It only took 6 minutes and 29 seconds to tell me how wrong I was doing fry... Top quality content on UA-cam regarding vocal distortion.
Thank you ^^ I hope this has helped in the right direction :)
You are the only vocal coach that has ever got me to fry, you explain it in such a functional way. Thank you so much!
:D yaaay, I'm glad it worked!
When your practising your vocal fry- at what you assumed was alone at work, and you turn around and a customer is standing at the counter and you don't know how long she was standing ther 😅 and how demon possessed she thinks you are 😆...
😅😅😅 Good one!
My life in summary...
@@AlikiKatriou XD
relatable. I was practicing at a bus stop when someone walked by. 😬
i am 15 years old and still can not believe you helped me do a vocal fry. tysm :3
Yaaay, good for you!!!! :D
ur like, the best teacher ever, why that channel dont have like 2mi subs??? thanks for the awesome content
Thank you :)
Doing Aerosmith covers live taught me to fry without realizing it, lol. But I haven't been able to control it well at all. This is by far the best tutorial I've come across. Thank you 🤘
Haha, yes, Aerosmith will do that XD
This vid only has about 1000 views when I am saying this, but I just wanna say I SO appreciate this information and hope one day to confidently use vocal fry in a professional setting.... Thank you ♥
1.3 k now! Onwards! ;)
^^ I love this as a goal - I believe you'll get there ^^
I finally found why I wasn't making progress. Thank you so muchhh
:D
I have never seen videos explaining this. Thanks, this will help me a lot.
Wow... I tried to learn how to scream by watching tutorials on youtube for years.. after that it didn't work at all. This year I took vocal lessons for learning how to scream.. Now I watched all three videos of you explaining how the vocal fry is done. I immediatly descerned that I have teached been taught so fucking wrong.. Thank you! Your videos are amazing!
Thank you ^^
I've watched so many tutorials on vocal fry and pretty much gave up trying.. I'm so glad I found you! You teach in such a way that it just *clicks*. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, talent and skill!!
yay ^^ Glad to be helping ^^
Amazing content!, waiting for part 4!
Great tutorials! Looking forward to the next part for the vocal fry technique!
gorgeous 🖤
Finally you are back! :D
Thank you for giving away your Tipps. Some great lessons. Looking forward to the next one
This video is so perfect
I just discovered this and binged it all! I am ready to quit my job and join a band! Jk I wish! The advantage of discovering these lessons long ago was time to work on each tutorial.
^^
Thank you for teaching this so thoroughly! I finally feel like on the right track!
Excellent lesson...crystal clear explanation!
yay :D
Awesome video, thank you so much. This has really helped me alot
thank you ^^
wow ...very clear and informative! thank you!
Yay :D
Thanks for the great lesson
Thank you for watching ^^
This was surprisingly difficult for me! Loving this exercise Miss :D
thank you so much for your tuto Aliki
:D
Thank you once again for that tutorial ! Was waiting for that since the precious video about vocal fry, keep going with this excellent work !
Thank you ^^
this switching back and forth exercise helped me figure out how to clean up so much better! And now that i got a real feel for what i need to make my throat do to get a fry i can get a fry in every pitch!
yaaaaaay :D
Amazing content! You should definitely have many more subscribers!
Totally agree! It'll get there - quality will succeed in the end. ;)
I started practicing last summer (2020) but these lessons help so much more! Great details on breath. I'll keep practicing! Thank you so much!
:D yay thank you :D
Great tutorial as always! Thanks for sharing these exercises Aliki 😃 I've been practicing for a long time and I progressed, so I will continue trying to get the "Axl Rose sound" using false chord and fry. I will be waiting for the next video 💪 🤗
:D progress is awesome - keep having fun with it ^^

Thank you!!!
^^
Thank you for these tutorials. And from seing this i can conclude that to learn how to sing high notes without using too much air flow, i should try to understand how to vocal fry. If i can vocal fry in high notes, giving a little more air flow i can learn how to sing that note clean without using too much air, hence having a better tecnique. Ty
Yes yes yes, yes too all of this!!! Ah, this understanding makes me happy ^^
Yay part 3 :D
^^
You are addressing one of the foundations for achieving whistle tone. Do you have video to transition from vocal fry to whistle tone?
Not yet ^.^
hey im loving these vids! youve really helped me, but i feel like you could have more demonstration of each individual step, possibly having some examples from other vocalists cold be good (i know thats a ball ache haha), the explanations are great and easy to undesrtand but yeah a few more examples would be great (also tbh in this particular vid there are a deece amout of examples but ive noticed in others there arent as many)
Noted. Thank you ^.^ Yeah, it varies from day to day; sometimes by brain forgets to demonstrate because this is my preference in lessons - I like to avoid demonstrating so that people don't rely on me and my sound but rely on their own internal experience, sensations and memory. But I'm 100% with you! Will work on it!
feels like I'm moving my tongue to get my fry but achieving similar results to you because otherwise in high pitches my voice simply goes from no sound or just the air passing through to a falsetto note. Very confusing stuff.
Lovely tutorial though, I have to admit there is nobody who explains the topic like you.
I still feel unsure with myself and am worried about the discipline of sticking with fry screaming training but i'll try. Your tutorials are a great help, there is far too much content out there which makes me confused on what i'm supposed to be doing and why it's not working.
Interesting. If that's the case, I would find your fry anyway that you do and then maintain that sound and very, very, very slowly start moving your tongue out. Think of it as an isolation challenge - it isn't necessary, it's just to unlock even more flexibility and options for you :)
ur control is scary
My vocal fry is kinda inconsistent with the speed it goes at is there any way to practice to make it more clean and not changing like pitch
When you say clean, do you actually mean clean - as in less fry? Or are you simply referring to the pitch stability?
Thank you so much for this tutorial it is really helpful !
Is there a way to support your work, like a patreon or something ? I didn't find any in the video description.
Cheers from France :)
That's SO nice of you! 🖤 A rare thing in the world of social media. Kudos and respect to you!
@@to_boldly_roll it's only fair in my opinion. I progressed so much thanks to her tutorial and exercises I feel like I had a personal teacher :)
@@ninism2958 I couldn't agree more. :) She's going through a lot of effort to put these tutorials out - and for FREE! 🖤🤘 Good to see it's appreciated.
Awww!!! Thank you so much!!! This is so nice ^^ I don't have anything set up at the moment, I was thinking of maybe setting up a Ko-fi account. I feel like I wouldn't have time to do Patreon :)
I've been having problems "frying" notes higher than F#. When I reduce my air the note cuts out and as I play around with airflow I then get a kind of squeaking sound. Does that make sense? Is that just because I'm not relaxed enough?
Thanks SO MUCH again, I've commented on many other videos saying the same thing, but I feel like 1000 thanks aren't enough for the work you're putting up, for free too! :))
Yes, that makes sense. Sounds like you're going in the right direction! Yup, it's about relaxation directly on the vocal folds. Maybe try "relaxing" about the pitch accuracy a bit and see if that helps...
Please make more videos on Voc Fry 😭😭
Coming up soon!
Hi, that's for me:
2:00
Ps. Less air, more quiet
this is mega hard, and it would be even harder to actually sing with fry
yup, it's quite tricky and singing with fry isn't the easiest in the beginning... that being said walking is extremely complex and we get used to that quickly enough :)
@@AlikiKatriou i kinda noticed that i can do fry in actual song whilst can't just on demand , with false chord it's opposite
@@TheShmrsh hahaha XD yup, stuff like that happens! Small tip for you...
Start fry in the song then sustain that, pause the song and focus on that feeling. Stop the sound, try making it again.
For false fold, do it on demand, then put on a song and just make that noise over the vocals to begin with - no lyrics, fewer staccato gaps etc.
Once I was in opera voice lesson, I was fighting hard to sustain the highest note of the song and an AMAZING fry come out of me without me making any decision for it XD My teacher stoped imediatly the training hahaha. Could it be that I was not using enough air ? Or squeezing the throat too much ???
Hahaha, I love it when random distortions happen XD I would assume you weren't using enough air, yes :D
so um I'm jealous 🙃
I love you. I would love to video chat with you. Of all the videos I've watched, yours is the most informative and also the most entertaining. Please tell me how we can conNECT!

is it normal that I get the high ones rather easily but the low ones not?
It happens :) Don't worry about it ^^
How do I make it louder?
It depends on your pitch and level of skill with your vocals. I'm not covering how to make it louder yet because I need to lay down a good foundation first.
Aliki, i've been able to manage pitch with my fry, but it still sounds weak and it seems to be like a whisper fry. How can i go from here?
Fry should sound weak in its foundation. When you say it sounds like a whisper do you mean the volume? Or do you mean that there is air leaking out?
@@AlikiKatriou more than volume, i'd say it lacks body. Like i've managed to build some screams that sound black metal af with volume just below speaking level, but i haven't been able to produce meatier fry screams like most modern bands.
@@FranciscoDelaveau I'm not sure what bands you have in mind but a lot of modern metal do a fry & false fold combo distortion, not pure fry...
I can do falsetto I think but when I try to do it lighter, my voice tightens. Tricky. Still beginner I suppose
It's normal for that to happen. I'm glad you noticed it though! Most people are blissfully unaware that everything is getting tighter.
Its really weird in that when i try to activate it in my falsetto range it cuts in and out and sometimes i can do what you described for a couple seconds and then i cant. Great video regardless, and since finding your videos i've made the most progress 🤘
Ah, it sounds to me like you're doing the right thing and you have a good approach. Just make sure you're moving slowly and it should smooth things out :)
@@AlikiKatriou oh good .thanks a lot for the videos
Anyone else really confused on how she goes higher but can still maintain her fry? I thought fry was created by breath manipulation. I cant go high amd do a fry😭
This is probably because we have a tendency to use more air to get higher in pitch rather than using the stretch of the vocal folds. The next set of tutorials is going to try and help people get higher in fry :)
You look tired in this one. We hope you going as well as you can !
thank you very much ^^
Vocal fry has to be one of the worst trends to hit the movers world. Surly we should be doing all we can to get rid of it, not encourage it!
I don't use it in my band but my job as a singing teacher isn't to make aesthetic choices on others' art or expression :) I just provide the info...
what's wrong about vocal fry?
I find your clean voice when you speak very ruined. Probably because of this practice?
Thank you for your concern. My speaking voice is a choice I made a few years ago. I can change it at will. What worries you about it? :)
