It would be interesting to see what goes according to plan and what changes. Princess Anne was part of the night watch which is a departure from tradition (and a good one I think), and the Queen did pass away in Scotland.
Rewatching this because your video was the first thing I thought of when the queen's death was announced. I cannot believe a year and 5 months later London Bridge is actually happening.
I follow her on Instagram and she posted something about this video, so I knew I had to come rewatch it. I'm an American, but my sister lives in London. I've always been intrigued by the Royals (I was a little girl when Prince Charles and Lady Di got married and it was the first major event I can remember seeing), but even more so after watching William and his brother walk the long torturous walk after their mother died. I love that the US has lowered their flags until after the Queen's funeral.
I wanted to give a big thank you to you, my brother Logan died unexpectedly in January. He was 19, and he was the biggest fan of you. He got one of your books as a Christmas present. He told me just a little bit before he died, that dying didn't scare him, and that you helped him realize that. Out of all of this pain and grief I've been experiencing, I know that he wasn't scared, and he is at peace now. Thank you.
There was one thing that I liked from Elizabeth's funeral that is worth sharing now that it has happened. The late Queen had myrtle, a symbol for a good marriage in floriography, in her wedding bouquet. After the service she took a cutting from the myrtle and grew it into a plant. The florists for her funeral then took that same plant and used some cuttings from it for her funeral flowers. Edit: BTW the reigning monarch is addressed as "Your Majesty". "Your Highness" is the address for other members of the family.
I don't care what they do for my funeral, as long as my grave has a motion-activated sensor which sets off a recording of my voice saying "WHO DARES DISTURB MY SLUMBER?"
Watch the video of the old irish guy playing a tape from his coffin. It is fucking beautiful, a fantastic last gift for his family. “Oi let me out its fookin dark in here”
My lovely dad died unexpectedly on the same day as the Queen Mother's funeral in 2002. He died in his sleep. We joked that he couldn't face hearing all the fuss and nonsense that people were making about the royal funeral, so decided not to wake up that morning.
@@zeusathena26 Yes, he was such an anti-monarchist! Your comment startled me a bit, because my lovely mum died a few weeks ago and I thought it was about that at first. Must admit, it was around the time that the Queen was declared to be positive for Covid and it did cross my mind that mum was dodging another royal funeral! Ah, grief hurts so, so much; we need to be able to have a giggle too 😊
@@dshe8637 I'm so sorry about your mum! I understand I've lost both of my parents too. My father was just a no fuss person. He hated all the funeral rules, & expectations. He said just plant me in the yard, or cremate me on the BBQ pit😁. Yes, we all need a laugh once in awhile! Stay strong.
@Taylor Swiftie probably should have put this in your own comment it's not really relevant to this particular commenter they didn't make the video lmao. And if you're a viewer of this channel you would know that the videos aren't really about criticing the person who died that we are talking about more on the concept and practice of the death itself. She's covered dictators and necrophiles deaths before it doesn't mean it's an endorsement lmao!
@@jurgenkoks9142 No, the line of succession is determined by birth, she can`t do much except outlive the moldy piece of toast and his crusty wife. My 3-times great grandmother purposefully lived to 100 just to get her letter from the president (didn't know other countries besides the US did this before this comment surprisingly). She was up and dancing on her 100th birthday. Then she got her letter and 3 days later said she was ready to go and passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her kids. She was an awesome woman who they had to literally wrangle her drivers license from at age 90 because she could still technically drive legally but they didn't want her to keep leaving the nursing home whenever she pleased, I hope to someday be half as bad a bitch as she was 😂😂😂
@theinquisitiveowl I hate to break it to you, but nobody has sent a telegram in the UK since 1982. Perhaps the Queen might send herself a congratulatory card.
I didn't know he had died. Of course, I haven't been paying much attention to the news lately because my ex-wife passed away suddenly the day before and I've been a little distracted with making arrangements, notifying people, getting probate started, etc. She was also a fan of this channel and she decided that she wanted to be an organ and tissue donor followed by a simple direct cremation with no viewing. I found a wonderful funeral director who listened to me, respected our wishes, and didn't try to sell me any extras. So, thanks, Caitlin, for making us aware of what our options are and where we could just say, "No."
I'm sorry for your loss, John, but I'm so glad your wife (and presumably you) was proactive in making decisions about her passing. I hope more people save their family difficulties by just choosing options for themselves. A friend's father said it well, "Honey, I don't want you to have to do anything but grieve."
Thank you all for the thoughts and condolences. As toxic as social media can be, this UA-cam channel has always been a welcome oasis of decency and compassion. We had exchanged texts about an hour before she died. The last thing we said to each other was, "See you tomorrow." Crap!
The mental image of a gang of corgis ruining the serenity of a state funeral made me laugh out loud. I have two myself and can confirm that the little bastards are absolutely capable of doing that.
@@Hollyberrystreats Yeah at one point, but they dug her up 60 years later and interred her in the pantheon in Paris. In a lead lined coffin, to be exact.

Ngl we are kinda like this 😆 a lot of us believe she will at least make it to 100 so she can give herself alittle prize or letter like she does with anyone else that reaches 100. Plus we defo believe she’ll try to out live Charles
And on this day September 8th, 2022, Queen Elizabeth has passed away... and in lieu of not being able to comprehend this currently, I go back and watch this video.
You say that, and it suddenly gave me the most absurd image of the two of them standing on a lone mountain in the wilderness. Lightening flashes, and you hear a booming voice sound from the heavens, proclaiming, “There can be only one!” And then, next thing you know, they both brandish swords, and start duking it out, Highlander style!
As a Brit, public sentiment towards Charles is pretty much unwilling acceptance. There’s admittedly a certain gleeful hope that the queen will outlive him though.
If she does outlive him how will the line of succession go? Cause in the past we’ve seen it past to the oldest male cousin. Not in British royalty obviously.
@@baronvonjo1929 Well, speaking as an ungrateful traitor, I've actually discussed this with some Brits both while physically over there and online, and largely? Camilla's what he did. Not only the HUGE scandal he caused the Royal Family (And the country as a whole, really), but also there isn't much fondness for Camilla on a personal level. People just don't like her. And they REALLY don't like the concept of her as either the Queen or the King's Consort.
Just watched the ceremony and I gotta say that seeing the queen at her 94 years of age, walking alone into the chapel, sitting alone away from her loved ones and then exit and getting into a car also alone and wiping her tears after saying goodbye to her lifetime companion, puts into perspective that royal life, as fancy as it may be, it's a very solitary life.
Her lady-in-waiting was with the Queen in the car, but yeah, in the chapel it was heartbreaking to see her so alone. Being monarch is a lonely life, and Prince Phillip really was a good helpmate and partner for her. I can't imagine having someone who has been such a big part of my life for so long suddenly be gone.
Philip's mother, Princess Alice, would be one such suggestion for a royal iconic corpse. An interesting life, spending her last years as an acetic living in a palace (contradiction of terms) and dressed like a nun who was finally buried in Jerusalem. .

Okay, not British myself, but I have to take a moment to say that the fact that there is a cemetery dedicated to the royal pets is so incredibly, perfectly sweet!
@@sed6657 I’m a Mestizo woman, myself-a direct descendant of those who went through the very hardships you’re describing in my mother’s side, and a direct descendent of the British on my father’s side. First, we’re talking about England. What indigenous people of color are you talking about who had their land stolen from them? That happened here, certainly, but over in England the people have always been white, and many were, in fact, the very colonists who came over here to take land from the people of color here. With all due respect, I think you have your history somewhat confused. Secondly, even if you don’t, I, myself, am going to step forward and say that, as experience has shown me after having seen a fair deal of racism thrown directly at me in my lifetime, when it comes to healing the very wrongs you’re mentioning, there’s a time for fighting back against such wrongs for the sake of healing, and then there comes a time on which showing respect and love to the very people you are seeking healing with becomes the most healing thing one can do for one’s people. When it comes to me and my people, I personally would say that this is certainly a time when the latter of the two is what is, by far, the most important. Taking the attitude you would prefer to take does nothing more than further open a wound that needs to heal, by continuing to dwell upon a time that seeks healing. The mindset you propose only makes the wounds all the greater. What’s more, we allow our hatred and anger to make us bitter, and in so doing, we destroy the best of all that we are. No other mindset could possibly do my ancestors a greater disservice. Through joining with England and wishing them the best during this time when such great healing is needed, we come together in love and greater unity with the very ones we seek healing from, by being that source of healing ourselves through our actions. That is how the wrongs done are healed, not through the anger and bitterness you’re proposing! So, please! I know you mean well, but what you are stating does nothing but further damage to us, the very people you’re wanting to help. Now is not the time for such anger. I for one continue to wish England love , and pray that they find healing during a time of such great national mourning.
@@sed6657 so like the French, Spanish and Portuguese then who also travelled the world conquering the indigenous people. It wasnt just the British so wind your neck in. @@SupportMensMentalHealth Aw, thanks! That really means a lot! It’s just the truth, really. The Brits didn’t hurt us, so I’m not referring to them when I say that you let the very ones that have hurt you make you angry and bitter, and then not only have they won, but you’ve literally handed them your power by choosing to allow yourself to be emotionally and spiritually destroyed by it all. That seems pretty self-defeating to me, and not at all in keeping with what my ancestors would want for me, or what would best honor them. And, it sure as hell does nothing to make this world better! Thanks for chiming in and speaking out yourself! It’s appreciated! ❤️
Hello from the UK! I was in a shopping centre today and had completely forgotten what was going on today. At 3pm precisely they announced that there was to be a minutes silence and I was amazed how seriously everyone took it. Everyone put their baskets down and stood perfectly still in silence, even the busker outside stopped playing. The immediate reanimation when the minute was up was hilarious, as if nothing had happened.
Of course we stopped for 1 minute. We were showing respect. We don't expect people from outside the UK to understand it but it's connected to our traditions and national identity.
And here we are, nearly a year and a half later, and the Queen has died. Looking forward to Caitlyn's video on that, if she decides to make one. And we'll see if there's chaos due to corgis.

He eventually, yanno, died. Then, this is what I got from the Historic UK website: "To begin with, the room in which his body lay was almost immediately looted. The king’s body was left lying naked on the floor, while those who had attended his death scuttled off clutching anything and everything. Eventually a passing knight appears to have taken pity on the king and arranged for the body to be embalmed - sort of - followed by its removal to Caen for burial. By this time the body was probably already a little ripe, to say the least. When the monks came to meet the corpse, in a spooky re-run of William’s coronation, fire broke out in the town....(ed. - so everyone had to stop with the funeral and run to help fight the fire). "Just at the point where the assembled mourners were asked to forgive any wrongs that William had done, an unwelcome voice piped up. It was a man claiming that William had robbed his father of the land on which the abbey stood. William, he said, was not going to lie in land that didn’t belong to him. After some haggling, compensation was agreed. "The worst was yet to come. William’s corpse, bloated by this point, wouldn’t fit into the short stone sarcophagus that had been created for it. As it was forced into place, 'the swollen bowels burst, and an intolerable stench assailed the nostrils of the by-standers and the whole crowd', according to Orderic. No amount of incense would cover up the smell and the mourners got through the rest of the proceedings as quickly as they could."
Despite being born and living in Canada, it took me a while to register that the flag in front of my workplace was at half mast because of Prince Philip’s death
I was working during prince Phillip's funeral, a busy Saturday in a pub. 3pm hit and silence most eerie feeling. It made me think about the queens death, which I can't imagine. I don't think anyone wants her to die before Charles.
My Grand Aunt is 107 years old unfortunately she is cursed with life according to her genetics did this, the Queen Mum was over 100 so it’s not unheard of the Queen going to 100 or more. People don’t choose the length of time they are able to live. Sad she’s hunched over, hello she’s 95 years old it’s part of aging not mourning. I dislike Prince Phillips’s funeral was spun with speculation and drama! The news media should be ashamed for not keeping the funeral strictly about the Duke!
As far as I can tell (UK native), the royal family are kind of like a massive grandfather clock sitting in your lounge; grandma really likes it and gets annoyed when people make fun of it, mum hates the bloody thing, and the kids don't really care one way or another.
Thats the best description I have read regarding my own familys attitude. My mums family are English. My Dads Irish. And i grew up in both countries, see both points of view and amd on the whole indifferent to them. Well, in so far as one can be indifferent to a family who live a life one can only dream of by living on state handouts. The Royal Family are basically Aristocratic Chavs.
This, so much this. UKer here and I think the fact that 110, 000 people complained to the BBC that a program reporting the Prince's death added to the TV schedule meant a cooking program was cancelled says it all. Some people care, but most of the people I know of a wide age range just dont care.
I’m a Londoner, and the general consensus is that people tend to be ambivalent towards Charles, people tend to prefer William and want him to directly ascend to the throne rather than Charles, people are also intrigued and watch the royals closely whenever someone from the family dies. People either love them or are ambivalent and don’t really care. We respect them but also accept that they don’t really have any power.
@@catercoz2491 Of course they are. Royal-related tourism pumps like, 1.5 billion into the economy every year. On a year where Something Big happens where international crowds can line the streets, you can add another half billion at least.
As an American (US), I'm curious about how people felt towards Charles during the Diana break-up and then when he married Camila and then as time went on after the marriage. I think my personal feelings were that he was an ass, then it was clear that Camila was his true love and I felt my feelings soften towards him. So overall I'm more positive about him than 25 years ago. Of course I was sooo much younger then too (sigh), so I wasn't really clear on what the truth was about their relationship. I had just heard things like him being dismissive of Harry at birth since he's a ginger, and that made me angry towards him.

@Taylor Swiftie making a video on royal funerals doesn’t mean condoning them, the monarchy in general, or any of their actions; it’s just informative. I think it’s p obvious from all of Caitlin’s content she doesn’t support racist institutions, but she can still comment on them. She emphasises the historic and cultural inequalities among things like class, race, sex etc. in the funeral industry and on broader death related subjects. Nothing in this video suggested any kind of support. In fact, she directly asks people their thoughts and opinions on the monarchy and how British people feel about it. She’s done videos on people like Charles Manson and their death, but that obviously doesn’t mean she supports them as people
I’m also English and I’ve completely missed the funeral today. I’ve got nothing against the royals, but I’m not that interested in watching or what goes into it.
@Taylor Swiftie Your wrong on so many fronts. You really shouldn't believe what you read on social media and less than half of what the media portrays.
@Taylor Swiftie If we were to delete/cancel/never talk about anyyone who has done anything wrong... allegedly, via conviction, conviction in the court of public opinion... there would be no one left and nothing to learn about. It's extremely ignorant to think that an overview of extensive history of a country's royalty, and something literally happening currently and therefore does impact us, should be ignored because you feel personally offended by people you've never met. If you don't comment this kind of victimhood on everything from Ramses II to Pompeii to displacement of Japanese in WW11 and everything in between and since, you're simply looking for attention.
Fun fact: Princess Diana's funeral was according to the plan for the Queen Mother's funeral (her grandmother-in-law). This is because they hadn't practiced any other funeral.
The plans for the funeral of the Queen Mother, who died in 2002, were known as Operation Tay Bridge. When Princess Diana died in 1997, her funeral was held along the lines of Operation Tay Bridge. Prince Philip's funeral preparations were Operation Forth Bridge. Prince Charles's are Operation Menai Bridge. The Queen's are Operation London Bridge. Princess Margaret, who died on the same year as her mother, the Queen Mother, didn't seem to have a codename for her funeral plans.
I'm from the North East of England. We're traditionally more loyal than a lot of areas. I had to drive for an hour immediately after the funeral, the towns and roads were empty. Everyone I know was sad to hear of his death and most people said they'd be watching the funeral on TV as it happened. Last time I saw the Queen and Prince Phillip I was stood outside a pub with a pint of beer in my hand, their car stopped next to me for a few seconds. Philip nudged the Queen and both gave me huge smiles as I literally raised my glass to them. It was a moment of genuine warm acknowledgment by them.
What a lovely memory :) I too have a warm memory of Queen Elizabeth. In 1977 at age 11 I saw her at the Queens Gardens in Invercargill, New Zealand. She looked right at me and smiled. I've never forgotten how warm and genuine she looked.
I truly feel for the Queen: when I saw her in the chapel, sitting alone with her head bowed, she reminded me so much of my own mother at my father's funeral. My parents had been married for 52 years and though she was surrounded by family, and was trying to comfort her children, there was a terrible sense of being lost that she projected. She lived for 5 more years and I take comfort in the fact that she, my father, and my sister are together now in a place of eternal peace, where sickness, pain, and sorrow do not exist. One day there will be a glorious reunion in Heaven with the Queen and her loved ones!

As a Brit I'm not particularly fussed about the monarchy, and I didn't stop working or watching Netflix when Phillip passed away, nor did I see any of his funeral. However, I must confess that having the Queen as a constant steady and solid figurehead against a backdrop of chaos in the world and ever changing politics does bring about some comfort. She has been this countries only constant for many many decades and there's something very comforting about that, which is perhaps difficult for people who live in other countries to understand. Don't execute them, just make them pay tax and death duties like the rest of us.
As a Brit, there’s something remarkably unified about the way everything just stops for royal events. It’s pretty much engrained in us to an extent. I was out shopping this morning and memorial billboards for the Prince were all over my city. Then at 2:30pm everything just seemed to stop and we watched the funeral. As someone who has lost a loved one over the past year and been unable to hold a funeral properly, there was something oddly comforting at seeing it be restricted for the royals too because of the current worldwide situation and UK restrictions - they grieve and go through this as well, just like regular people like me, and it was somewhat humbling. The Queen is a well loved figure for the most part here, so when she dies it’ll be extremely sad. The majority of the country have never known a different ruler and we’re not keen on the idea of Charles being King.

As an American woman who is Diana’s age (within weeks), who was pregnant at the EXACT same time as Diana, and who gave birth to her first child one day before Diana gave birth to Prince William, I positively HATE the idea of Charles & Camilla the Cruel being king & queen! By marrying that wench, he should have had to abdicate the throne FIRST so that she NEVER became queen! That’s just my opinion. I think Prince William and Catherine would be so much better suited to be King and Queen. Charles was a terrible father. He treated his wife like trash. He doesn’t deserve to be a king.
This was the first video I thought of when the news of Queen Elizabeth’s death was announced today, 8 September 2022. She was the only English Queen during all of my 64 years. Rest In Peace, Elizabeth II
As a Brit, yes, I thought the funeral yesterday was beautiful and sad, a sign of today’s times, the Queen so completely alone. The Land Rover was so completely apt but a small shout out for Prince Philip’s two Fell ponies and trap that he requested to attend, a real personal touch.
Aside from the Queen sitting alone, I thought the buggy was the most poignant part of the funeral. His hat and gloves on the empty seat, and knowing he loved to take the littles for rides in it, made me tear up a bit.
I can't even imagine. Hubs and I just had our 37th, and I cannot even imagine being without him (or worse, I can). Seeing her sitting alone was so heartbreaking, but I do suspect she'd have been just as alone without pandemic restrictions. We may mourn together, but we each grieve alone.
The first time that I lost it was when the procession formed up. Prince Charles looked devastated. Then when the Queen was there all alone, I couldn't help but cry my eyes out. They were together for longer than I have been alive, and to face the funeral without even a hand to hold must have been even more difficult. Her Majesty is a very strong lady.
I really love that she did that. It felt like she was showing solidarity with everyone who’s had to be alone burying someone they love during COVID. I don’t know if it was intentional but I think it probably was
UK based here. Philip was loved and hated. Today felt very stripped back and the service had a chilled vibe to it. At one point the casket/coffin just seemed to disappear, as cameras were focused on the singers and readers. It was very sudden and caught me off guard. He went down to the vault in no time. I'm from Wales and Philip will be best remembered for his efforts after the Aberfan disaster when 144 children and adults died. He visited 9 times in his life and made sure the Queen came to the site a week after the disaster. Wales shall always thank him for that.
@@ambulocetusnatans if you get a chance, watch The Crown episode on the tragedy. In my opinion it’s one of the best episodes - so heartbreaking but very beautifully done.
@@catherinedegreif8500 : But don’t forget The Crown is dramatised, it isn’t history. I think we need to caution ourselves to pay heed to original sources and not take the skews of films or TV shows as truth. My fear is that because of more contemporary styling and high production values we risk treating the treatments as the more authentic.
@@chriswalford4161 Yes, for sure. I knew nothing about the disaster, but that episode sent me down a rabbit hole and I learned a lot, which is good. I only meant that comment reminded me of that episode, which was so well-done. But yes, disclaimer: The Crown isn’t a documentary. :)
@@catherinedegreif8500 : I do just-about remember it; I would have been 12. The rescue seemed to go on for days, and report filming that was taken was withheld at the time for its directness, but has subsequently been shown, so what I watched when is a bit muddled. Temporary morgues; families losing some, all or none of their kids and not knowing. Close-knit Welsh villages that knew mining tragedies but not to lose the children. I remember the recovery from the rubble went on for days - that was very real and horrifying.
Fun fact about muffled bells, as was mentioned for Big Ben- both sides of a church bell strike the bell, but for funerals and Remembrance Sunday they're half muffled. So you'll hear a set of muffled chimes, then a set of regular chimes. The only time you muffle both sides is for the death of the sovereign, so it's an unusual one for bell ringers too!
Big Ben (the bell) does not have an internal clapper like a church bell, which strikes the inside of the bell with both sides of the clapper. Instead it has an external hammer, which strikes the outside of the bell. This would mean only the side of the hammer that strikes the bell, would need to be muffled. There are also 4 smaller bells in the Elizabeth tower / Big Ben, which are known as the quarter bells. These strike every quarter of an hour and these are also hammer bells.
I'm a tailor/military tailor (in England) and was asked to be on standby to prepare uniforms for the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral for several months before the sad event. Also my dad was in the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment and I have a photograph of them meeting in the early 1970s next to my desk. Apparently he was a very nice man.
Also named Mark Collins, (amazing!) and you do the Lord's work. As a US Army Infantry sergeant, we are required to look our absolute best, when not actually knee deep in mud, which would be impossible without you. Many thanks for your services.

Funerals that go off the rails are the best funerals. At mine, I want there to be drama, fisticuffs, and eventually a police presence until everyone ends up drunkenly and tearfully making up at the bar/restaurant down the street. Oh, and if my urn accidentally gets knocked over, thereby throwing up a cloud of ash over everyone and getting ground into the carpet, that'd be fine too.
@@beachysands4036 Absolutely! I'm hoping for a rich blend of horror, mortification, rage, laughter, abject sorrow, and maybe some unbridled lust at my funeral. ALL THE EMOTIONS, ALL AT ONCE!! They'll be talking about it for years.
I find it so precious and relieving that the Queen is finding comfort from her corgis during this difficult time in her life. Regardless of how you view the royals, she and Prince Phillip has been married for more than 70 years...I wish her only the best
lol same. I'm American so can't say I have an inside view, but I certainly wouldn't picture them to be excited for Charles to be queen. I would imagine they'd be much more excited for Prince William to be king. @@kenetrice as an American I don't see many people even talking about Charles at all except for people saying he looks lost lmao, but the people ive talked to don't like William at all.
British follower here: most of us feel pretty ambivalent towards the royal family, but the Queen has been mostly inoffensive by their standards, so we’re not looking forward to seeing how he’d handle it. We’re also a very sullen and hostile people by nature, so we’re probably going to mock him ruthlessly. This will be a bonding experience for the country, since mocking someone together is the main way we show affection I’m Anglican (the most common denomination of christianity in the UK), and the Queen is technically the head of the church. That mostly just means church services sometimes involve a carefully *apolitical* ‘praying for the government’ section, but it would also mean that on the queen’s death, Prince Charles would become (in name only - our monarchs don’t actually do anything) the highest authority in my religion. Not thrilled about that, but at least this version of Christianity isn’t evangelical and no one says anything if you wear a pride flag bowtie to church. Finally, most of the country were born after the queen was crowned, meaning that the idea of a king sounds Weird and Wrong and We Don’t Like It
Brit perspective: I don't think many of us really care that much. I can't speak for everyone of course, but most of the people I know like having the Queen, because she's kind of a boss, but the rest of the royals we're just totally neutral toward. Most of them are just bland, uninspiring and sort of useful for tourism and PR, but that's about it. Like I don't think they would ditch having a monarch after the Queen carks it, but I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't really care if they did.
I don’t have dogs but a corgi would be on my list if I could have a dog in my life. Because every corgi is a party on four legs. They’re just fun, happy dogs.
'Are you excited about Charles being King?' Ehhhh depends who you ask but the general consensus is that we kinda want it to skip Charles and go to William straight away. A lot of British people don't like Charles because of how he treated Diana.
These hyper produced funerals intrigue me. From the loved ones perspective, it must be nice having it all figured out and just having to go through it. But on the other hand it must be endlessly anxiety inducing having to follow protocol, a tight time schedule and not being able to just be there and feel your loss and your grief freely. The image of Harry and William parading Diana's coffin comes to mind, it's heartbreaking seeing two boys in that situation.
That's definitely a good point, but it's also going to differ between people. Queen Elizabeth is very old now and has gone through every event in her life with the same structure and extremely tight planning, from her father's death, her coronation & wedding, to every other wedding and funeral she's attended. We can't know whether she enjoys it or not, but I doubt it makes her anxious. Whereas poor Will & Harry were just boys, plus it was totally unexpected when Diana died. That day must have been terrible for them.
If you ever run out of ideas, I’d personally loooove a video about all the myths around guillotined/severed heads living for a few minutes after decapitation, all the stories and eyewitnesses about heads making faces or looking at things or trying to speak.
Ooooh good one! Not totally related.. but my 10th grade history teacher told us that when someone gets shot in the head with a .45 or smaller, on average they can still consciously think and feel for 4-6 seconds. Which may not sound that crazy.. but I feel like 4-6 seconds of having a hot bullet inside of you're brain would.. not be fun lol I mean I never actually looked into it so MAYBE it's true.. but I doubt it. And I hope it's not ofc.
@@reginamachamer821 That *can't* be right. I've heard that if you so much as press your thumb down on the wrong/right part of the brain during surgery, the human goes totally limp (sometime waking up and continuing mid-sentence like nothing happened as soon as you let go). I mean, computers are fragile, and biological computers are no exception... Although, I guess it really depends. If a non-essential part is damaged, you may not even notice, but if hits the hindbrain or something, you're instantly out...
@@neolexiousneolexian6079 yeah I mean if you read the whole comment you'll see that I was reiterating it as buIIshit lmao I just thought it was funny that a teacher told our class this
@@reginamachamer821 It all depends on what part of the brain is hit. Some people have lived after being shot in the brain. Some die instantly. Most do take a few seconds, to either bleed out internally, or for the autonomic systems to fail. And yes, a smaller caliber bullet does less damage, so you're less likely to die instantly from, say, a .22 than a 9 mil or a .45.
Everyone complaining that the Queen was seated alone but she really wasn’t! She was seated with 70 some odd years of love and memories and the woman just needed her moment with those ❤️

Queen Elizabeth passed away today. I immediately remembered this video and had to revisit it. Rest In Peace. 👑 🇬🇧
Nothing stopped in my house.

@@cindylou6084 I got you, fam: Apparently his internal organs were badly bruised when after collapsing in the heat of the battlefield, he was thrown onto the back of a horse, and the hard saddle pommels were rammed into his gut.

As far as I can tell (UK native), the royal family are kind of like a massive grandfather clock sitting in your lounge; grandma really likes it and gets annoyed when people make fun of it, mum hates the bloody thing, and the kids don't really care one way or another.
Wonderful analogy
Ahhh that puts it perfectly
Thats the best description I have read regarding my own familys attitude. My mums family are English. My Dads Irish. And i grew up in both countries, see both points of view and amd on the whole indifferent to them.
Well, in so far as one can be indifferent to a family who live a life one can only dream of by living on state handouts.
The Royal Family are basically Aristocratic Chavs.
This is brilliant
Are they good for tourism though?
I'm a Londoner and I think they can all go into the sea. Even Philip. He was a racist ass.

I don’t think most people are ... mah... for Charles 3rd
Queen’s death was just announced 40 mins ago, I and remembered this video and immediately came back to rewatch it
Fun fact: Princess Diana's funeral was according to the plan for the Queen Mother's funeral (her grandmother-in-law).
Amusing irony since Diana detested the Queen Mum.
And she wasn't happy about it, had to replan hers.
They had been rehearsing it every year for 22 years!
nothing about this fact was fun

You said there would be a short illness! There was no illness! They only gave us a few hours to prepare. I'm not ready for London Bridge to be down.

@@welshwitch2126 same here. And with the Tupperware dish like they would use on their picnics. Apparently the Queen insists on using Tupperware.
It was definitely a fitting send off for him. Perfectly done.
@Button Fanny - If I had been the Queen, I would have ridden in the procession in that trap behind the ponies.
@@welshwitch2126 same, re his cap and gloves, and sugar for the ponies. 😢
I'm Scottish and although I'm not into the royal family, my heart went out to the Queen. Seeing her sitting on her own, head bowed was so sad.
Your ancestors must be flipping over in their graves.
@@harrynicholes3166 Certainly not. Scots are independent, they are also humane.
I had never heard of the Aberfan disaster, so I just looked it up on Wikipedia. That sounds like it was a horrific tragedy.

Rewatching this the day Her Majesty passed. Want to see how the plans have changed- specifically if they include the corgis in the procession lol

Deathlings: it's our time now☠️
Fun fact about muffled bells, as was mentioned for Big Ben- both sides of a church bell strike the bell, but for funerals and Remembrance Sunday they're half muffled.
I'm rather enjoying this bell-nerdery! Things I didn't know I wanted to know about... :-)

"British people, do you ... are you excited for Charles to be king"
Immediately rushes to the comments to see what British followers say.

This will be a bonding experience for the country, since mocking someone together is the main way we show affection
I’m Anglican (the most common denomination of christianity in the UK), and the Queen is technically the head of the church.
Finally, most of the country were born after the queen was crowned, meaning that the idea of a king sounds Weird and Wrong and We Don’t Like It
@@Sammit00 thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I immediately came back to this video and sent it out to friends. RIP Elizabeth
I can’t get over one of the queen’s corgis being named Susan. That’s an excellent dog name.
Susan was her very first corgi
I have two corgis specifically because the queen has corgis lol
This thrills me to no end.
I don’t have dogs but a corgi would be on my list if I could have a dog in my life. Because every corgi is a party on four legs. They’re just fun, happy dogs.
I certainly must agree, Lindsey..
'Are you excited about Charles being King?' Ehhhh depends who you ask but the general consensus is that we kinda want it to skip Charles and go to William straight away. A lot of British people don't like Charles because of how he treated Diana.
We non brits tend to agree, I think. At least, can confirm, I agree.
Yeah... Allways felt the spoilt shit took his hidden contempt for his mother and the English people? out on Diana.
@@maeve_a Non Brit here & I totally agree!
Charles is not the worst. Imagine Andrew.
Wait what happened with Diana?
These hyper produced funerals intrigue me. From the loved ones perspective, it must be nice having it all figured out and just having to go through it.
But on the other hand it must be endlessly anxiety inducing having to follow protocol, a tight time schedule and not being able to just be there and feel your loss and your grief freely.
The image of Harry and William parading Diana's coffin comes to mind, it's heartbreaking seeing two boys in that situation.
agree
Heck I wonder how it felt for William and Kate that their wedding procession was also acting as a rehersal run for Queen Elizabeth's funeral?
That was the idea of the then Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
@@-Ghostess it fucking what?! 👁️👄👁️

Ooooh good one! And I hope it's not ofc.
@@reginamachamer821 That *can't* be right.
