I was there in 1970/71. (Platoon Sergeant was Tony Daniels with Corporal Kendall aiding and abetting). Apologies for this detail (I was only 19), but when on guard duty facing the married quarters and watching the wives hanging up their washing, I developed my own crafty end of knob tweaking to relieve the situation, if you catch my drift. Better than trying to meet a girl in the Parochial Hall or Buttery Bar or even The Flamingo..
I did a lot of service at this depot , which included to colours parades and much much more. In know every inch. Many fond memories. It is sad to see it in such a state. Thank you .
Not at all ,it was an honor to do what I did, and serve with such wonderful people. My memories are grand. I bashed that square for thousands of hours and met the Queen , the Queen Mother, Prince Andrew , princess Alice etc on it. Our motto is Faugh -A-Ballagh .

Ballymena... (it's where I did my basic training in 1964).
Really. I remember hearing the soilders training and the frequent helicopter flyovers and all the activity round the base. I'll miss it
