Jack Nicklaus has been my biggest sports hero. I just wish that I could have been born in 1957 instead of 1967. I do not remember all his great victories. However, I do remember watching the 86 Masters the greatest sporting event I ever witnessed,
I had the great experience of getting to know the family as a member of the Ohio State Men's Varsity Golf Team. Gary had such a striking resemblance to his father, and possessed the same great action. Will always remember as we were playing our final round of college qualifying in 88 and on the 9th tee Gary said Dad is gonna try to get out and see us play on the back nine. Sure enough on the back of the ninth green Jack and his friend Pandel Savic were waiting for us as we approached the green and followed us the entire way, sharing stories, advice, and all in all great companionship. There is not a greater man in sport today, or maybe ever.
What a role model to have growing up. Nicklaus is not only the best or 2nd best of all time depending on your opinion, but the way he conducts himself on the course, and in interviews etc, is really inspiring and aspirational.
People today are always saying athletes shouldn't be role models, and today's athletes often say they don't WANT to be role models. But look what happens when a great athlete is also a great father, a great husband, and just a very good man in life. I've watched Nicklaus since he blew the 1960 US Open as an amateur. The greatest golfer, and one of the best men I've ever seen in 60+ years.. Kids need role models like this man.

the difference is that in golf, u are measured historically by majors. Thats becaue the mental grind required to win a major is daunting. Greatness is determined by how many times u can push your mind and body to the limit for 4 days of competitive golf.

He has set the bar pretty high as to what a man can accomplish, in Sport, Business, and most important as a Father and Husband. Plus look at all the thrills and goose bumps he gave us on the golf course. What an example he set. No, Not ALi, but Jack Nicklaus is "The Greatest".

Plus Jack Won 8 Senior tour MAJORS!!! not just tournaments but senior Majors ,At 73 and admitidly out of shape can still hit it 270 with the driver....Will Tiger be playing at 40 with his injurred legs...Jack has longevity over tiger hands down...
The point is you should not cheap on your wife it is disrespectful, you don't have to get married, but as Chris rock said a man is as faithful as his options, and tiger had options none truly know what they would do in that situation, but would like to think that you could and would be.
dont forget that jack took a back seat to Arnold palmer his entire life....for no reason...he was twice the golfer arnold was and by all accounts a better man...jack only gets his due ironically because of tiger woods....
Hey Bueno, im a Tiger fan, I was referring to Tiger should copy Phils personality traits , that is: smile a little more, talk to the gallery, have some humility, rather than act like he wants to not only beat you but cut your heart out. Really most people loved Tiger before the scandel, but he was his own worst enemy. Ive seen some changes in thee last 6 months for the better with Tiger, I hope they continue. And yes he is a sex addict, and it is a spiritulal sickness. Do some research on it.

I began playing golf in April of 1971, when Jack was on top and climbing higher. I patterned my swing after his. He was great then, and is the greatest now. In all these years, I have never heard of him cheatin' on his wife. Tiger, you need to work on yourself...
