- I’ve been finding these old smokers on marketplace and craigslist for a while now. I try to pick them up for under $100 and have gotten the last two for 60 bucks. Take him home put a little elbow grease into them and flip them for a profit!
I picked one up off the side of the road, the biggest issue with it is that the left side panel has a slight dent where the smoke stack come out of and it causes a slight misalignment of the main door, so I’m trying to figure out how to correct that.
Might have to heat it up and give it some tough love with a rubber hammer
Great video. I have been doing the same side hustle. Paid for a new Shirley. Weld the firebox, new stack, collector, and that 100 dollar smoker is easily 400-500 smoker.
Hey there, I bought two Oklahoma joes smokers in the mid 90's and I need to get a replacement. New Braunfels bought them and they went downhill in quality quickly. How can I identify one of the heavy gauge units when viewing? They may "look" similar but how can I separate the wheat from the chaff? Thanks!
Look at the name plate, it will have “Oklahoma Joe” inside the state of Oklahoma. It’s in a black font if I remember correctly

Old ones are 1/4 inch thick steel. This newer one in the video is 300 on sale at Lowe's and maybe a tenth the quality of an original
I have bought 8 various smokers and grills for flipping them for profit. Started a few years ago. Best side hustle for me. Hands down. 💯♨️🔥
It's probably more common to find the good ones in Kansas City since I've been looking for a couple years out here on the east coast and the good ones are hard to find
