@@Poppinoff469 I am a koi- and pond expert for more than 12 years now. I’ve learned to keep koi from the best breeders in the world in Japan. Ecosystems are not koi ponds. They are nice to keep turtles, some goldfish or maybe 2 little koi fish.
@@TheKoiPartner and they are world class pond builders for 60+ years. I think they know more than you. And next day koi (top koi breeding company in the world) teams up with them. Again you don’t know much but you’re trying. Listen to the experts if you wanna be an expert
@@Poppinoff469 TheKoiPartner is not wrong. Rocks trap waste and debris. I know this from personal experience. Our koi kept getting sick, as soon as I removed the stone from the bottom, everything cleared up. How can you say NextDayKoi is reputable when they just had a massive KHV outbreak requiring them to cull most of their stock lol. The only thing rock and stone is good for is allowing beneficial bacteria to colonize on them, other than that, it's terrible. Imagine sleeping on your toilet.
@@ShiffySpiffy you didn’t have four kind set up right then. They make filters you put under the rock to clean it. Have them in my tank. Work very well. And having fish come from Japan you are more prone to out breaks, not to mention all of their fish are kept in tanks with nothing in them. So what you said about nextday was pointless. Stuff happens, they got unfortunate. 20 years of work and only happened once isn’t too bad. But their tanks are bare so idk what that had to do with anything. If you set your pond up right then you don’t have problems. I can tell by the fact you when a bare pond that it’s not a nice one
It’s beautiful. I’ve started working on mine. My question is: do you have a problem with mosquitoes? Did you get a filtration system? Have you encountered any problems or things you would do different?
❤❤❤ I’m definitely doing something similar as a surprise for my fiance. He’s deeply in love with Koi fish. 🥰 meanwhile I just like all bodies of water.
Im building a pond rn and I have the skills to construct many things i locally live in la and if still interested I’d be willing to build you a pond for a price
In regards to the filter. I agree. Getting skimmer is helpful. As to oxygen. It’s water. H2O. Hydrogen2oxygen. For there to be water there must be oxygen. So that’s really not a problem. This bigger problem will be off gassing. Because you have a living fish and a bio system now in that pond you will need to aerate the water to help gases escape. This is why you typically see a fountain or little decorative animal spitting water back into the pond. A waterfall is the aeration style of choice for most people though which is why it’s so common.
I know you’re probably not going to like this but putting gravel into this pond Will not be a good long-term decision. Unless you drain that pond yearly and clean every rock of its bacteria and harmful algae the rocks will begin to grow harmful bacteria that will begin to infect the fish and cause them to lose their fins and eventually die. Bigger rocks are okay but tiny gravel is not.
Lmao what?? Don't listen to this guy. First of all algae may look ugly but only a few types of algae can be dangerous if it were to take over your pond. Algae sucks up bad stuff from the water helping to keep it clean and produces oxygen, during the night algae sucks oxygen from the water but if you have a bubbler, waterfall or fountain it won't do any harm. Second of all DON'T drain and deep clean your pond unless you really have to or the good bacteria will die off causing your fishes poop to turn the water into a toxic poop soup. Some 20% water changes can be done but a pond should really be good as is or something is wrong, such as too many fish in too small of a pond etcetera. Remember to use multiple sources when doing research on something and please don't just make something up and spread it like facts...
Looks good !!
Wow I appreciate it Mann I love your videos huge fan 💯
Hey Paul I am your biggest fan if u respond to me I will cry :)

BAD ASS TASTE!
Inspiring, to say the least.
Keep on, Keepin’ On!
Does that mean he has good or bad taste
Nice pond but far too small for koi. You should keep goldfish.
Not at all too small. Koi take far too long to grow. It will take around 10 years for them to out grow that
@@Poppinoff469it takes them 3 years to grow there full size
Great pond & your first! Congrats. You can always expand it if need be.
Love the build! To keep the koi healthy you should never put gravel on the bottom. Do you have a small filtration installed? ❤
Have you ever watched greg whitstock the pond guy? They always put gravel in the bottom. I think your idea is a myth.

Wow! You did an AMAZING job. They look VERY happy in there.
Awesome pond!
Great job
Great job!

Great job man thats sick
Nice job man! Looks amazing! And great choice on the koi! Well done! 🫧
Looks good but is there enough water for full grown koi?
Full grown no, but will prob be another 10 years before the koi are too big. Which in 10 years I’m sure their budget will be higher for a pond
Lovely, where did you buy the koi, they are beautiful. Thanks for sharing , loved your video!
Great job!!
Great diy project. You should be proud of yourself
Gorgeous! My father in law had one in his back yard but the birds kept attacking the fish so now its just a pond ..
Nice job! 🌱
I like that you made different staggered depths with the flat rocks, for them to swim.
Well done for a first timer
Amazing ❤
You did a fantastic job man I’m jealous 😭👀😶🌫️🤯🤞🏼💀🥸
Great job
Omg i am jealous i cant even have tropical trees cuz i am in illinois -30 weather in winters
Green house with a koi pond, and maybe a pond heater. A little oasis lol
Wow all the detailed build in this video is amazing!! 😒
How is this doing? Are you using an actual filter or just a pump?
Sweet.
Can you idicate which pumps/filters you used?
Awsome!

Gorgeous
Beautiful
Do you have to worry about cats or predators?
The koi are not staying that small so you should make it 4 feet deep
nice pond but that filter isn't good enough.
You live in LA? I’ll pay you to build me one
That would be dope unfortunately I live in south Florida bro
Im building a pond rn and I have the skills to construct many things i locally live in la and if still interested I’d be willing to build you a pond for a price
Do you need a filter?
Nice!!!!
How do you do water changes?
How many gallons is this pond?
What size is ur pond liner
LOVE IT
Wait till the cats in the neighborhood find out 😅
No filter or oxygen?? I never seen this built b4
