      i love jb but when putting a team together you gotta thinl about team chemistry. jb needs the ball to be effective derrick white doesnt. its that simple. its not a matter of whos better bc we all know jb > dwhite. but the weakness on team usa is the ability to guard small guards and dwhite helps with that.

    • @chemicalhap
      @chemicalhap 23 дні тому +8

      Derek has been in the team usa framework for years. Jaylen hasn't. They have enough wings. They have only jrue who can cover guards and quick twitchy ones now and Derek fills the role. Derek has specialized now playing off ball. Jaylen can but needs to be on ball more often than not. This aint the all star game. There are legitimate organizational and team based reasons. But eh...what do you expect from casuals.

    The excuse that White won’t complain if he doesn’t play is so weird. Why would Brown complain if he doesn’t get enough minutes? And if white doesn’t play what’s the point? If white is only going to get low or no minutes then having a better player in Brown makes little difference.

    • @blablablaa14
      @blablablaa14 23 дні тому +4

      Yeah they acting like Brown would come in as a replacement and would be mad when Tatum plays ahead of him. Besides they weren't going to use Kawhi as the 12th guy. He was gonna be the 8th guy probably, so Brown could have def gotten that role. Everyone should play 20 minutes basically so the old people can keep running with the young guys and the US team utilizes their pace to beat teams because that's the biggest advantage the US team has. Its the only team fully used to NBA speeds and pace

    Analysis on "better fit" only makes sense if you think star players don't know how to commit to a role, yes Derrick white is a great "role player" but if you want someone to do the things that D.White does why wouldn't you want a bigger, stronger, player who can do the same things if that's what you want him to do.
    People need to separate nba and Olympics, people also need to stop thinking a star isn't also a role being played on a team, the dynamics that incentivize a player to be a "star" v "playing a role" differ when trying to make a contract and getting a gold metal alongside other people
    Both are evil but entertaining, just sharing my 2 cents

    Let's not crown Team USA just yet. Yes, their talent is sufficient that if the majority of the team averages at least 85% of their capability in each game, they should win Gold. No, let's not take this victory over Team Canada as an indication that they will roll comfortably to every victory. Friendly reminder that whether or not it would have made a difference or not, Canada played its end of the bench guys for the last 7 minutes of the game. Who is to say that had this been a tournament game with medal implications on the line that Canada wouldn't have put all its starters back in and at least made it a 6-7 point game instead of the comfortable 14-15 point game it ended up being? Would everyone still feel this same level of confident if that had happened? My guess is that we'd be generally encouraged but not, it's going to be a cakewalk with our level of talent like some pundits are framing the narrative.

The reason why this is a big deal and a controversial decision is because 3 Boston Celtics were picked for Team USA and the reigning finals mvp was not chosen. As a German an fan of the German team It’s just funny that alle three guys only count superstars on teams and define by that who are the best three teams in the tournament (while missing the world champions). That’s just another example that the US media loves hero ball, as well the only reason why they think Halliburton probably will not play a lot. Hailburton is the best offensive Point guard on the team so he can tire teams out. (Don’t kill me, I know that Steph is the better player, but no true PG). Besides that another good podcast

    Nitpicking between D. White and JB skills or utility does neither of them justice, both muthafcukas can ball. Grant Hill and the USAB brass had their list of potential players prioritized long before the Finals were played and JB winning the ECF and Finals MVP trophies. After the initial 12 spots, the 13-20 replacement guys are all deserving of invitation to represent the US. USAB simply selected their first replacement.

The 2nd unit that came in the 2Q which change the gm for the U.S were 5 players who will not play together in the real thing. 1 of Shai or Jamal will always make up the 2nd unit. • @jammer9941

      Why are you putting the Boston guys in the group? Tatum has been one of the most available stars and repeatedly said he doesn't like sitting out games he can physically play in. White has played 70+ the last several years including all 82 2 years ago. Holiday is the only one you could argue might get load managed some given he's in his 30s but isn't one to complain about the amount of games.

    So they talk about Mitchell's extension but don't discuss Scottie Barnes's max extension? Cavs fans have no right to complain about how they don't get talked enough when there are teams who are ignored far more often. The Raptors are near or at the top of that list. Get in line, Cleveland
