance between the different parts of this band. 🎻🤘🏻 _____________________ _"America invented rock. England improved it. Ayasa has 5 strings giving her violin the added sound of a viola. Waka is left handed bass player. LOVE them all GREAT TALENT I hope they keep their records at 5 songs . All very good sounds. No need to add fillers
also to note Lonesome Blue had much of their lyrics helped by Asami of Lovebites and feature the guitarists who played with Haruna and Miho of Lovebites in their previous band Destrose. Narumi
Not only Asami (who wrote the lyrics for their EP - but not for the album as she was buzy with Lovebites again) but also Mao (co-composer of many Lovebites songs) who is the main Lonesome_blue composer (as for East Of Eden).
You guys know? There was a band called East of Eden in the 60. East of Eden was a rockband, formed 1967 by Dave Arbus (Violine, Saxofon, flute, trumpet, vocals) and Ron Caines (sax, Piano) in Bristol (England).
My co-Song-of-the-Year for 2023! Fantastic performances by every member of this new supergroup...and that hook! Fun story: Earlier today, I caught an afternoon show up here in Sapporo by a sort of pick-up band project that included EoE drummer Mizuki. They played mostly covers, including my other Song-of-the-Year, Hitsujibungaku's masterpiece "More Than Words." So the drummer on one SotY was playing the _other_ SotY!
It's apparent you haven't seen Unlucky Morpheus. Their violinist Jill is definitely a match for Ayasa, if not even better. They are just about the only band out there who can be considered technical peers of Lovebites, and their vocalist actually has sonic similarities to Minato-san here in East of Eden. Check out "Angreifer", live. ua-cam.com/video/gGKWgM4IOgc/v-deo.html.
Excellent group with well produced video, Big question? With their ties to so many other groups individually will they ever tour as a live concert super group?
Hi from France: Speaking of violinists in the rock world, have you heard bands from the 70s like the English King Crimson (David Cross) or the French Magma (Didier Lockwood)? They weren't soft musicians, far from it... But also someone like Jean-Luc Ponty (who had even played with Franck Zappa)... And also of course the prog rock band East of Eden who also had among his staff a violinist... But you are perhaps a little too young to have known this references...
Awesome reaction, guys. Do check out the other bands these ladies are involved with. Mizuki's Lonesome Blue has a song featuring Ayasa, "Parallel World." In case you missed it, Ayasa's violin has an extra string for lower notes. Ayasa has been in the rock scene for a while, so those familiar with her wouldn't be so surprised at her founding a rock band. She is also a member of the rock band Morfonica in the BanG Dream! anime and video game franchise. Another Lonesome Blue song I recommend is "Welcome to Heavenly Secret Base." If you want to check out more rock and metal music with violin, check out Unlucky Morpheus and soLi. soLi is an instrumental symphonic metal project by Babymetal guitarist ISAO (8-string guitar) and violinist Saori Hoshino. Musicians on other instruments vary by song and live performance, but Babymetal bassist BOH participated on "Opening Gambit": ua-cam.com/video/uN5IK17KzRc/v-deo.html.
If you want to see more violin and other band to check out is Unlucky Morpheus. Violin has to compete with two guitarists so is less front and center than East of Eden though. But you do get Fuki from Dollsboxx as singer in return.

I’d listen to anything Yuki plays.
Look for the D_Drive band. Yuki's number one band. ;)
@@szabotamas68I've been listening to them for about two years now. That's how I know to single out Yuki.

Vocalist was also in a band called Mochi To Cheese with both Akane Hirose and Kanami Tono from a little group called Band Maid.
Irony intent.
Obviously. 😂. Only five of them left.
@@bryandevito5120 'from a little group called Band Maid.' - this was the irony in my opinion. (little group)
