Not as good and not even close to the original Young Rascals Midnight hour. Not what I want to hear. I was around when the original was very popular. Disappointed.
Big Love I use to play in a rock band around the same time as the Rascals but we were a little younger. We covered a lot of the Rascals tunes when we played out among other groups which we did all over the area back then in Jersey. Most of us were still in High School. We played it like they did the right way. He doesn’t do any of his music the way he did back in the day. Because he doesn’t I would not pay to go see him again. If you are going to do it do it like you recorded it. Jassing it up does nothing for me or the song. I rather go home and play the album to hear it the right way. Sorry someone has to speak out on occasion once and awhile to let them know not all of us approve of the way they do things today. By the way The Young Rascals during the mid 60’s on were our Idols. My 3 Favorite Rascals songs were “Slow Down”, “I ain’t going to eat out my heart anymore” and “In the Midnight Hour”. Loved the B3 Hammond Sound. It was hard to cover these songs well on a Farfisa organ which I did. I don’t play anymore but I do own a B3 Hammond that sits in my Living Room and a couple of original Vox Continental Organs and a few keyboards.
