Very insightful Matt. Your “stuff” is unique but to anyone who grew up playing baseball or just loving the game your content is so cool. Answers questions that many of us would’ve asked and some that we wouldnt have but still love to hear. You’re giving us the minutia, the nuances that we dreamed about. Keep it up Bro.
Came across your channel about a week ago. Love it. I’ve even watched a few of your videos on mechanics. Sure wish I had someone to teach me that stuff back when I played. Keep up the good work.
Matt, when you said , "get in trouble", I thought you were going to talk about stuff like Tatis of the San Diego Padres getting suspended for 80 games for steroids, or Max Scherzier of the Mets getting suspended 10 games for using a illegal substance. Where your name is on ESPN.........
Do players get paid by card companies or memorabilia companies for the company to obtain a players bat or jersey to cut up and make cards or to make special edition memorabilia with.
Hsin-Hsiu Ho I came here to comment that as well. He played forever, and was always known for his pranks. I can totally see him screwing with the rookie like that, ha!
This is so funny! Can't wait to send this to my friend in Australia. She's learning the game (and loves it), and she'll get a kick out of the fact that y'all were using Vegemite as punishment.
I know that u played for the padres in 2008, and the only players that are really famous that played then are Greg Maddux and Trevor Hoffman so was it either of those 2
Vmite is obviously an acquired taste that I'm sure Australasian children are introduced to at a very young age. They then develop a taste for it and it's a family staple. That said, there are American foods that disgust foreigners. Velveeta cheese is one of them and believe it or not, Hershey's chocolate. However, there's a specific reason why they hate Hershey's that if you don't know, once you hear it, you get it. Milton Hershey had a dream to operate a chocolate factory and he had a specific vision. He knew he wanted to go away from the European type chocolate and use fresh milk instead of powdered. So, he went to a farming area of PA where there were lots of milk cows. He then built his factory and an entire town around it before he even had a formula. Now, that's confidence! Anyway, there was one problem, his insistence of using fresh milk (which had always been his go to ingredient in his candy) was what became a major stumbling block because of the water content of the milk. He brought in all sorts of chemists and other associated experts. Finally, after toiling away and almost running out of money, an assistant had him try yet another batch of chocolate. He instantly knew they hit on what he was looking for. However, the assistant told him he thought the milk had soured and they should probably work a bit more to keep that from happening. But Hershey said no. He said he wanted it just the way it was. So, that's the reason foreigners dislike Hershey's chocolate so much. While Americans are used to the sour milk chocolate, other countries are steeped in the powdered milk chocolate and they immediately taste the sour milk in Hershey's. They might not realize that "off taste" is because of sour milk, but still, they know something is very different.
Awesome channel Matt! Why did you choose to go to Wake Forest? In college baseball, what gear/equipment and clothes do you get? Did you play at Gene Hooks Field? Thank you!!!
I'm Australian. Vegemite is the nectar of the gods. However, it is not good on a stick on it's own! It is nothing like peanut butter or jelly, it's not nutella. You spread it very sparingly on toast. It is a very strong taste, not meant to be eaten in bulk (unless you grew up with it like us aussies).
I hated vegemite as a kid but when I started drinking beer I liked it. Turns out it's a by-product from brewing. Also we have peanut butter as well down here
I would love the chance to face an opportunity of getting in trouble by a boss/supervisor. The love I have for the MLB, I would love to be employed somewhere, could never be a player due to my neuro disorder.
We're happy little Vegemites As bright as bright can be. We all enjoy our Vegemite For breakfast, lunch, and tea. Our mummies say we're growing stronger Every single week, Because we love our Vegemite We all adore our Vegemite It puts a rose in every cheek.
That was my guess. Has to be. He slipped up and told us it was one of his first few camps, but wasn't his first. Gotta be 2007...Wells or Brocail. Gotta be Wells.
I love how you’re almost the only person who doesn’t say “the MLB.” Just “MLB” is the correct form, otherwise you’re saying “the Major League Baseball.” Even guys in MLB say it, hats off to you Matt for not doing so, that’s one of my number one pet peeves!
oh man i wish i was you cause i woul have downed all the vegemite. Aussie pride. btw when you eat vmite your only meant to have a thin layer of it on your toast
Awesome story. Love Baseball ⚾️
Vegamite is the sediment in barrels of beer.
My guess is either Brian Giles or Tony Clark

This video was made long before those things happened
Vegimite is yeast scraped from the bottom of a beer brewing vat.
Interesting!

That's not a question.

This must be the stuff "Men At Work" sang about in their song "Down Under".
It is. Im a Yank that loves it. But, as an Aussie can appreciate, keep that Fosters crap away from me!

Matt is the MLB scripted and are other pro leagues scripted. If so, what does it say in your contract about the MLB being scripted. Be honest !
i kind of don't like that type of baseball punishment hazing culture. It's not like it's the military where mistakes costs lives. relax.
