PR1 Jedynka daytime FM and LW reception

Polskie Radio 1 is the only long wave station audible in daytime.
At night I can hear more, 252 kHz decent, 171 kHz poor and Radio 4 198 khz so-so, Romania should be stronger.
RTON Skrzyczne radio and TV tower stands at altitude of 1248m ASL plus 87 m tower.
Distance over 100 km

Have you tried LW and MW reception with the telescopic antena? It should provide great results in such outdoors environment.

Yes, this was using the whip I think. It works all right but reception is much improved with a loop antenna. Compact AN-200 makes a difference. Indoor I switch to internal ferrite+loop. Anyway the best would be to use my longer wire and push a ground rod into the earth. Then I'll connect a jack into the external antenna socket.

That's a smart looking receiver. How do you think it matches up against your PL680 and PL880?

Hi Mick, I bought this portable to have something capable of RDS on FM. It's excellent for FM DXing even with its short whip. That car radio chip inside really works for even weak signals.
On SW it seems to be good too but I haven't used it much.
The radio is tiny but feels solid, no squeaking like on small radios like the Xhdata or tecsun PL-310. The buttons are easy to use and after couple of days I'm able to use it on the dark.
Despite its size the sound is very good but of course can't match the 880's for example.
