  • We have a Strike King Writers Conference and I finally got the OK to show a new lure we have designed. It's the first video ever to come out on it and we catch some big ones on it. The beginning is me figuring out whether or not I should throw it or not.

    But, for real I like the hybrid hunter!
    I’ve been using it at night time on lights Todd, creeping it through submerged green lights trying to keep it 6” - 1’ under the surface when I see bass cruising through the light close to the surface.

    Well, what's old is new again. I can't get a real good look at the bill of that new crankbait. I would ask is it fixed or does it spin around the hook shaft? The bait reminds me of the Spence Scout lure strike king made years ago. Did anyone at Strike King mention that to you? Just wondering. Does the lure have a lot of thump I't reminds me of the Dance'n Eel lure that had a plastic tail attached...

    • @toddcastledinefishing5924
      @toddcastledinefishing5924  4 роки тому

      I remember the old scout I actually threw it a bit. I the scout had more of a wake bait bill that had more of a scoop bill. This is an
      L-bill shape that actually goes almost straight down then goes horizontal. Go check out the Fishing the Hybrid Hunter, the thumbnail shows a great unclose picture of it. Yes it has a thump but not because of the tension of the bill but how it runs through the water.

    • @bigdadace8588
      @bigdadace8588 4 роки тому

      @@toddcastledinefishing5924 I watched those videos, yes sir. I am formally from central Florida and being from Fl I noticed you get some bites almost like worming the lure. I Have had success doing that on Lake Toho with a Bagley Balsa B crank over Hydrilla on days the fish would not run down a rattle trap. So I guess the bill is a fixed bill and the roundness of it helps it swim through weeds. I would have loved to have had a crankbait like lure that you could pause over Hydrilla to maybe trigger bites. A swimbait goes thru the weeds ok but disappears into the weeds when you kill it so I think fish give up and turn away at that point. Good fishing to you sir...

    • @toddcastledinefishing5924
      @toddcastledinefishing5924  4 роки тому

      The bill is not more weedless it keeps the bait on a horizontal level, that makes it not dive down in the grass as much. This bait is so buoyant that it actually wants to float out of the grass on its own. I do worm it through the grass only because the grass is so close to the surface, but 90% of your hits like that occur on the pause. This is why rod selection is so important when fishing it this way.

      @@toddcastledinefishing5924 I told the wife that is where I wanted to fish for my 75 birthday. She called and they didn't sound to accomadating, must have to be somebody or know somebody. I watched online The Hack just creamed them with a frog a couple of years back. Just found your site a couple of weeks ago, your doing a great job keep it up. The one thing few talk about is what type structure and cover your fishing. That'd help the High Schoolers and the College Boys connect better. You should ask your viewers to share their most challenging tournament they won and how they won it. Mine was T-Bend in the Houston Bass Club back in '78 or '79. The lake was 10 feet high water all up in the people that live there's ponds. All the bass for a weekend pounder seemed to have moved 20-30 feet back up in timber way out of reach with all the buck brush and the previous years growth. Finally came up with a plan, straight worm (back then that was a Creme Scoundrel) with a 1/2 ounce sinker pegged. No braid and all I had with me was 17lb mono. Braid didn't exist yet. I cast them into the tops of trees as far back as I could throw it. Jiggled it down through the tree, and started smacking the water yo-yo ing it. We won the tournament had to have two limits 20 fish. We culled every skeeter knocker we had caught, and already had double limits. We went to weigh in with over 64 lbs first day. Second place team only had 35. Me and my buddy named that tournament HANG EM HIGH. Throw um in there get em on, crank them up out of the water and then let that big Mercury go in and get them. A few new scratches, but do you wanna win - right?
      Thanks again for all your hard work. And best of luck to you the rest of the year.
