Gun laws in Russia and America are totally miles apart. We have a constitutional right to own a gun or several guns, for that matter. The most an American has to wait for a gun is 3 days. Also children age 12 or older can own a gun with a Hunters' Safety Course, put on by the Department of Natural Resources.

Absolutely. The approach is very different. In Russia gun laws are all about hunting. That's the reason why you have to own two stages of simple hunting guns, getting yourself a hunting license and only then you get the right to own a rifle. And you as a civilian never get a right to have a handgun or an auto-rifle. They are not useful for hunting, but very useful for crimes. For people outside Murrica (those people exist) the initial right to carry a gun against other people sound weird (for me as well) and I wouldn't like to live in a country where any insane person without any gun-culture could carry a gun. You know, "popping and flopping ma glizzi prrrra-pa-pa". I know it's intended to be a protection of democracy - the mecanism when a nation can stand up against government, but it's unrealistic. Feds would always have more firepower. And it only makes problems in contacts with law enforcement. But hand guns with rubber bullets are allowed for a Russian citizen and their purpouse is not hunting - they are intended to use against people.

As a Canadian, I’m jealous of his rubber bullet handgun, we’re not allowed to defend ourselves with anything but our hands here in Canada, even pepper spray or a baseball bat are considered weapons when used in defence. We still have hunting rifles, but very limited clips for them, grandfathered in handguns must be stored and only used at gun range… so if you’re a criminal, you’d still be able to find all the illegal weapons on the street no problem, or gun ranges would be the place to go ‘shopping’ for handguns. Lol!

If it were a proper gun, it would only make the legal matters worse. We have very strict legislation regarding “exceeding the limits of necessary self-defense”. People go to jail for “unaliving”, like, home thieves or sometimes even if a potential threat to their health(life?) was really present - that’s a serious legal case for a criminal lawyer to prove that it was within proper self-defense. For example, a man was convicted for manslaughter when an extra-industrial-strength siren that he’d installed at home caused a fatal heart attack to a home thief.

It seems Russian laws are more restrictive than in the US. No concealed carrying of actual lethal pistols. You have to progress from shot guns. Still impressive stockpile of guns. Surely fun since on a professional shooting range. I personally don’t need guns at home and I live in a very safe community so self defense isn’t an issue. I like mostly the real world physics. The laws are more restrictive (which I as an owner of guns consider to be not so bad), but the court precedents are terrible for guns owners. If you defend your life and your family with a gun, 90% possibility you get a term, now matter how violent and determined was the guy who tried to rob or kill you. Both the law and the practice about "limits of self-defence" are liducrous.

Short info about gun laws in Russia: Ownership: 1) No standard handguns to own (only pistols with rubber bullets - so called trauma weapon) 2) No full-auto weapons 3) For first 2 years its possible to own only shotguns with mag capacity up to 2 rounds (so its basically double-barreled shotguns) 4) After 2 years of successfull ownership you are able to buy up to 10-round mag-capacity shotgun (well, smoothbored guns talking more precicesly, there are some AKs with special caliber which are also allowed) 5) After three-more years (5 total) of successfull ownership you can finally buy normal rifles. Still 10-round mag capacity restriction. 6) Amount of guns restriction: up to 5 shotguns + up to 5 rifles + up to 2 trauma handguns + up to 5 air rifles (with power more than 7.5J). If you need more, you have to get collectioner license 7) You can do reloading of rounds with the caliber of your guns 8) Handing your weapon to another person is forbidden. Not only giving, even handing 9) Owning a gun in Russia as a foreigner: you need to have permanent residence. Check SurvivalRussia channel. As i know Lars doesn't have Russian citizenship, but owns guns Shooting at gun club: 1) Possible to shoot normal handguns 2) Possible to use more than 10-round mags 3) Still no full-auto guns 4) At gun club 2/5 years restrictions are not applied 5) Not sure about handing your weapon to another person at gun club, but many of them allow that (well, close their eyes on that)

I’d love for Mr. First to come to West Virginia and observe our gun culture, it’s thicker here than almost anywhere in the world, if our government were to try to take our guns it’d start a civil war, they’d need an army of over 8 million professional soldiers to do it. Our concealed carry permit is recognized by 38 states, more than any other in the union.

One day I hope we can meet if you visit WV. The model 1897 that you had pulled out is in great condition, just like mine! Those are pretty rare here. Since the laws here are relaxed we can really have some fun. Exploding targets, full automatic, high capacity magazines, special military ammo like penetrators or explosive or incendiary, and concealed carry without a permit even in a vehicle if you are a native West Virginian over 21. Some say this is too relaxed but that is not my opinion, we have very low violent crime here

Guns aren't banned anywhere. In Europe you can own guns in any country, you just must have a license first. Which is common sense, because then some lunatic can't just walk into a store and buy a gun. If you're sane, don't have a criminal record and prove you're capable of owning one, you can have one, and people have loads of them. People in the US have this false idea that only they have guns and nobody else in the world does. Switzerland for example, which is a super peaceful country, has more civilians weapons per capita than USA for example.

Very few LEGAL exceptions. Of course criminals buying on black market don't care one bit. They have ZERO restrictions. So restricting good people makes little sense.

The reason some states don’t bother to make a background check mandatory for private party transfers is that it creates a red tape headache for law abiding citizens but criminals just ignore the restrictions. It’s unenforceable. I have a friend who is otherwise a law abiding citizen but bought a gun illegally via private transfer. Not to use in crime but because he just didn’t want to do all the paperwork and pay a couple hundred dollars for processing of the paperwork. Private party transfer background checks are unenforceable. European style restrictions on gun ownership would not work in America, it would lead to the same disaster as prohibition, just with guns instead of alcohol. We already see some small samples of this in places like Chicago and Detroit. Guns are very difficult to have legally there, but that does nothing to stop criminals from getting them illegally from the black market, and despite being some of the most anti-gun parts of the country, those cities have some of the highest homicide rates. When you have a responsible citizen with a gun for self-defense and a criminal with a gun for crime, and you pass a law to take away guns or prevent them from being accessible (ie: prohibition on concealed carry) then the responsible citizen is rendered defenseless and the criminal is still as dangerous as ever.

Is it that crazy of idea to sell guns only to responsible owners? By the way if you drive while drunk your gun license will be revoked, as it shows that you're not a responsible person. Rubber bullets are more than enough for self-defense, if you think it's just a plastic - no, at close range it's still painful to take a shot and it can break some bones and ribs. You're also not allowed to aim at the head even for self-defense situations. I personally like the idea that you can gradually upgrade your equipment instead of just buying AR from Walmart to solve your first amendment issues with the second one.

Rubber bullets are not enough for self-defense, I don’t care how much they hurt. Real bullets hurt more, I assure you, but that doesn’t stop criminals from taking multiple real bullets to go down all the time. Self-defense training in the United States with a handgun is to continue firing until the threat is stopped, and self-defense experts who study this for a living estimate that depending on shot placement it can take up to 5 rounds to the torso to take down an attacker quickly. A rubber gun isn’t much different from pepper spray, both being nonlethal devices which cannot easily stop a really determined attacker.

You have to get permit, all guns are registered, but compared to all west states, you can carry for self defense, if you got correct group of permit. Countries like Poland, Slovakia are similar I think. EU is trying to restrict things, because of their west approach to self defense - Brusel do not recognize that right. Except SVD a sniper rifle only in its name - it's used not by sniper units, but within infantry detachments in order to engage enemy infantry before they get within the assault rifle range. This concept has been around since 60s, but has solidified about twenty years later, and SVD was among the pioneers.

For the most part it seems the gun industry in Russia is for the more wealthy, it is highly structured which is, well, it is their system, different than US for now. It is an awakening to me, my understanding had been that citizens would not be able to possess a gun.

I got my shotgun certificate when i was 16 years old in 1974 & a sectiom one firearms when i was 18 years old & have had guns ever since!, Trouble was i had to have my Mossberg 500 restricted to 3 shots from the original 6, that pissed me off!!. & done nothing for gun crime.
Dude buying a gun in Russia is NOTHING like America lol. In America, you can go buy a real gun a.k.a semi auto AK or AR at 18 if you can pass a background check period. No starting out with anything first. But Russia is more open to it than I would have thought anyways. This was still informative.

As someone who’s lived my entire life in a state that has pretty relaxed gun laws and was gifted my first Ruger 10/22 on my 7th bday I find it cool to see what firearms culture is like in other states and especially other countries. I walk into a gun store when I was in moscow. I ask them if I could take a picture and they said yes. I fired my BIL SKS at a makeshift range. We had a lot of fun. Absolutely. The approach is very different.
In Russia gun laws are all about hunting. That's the reason why you have to own two stages of simple hunting guns, getting yourself a hunting license and only then you get the right to own a rifle. And you as a civilian never get a right to have a handgun or an auto-rifle. They are not useful for hunting, but very useful for crimes.
For people outside Murrica (those people exist) the initial right to carry a gun against other people sound weird (for me as well) and I wouldn't like to live in a country where any insane person without any gun-culture could carry a gun. You know, "popping and flopping ma glizzi prrrra-pa-pa".
I know it's intended to be a protection of democracy - the mecanism when a nation can stand up against government, but it's unrealistic. Feds would always have more firepower. And it only makes problems in contacts with law enforcement.
But hand guns with rubber bullets are allowed for a Russian citizen and their purpouse is not hunting - they are intended to use against people.

As a Canadian, I’m jealous of his rubber bullet handgun, we’re not allowed to defend ourselves with anything but our hands here in Canada, even pepper spray or a baseball bat are considered weapons when used in defence. We still have hunting rifles, but very limited clips for them, grandfathered in handguns must be stored and only used at gun range… so if you’re a criminal, you’d still be able to find all the illegal weapons on the street no problem, or gun ranges would be the place to go ‘shopping’ for handguns. Lol!

If it were a proper gun, it would only make the legal matters worse. We have very strict legislation regarding “exceeding the limits of necessary self-defense”. People go to jail for “unaliving”, like, home thieves or sometimes even if a potential threat to their health(life?) was really present - that’s a serious legal case for a criminal lawyer to prove that it was within proper self-defense. For example, a man was convicted for manslaughter when an extra-industrial-strength siren that he’d installed at home caused a fatal heart attack to a home thief.

It seems Russian laws are more restrictive than in the US. No concealed carrying of actual lethal pistols. You have to progress from shot guns. Still impressive stockpile of guns. Surely fun since on a professional shooting range. I personally don’t need guns at home and I live in a very safe community so self defense isn’t an issue. I like mostly the real world physics. The high kinetic energy. How we can model the impact of a projectile with a Hertz cone.

The laws are more restrictive (which I as an owner of guns consider to be not so bad), but the court precedents are terrible for guns owners. If you defend your life and your family with a gun, 90% possibility you get a term, now matter how violent and determined was the guy who tried to rob or kill you. Short info about gun laws in Russia:
Ownership:
1) No standard handguns to own (only pistols with rubber bullets - so called trauma weapon)
2) No full-auto weapons
3) For first 2 years its possible to own only shotguns with mag capacity up to 2 rounds (so its basically double-barreled shotguns)
4) After 2 years of successfull ownership you are able to buy up to 10-round mag-capacity shotgun (well, smoothbored guns talking more precicesly, there are some AKs with special caliber which are also allowed)
5) After three-more years (5 total) of successfull ownership you can finally buy normal rifles. Still 10-round mag capacity restriction.
6) Amount of guns restriction: up to 5 shotguns + up to 5 rifles + up to 2 trauma handguns + up to 5 air rifles (with power more than 7.5J). If you need more, you have to get collectioner license
7) You can do reloading of rounds with the caliber of your guns
8) Handing your weapon to another person is forbidden. Not only giving, even handing
9) Owning a gun in Russia as a foreigner: you need to have permanent residence. Check SurvivalRussia channel. As i know Lars doesn't have Russian citizenship, but owns guns
Shooting at gun club:
1) Possible to shoot normal handguns
2) Possible to use more than 10-round mags
3) Still no full-auto guns
4) At gun club 2/5 years restrictions are not applied
5) Not sure about handing your weapon to another person at gun club, but many of them allow that (well, close their eyes on that)

I’d love for Mr. First to come to West Virginia and observe our gun culture, it’s thicker here than almost anywhere in the world, if our government were to try to take our guns it’d start a civil war, they’d need an army of over 8 million professional soldiers to do it. Our concealed carry permit is recognized by 38 states, more than any other in the union.
Will add this point in my schedule when if one day will be able to visit US and make a trip across gun museums and legendary old west places...

@@_upiter-5.if our government and the law enforcement agencies here were not fascist by nature I would agree, but we might need them one day to resist, as our constitution demands us to do. A civil war happened here once and might happen again. There’s a lot of people that would choose to be prepared and equipped to resist those they deem as possible aggressors. It’s sad we cannot rule out our own government in this area, and they have much much bigger guns.

Guns aren't banned anywhere. In Europe you can own guns in any country, you just must have a license first. Which is common sense, because then some lunatic can't just walk into a store and buy a gun. If you're sane, don't have a criminal record and prove you're capable of owning one, you can have one, and people have loads of them. People in the US have this false idea that only they have guns and nobody else in the world does. Switzerland for example, which is a super peaceful country, has more civilians weapons per capita than USA for example.

Depending on the state, it is also possible to buy a gun privately without a background check. The reason some states don’t bother to make a background check mandatory for private party transfers is that it creates a red tape headache for law abiding citizens but criminals just ignore the restrictions. It’s unenforceable. I have a friend who is otherwise a law abiding citizen but bought a gun illegally via private transfer. Not to use in crime but because he just didn’t want to do all the paperwork and pay a couple hundred dollars for processing of the paperwork. Private party transfer background checks are unenforceable.
European style restrictions on gun ownership would not work in America, it would lead to the same disaster as prohibition, just with guns instead of alcohol.
We already see some small samples of this in places like Chicago and Detroit. Guns are very difficult to have legally there, but that does nothing to stop criminals from getting them illegally from the black market, and despite being some of the most anti-gun parts of the country, those cities have some of the highest homicide rates. When you have a responsible citizen with a gun for self-defense and a criminal with a gun for crime, and you pass a law to take away guns or prevent them from being accessible (ie: prohibition on concealed carry) then the responsible citizen is rendered defenseless and the criminal is still as dangerous as ever.

As an American as a kid I remember buying my first gun which was an Izhmash Saiga(civilian AK-103) first US gun owner of the rifle and the Box was all in Russian and the instructions were as well. I'm an American and it took me until I was 55 to purchase my first gun because of the Democrat socialist Progressive agenda and wanting to defund the police and extra crime . I need to get my concealed carry permit but I live in Virginia and thankfully I don't live in California and New York or Illinois or especially those northern states because at least we can defend ourselves without being arrested and convicted with murder or attempted murder . only in a socialist state that has been destroyed by Democrat politicians for 40 years or 30 years consider the victim trying to defend themselves from the criminal . that's insane

Rubber bullets are more than enough for self-defense, if you think it's just a plastic - no, at close range it's still painful to take a shot and it can break some bones and ribs. You're also not allowed to aim at the head even for self-defense situations.
I personally like the idea that you can gradually upgrade your equipment instead of just buying AR from Walmart to solve your first amendment issues with the second one.

You have to get permit, all guns are registered, but compared to all west states, you can carry for self defense, if you got correct group of permit. Countries like Poland, Slovakia are similar I think. EU is trying to restrict things, because of their west approach to self defense - Brusel do not recognize that right. Somewhat same mentality like Canada...

More restrictive than presently in the US, I could not hear whether you can possess your firearms at home and whether you are allowed self defense with your weapons. For the most part it seems the gun industry in Russia is for the more wealthy, it is highly structured which is, well, it is their system, different than US for now. It is an awakening to me, my understanding had been that citizens would not be able to possess a gun.

Dude buying a gun in Russia is NOTHING like America lol. In America, you can go buy a real gun a.k.a semi auto AK or AR at 18 if you can pass a background check period. No starting out with anything first. But Russia is more open to it than I would have thought anyways. This was still informative.

As someone who’s lived my entire life in a state that has pretty relaxed gun laws and was gifted my first Ruger 10/22 on my 7th bday I find it cool to see what firearms culture is like in other states and especially other countries. Very cool to see thanks man👍 but please learn basic firearm safety. It’s embarrassing seeing an American go to a foreign gun store and out his finger on the trigger immediately when he’s handed a rifle😂

I walk into a gun store when I was in moscow. I ask them if I could take a picture and they said yes. I fired my BIL SKS at a makeshift range. We had a lot of fun. I had a chance to have him come to america and I took him deer hunting with me. Although I am no longer married I bet he still remember the times we had.
