- In this video we peel back the black cover of your typical active high output humbucker to have a peak at what lays inside.
While it all may look quite bizarre, much of it functions exactly the way in which our favourite passive pickups work. We'll tear all the bits apart and analyse how they work and how they affect the tone to make the stereotypical active pickup sound we love (or hate!).

These vids are great, keep up the good work man.
Thanks for explaining that so well. I recently bought a guitar at a pawn shop that had active pickups in it, found out later. Didnt even know what they were. Thanks for explaining it so well.
Great explanation video yet again, keep it up.
Very cool. Would love to try them out.
Our Old Timer Lightning Bolt humbuckers are made like this.
@@Alegree I was just checking the, out on your site. Any tone samples?
@@michaelnugent9758 No, they're made to replicate the tones of the most famous active pickup pairing.
I’m currently building this - I’ll upload my progress to share how I do it

I've been eyeballing the active pickups on your site...But couldnt find the wiring system for them...Do you guys also provide a wiring harness for an active system?
Not officially yet, but we can do so unofficially before the product goes up on the site. Email us directly at customersupport@alegree.co.uk.
Hello. It turns out that an active pickup is the same as a passive pickup with a preamp?
Conceptually, but they are not just direct copies of passive pickups. That wouldn't be a good sounding active pickup.
@@Alegree You said well. Thanks for the great video and the reply.
