Greater than means strictly greater than. Greater than or equal to means one root of both equation is equal and other are more or less. For e.g if x = 2,3 & y=3,4 Then we'll say x is less than or equal to y as 3 is equal for both and 3>2 & 4>2 also

(X-a)(x-b)=0 will be the factors for X & (y+t)(y+s)=0 will be factors for Y. And after separating them,we can clearly understand.
Reason,
For ax² + bx + c

Since +ve is greater than negative

Since, in one case x will be greater and in another Y will be greater
Hence CND
