When I was in college and home on break and headed back to school, I learned the hard way to tell my dad that my plane was scheduled to leave one hour earlier than it actually was supposed to leave, because he would drop me off at the airport with 10 minutes to check in and race down to the last gate on the concourse. But this was back in the early 1970's, and times are different now. I'm wondering, though, does she always fly to see him, or does he ever fly to see her? If he flies to see her, maybe she should show him what it's like to be kept waiting. If he can't make the effort to pick her up on time now, then he probably won't change, and if he can't make the effort to be on time for you, then he's disrespecting you, and that's not right.
I remember when I was a kid, whenever we were going out as a family, we would all be ready to go, and my mom would be sitting at her vanity in her underwear, putting on her makeup, and she would always say, "I'm ready! I just have to put on my dress!" Well, after I heard her say that one time too many, I finally said, "Mom! Can you go outside dressed as you are? No. You're not ready." That was the last time she said that she was ready when she wasn't. I might have been about 12 when I said that. If I had said that I was ready to go someplace when I clearly wasn't, my parents would not have been happy.
Some people are just time challenged. I don't understand it, because I am usually way too early. But there are people who just don't get how long it takes to dress, or travel to a certain place, or what time they need to wake up to do what they need to do before they even leave the house. These people will give themselves 15 minutes to do what they need 30 minutes for. And they also do not get the idea of speeding up, either.
It would be nice to see current family photos to see which children belong to which parents. Now that you’re all grown up. Many of have watched since cake boss first started and you were babies or very young. Just an idea for your show.
To be honest being chronically late is a sign of disrespect. His time is more important than hers. If this is happening and you have already talked about it with an no adjustment has been made then he doesn’t respect you. Time to end it.
