@Astrocation Thanks for the tip, but it's not the same version of the theme song that's in the intro. It's a decent version, but there was something about the instrumentation of the 25th Anniversary version of the song (especially the one played for this special) that really popped for me. Ah well.
When SNL does its 50th anniversary at Radio City Music Hall, the house band needs to be augmented to big band/orchestral levels (more horns and string section from the NYC Philharmonic) with G.E. Smith and original music directors Paul Shaffer and Howard Shore (serving as conductors). For the final episode, special guest host Dan Aykroyd and musical guests The Blues Brothers.
Whatever. The show hasn't been funny since [YEAR YOU GRADUATED COLLEGE]. Whatever happened to [ACTOR/ACTRESS WHO WAS ON THE SHOW]? Remember [RECURRING CHARACTER YOU LIKED]? Those were the good old days.
I use to want to go to NYC so bad because it looks so much fun there overnight and staying out till 4 A.M..I only got as far as the JFK airport to connect flights to Boston, I hope to still visit NYC...After the Summer time, too hot to go now. It looks like a beautiful city 😁
I had video taped the episode where Michael J Fox hosted that same season. AWE MAN!!!! WHY'D YA PUT ON A LOUSY TEASER INTODUCING NAMES WE'LL NEVER SEE CUZ YOU DIDN'T EVEN POST A DECENT PORTION!!!!!! LOUSY JIP!!!!!!
That voice was one of a kind. Faretheewell, Mr. Pardo.
Can't get enough of that sax player . . . . just out of this world
Lenny Pickett
I still think this is the best of all the theme songs SNL has ever had.
For 50th anniversary I wanna see holograms.

@atarian2049 This theme song is featured on / can be ripped from the menu of the original 25th anniversary dvd, along with a few other SNL band tunes.
