The brought me to tears. Even on mediocre macbook speakers and youtube compression I can hear how beautiful this recording is and I can't wait to put in on the real speakers.
Just after the 7:53 mark, the funky-ass section begins, and in Live at Pompeii (and most live recordings played after the Meddle LP) Roger plays some extra notes on the bass that makes that entire section EXTRA funky. The Live at Pompeii version is hands down the best performance of Echoes, and Roger "funkin' up" the baseline during that section is the standout reason it's so great. This guy on bass played it very well but didn't play a few extra notes in this, he got close but I was like "Aww, man why?". It's difficult to explain, and this guy on bass did a great job I just expected him to play it like Roger did in Pompeii. Seriously, search "Echoes Part 1 Live in Pompeii" and go to about the 7 minute mark. As soon as the funky section begins pay close attention to Roger. You'll almost instantly know EXACTLY what notes I'm talking about. I assure you it's worth it, it's quite possibly my favourite live performance Pink Floyd ever played. -
Very impressive staging with the close to the original PA speakers and amps Pink Floyd used at the Pompeii film. The added musician on guitar makes the performance sound nicer. Being on an open field made the sound travel out then what the Pompeii acoustics bouncing all around. But also the Pompeii recording was nicely done due to the acoustics of that building structure and some windy conditions.
Wow, this is so sweet. Awesome cover. I am jealous! Been teaching this song to have a jam with people for 25 years. One of my first Gilmour solos I figured out on my own. Love jamming the funky part. Excellent tone from everyone. Drummer was great; even with what is maybe a third of the size kit Mason was using. 😄 Keys were on point! Bass too. Excellent work.
I'm glad you liked it. It was such fun having a team like that play through the rig. The drummer is Ewan Cunningham - a really amazing musician. He has his own channel ua-cam.com/users/ewanjohncovers
Arn’t they great! Such wonderful musicians. Everyone that day was ace, every camera operator, sound engneer, catering etc. It’s very rare to have everyone around to be ace - but this day…they were! Glad you enjoyed it. A day I’ll never forget
Really glad you enjoyed it :) it was such a great day filled with positive people - everyone, from band, crew, equipment owners, just gave there time for free to make them amazing event happen!
Ah, so this is essentially the Australian Pink Floyd Show performing with Ewan Cunningham guesting on drums! Bravo! I find that Paul Bonney (the band's drummer) didn't quite get the feel right with this song (particularly at the start of the final verse), but Cunningham has nailed it! I'm not aware of the current line up of TAPFS having played "Echoes" post-2013, so hearing Chris Barnes and David Domminney Fowler singing dual lead vocals is nice.
Yes there is a lot of one particular band with a single different performer ;) Ewan is AMAZING - I did an interview with Ewan a little while after this incase you wanted to see the man the myth the legend in conversation in with me ua-cam.com/video/7jHVslAWxqU/v-deo.html
A Decent cover. I'll stick with the (( REAL THING )) Be YOURSELF !! Go for it !! The WORLD NEEDS FRESH, NEW Unreal Music!! Now more than EVER !! Peace !!
What could go wrong with multi-instrumenalist Ewan Cunningham in the line up? Alltime favourite - fine done with two guitars. David Gilmour even did NOT his great solo in the beginning.
Really faithful tones from all instruments. The singing part of this song always sounds so sad I can never get enough of it.
This is one of the best tributes to Pink Floyd that I have seen..........Ever!!!
The brought me to tears. Even on mediocre macbook speakers and youtube compression I can hear how beautiful this recording is and I can't wait to put in on the real speakers.
There's no smoking Mount Vesuvius but there is a commendable 1972 Pink Floyd tribute here ... 💪🙏
Not sure why this has recently popped up on my radar, but so glad it did, Many thanks Guys!
You guys nailed it. I have nothing but mad respect for this performace.
That's a RIG. Extraordinary commitment to the cause and great performance
Chris Hewitt has an amazing collection. I'm just so glad I was able to be a part of this event. Glad you enjoyed
W O W ! ! ! ! . . . and in another 50 years they will STILL be playing this!!!!!

A Labour love,,,,what was the effect on the white guitar to GT the screaming with the tone control ?
Hey Mind if I ask what delay/ fuzz you used? The lead sounds nuts 🤩
Where did you get all those WEM cabs?
They are owned by Chris Hewitt. His website is chvintageaudio.com/
