    2:15 i feel like the color of the skin editor button here could get a different color instead of the same as beatmap editor

      Yeah, having the UR bar on, but the rest of the HUD off during gameplay is how a large percentage of people play osu in stable. The only way to replicate this in lazer also makes it so you can't check your accuracy or combo or whatever during breaks like a lot of people do. It has always been really strange to me that lazer still doesn't have this important functionality.

      i think you can just do this by deleting everything else in the editor but that wouldnt be the same for u guys (thats how i play it and have no problems with it)
      edit: maybe they can add an "alternative state" for the skins where there are 2 states of the skin you can edit separately (or more); and you can switch out between them during gameplay. first state would only be the ur bar and the 2nd state would be whatever you want or vice versa

      Would any of you be interested in the ability to have two versions of limited visibility, alongside full on and off? hi-vis would be the most that you might want to see, lo-vis would be the least, full on could be everything and off could be nothing. For Etterna (update of stepmania, which is a clone of ddr, and plays kinda like osu!mania), I turn off everything except the error bar - no judgements, combo, health, song time, strikeline (can't remember what it's called exactly) - literally the only thing visible are the notes, and the error bar (pretty much the equivalent of the bar under the big number at 4:05, but it sits basically dead center of the screen. it gives me an idea of my current accuracy without needing to see the noisy judgement text). It would be nice to set that as my "off" state, to have a lo-viz state that includes current percent, song time, and health, a hi-viz state that includes maybe song name, judgements, notes per second, and a full viz that adds in the strikeline, my name, song difficulty, nps graph, goal accuracy, judgement counter, and whatever else is missing. I think it would be cool to have customizable states of visibility basically, because sometimes I want to play with everything off, and sometimes it would be nice to only turn certain things on at the press of a button, maybe even mid song. (if i could hit tab to toggle lo-viz from off for example, that would be awesome. on breaks, i could hit tab and get the remaining song time, my current percent accuracy, and my current health. hit tab again and it goes away.)

    My suggestion to Osu!Mania on mobile is instead of making the columns wider and tapping them, just devide the whole screen into 4 other columns to tap them. It’s the same system as Funky Friday in Roblox if you don’t know what I mean. Thx for the update btw.

    What about UR only being visible right after playing or watching a replay, will that ever change? It's quite an annoyance

      yeah, eventually this will change. we need to make things fast enough to calculate this without running through the replay.

      @@DeanHerbertMooCow What about storing the UR in the replay file itself? After you play through an osu! map, the UR is already calculated. So when downloading the replay, just store the UR somewhere in the replay file.

    Super satisfied with the new UR, which has had its speed adjusted to suit DT and HT, because now I can determine the playing speed to better suit my UR without being subjective like the calculation of the previous UR.🎉

    lazer is great, i love how seamless multiplayer lobbies are. i've completely switched away from stable.
    the only thing i wish for is that i could set a star rating as host which would prevent players from deviating from it. some people become very troublesome when i ask them to not play songs over the star limit i added to the lobby title.
    i understand though if that's more of a me issue and it's not strictly necessary, because i can just remove maps or kick. it just brings down the vibe a bit.

    3:21 IT WAS THIS!!! This weird slider animation was the reason I never stuck to laser!!!!
    I remember, It was 2021 and I played laser for the first time, and out of all the things, it wasn't the foreign ui or settings, but this jarring sliderball animation thingie that made me never want to play again.
    Thanks for fixing this. I will play this weekend for the first time in 2 years

    1:08 What if for each control point that's outside the screen, a bubble appears near the edge of the screen right above/below/left/right of it, and that bubble can be dragged to adjust the off-screen point (then it snaps back near edge of screen)?

    A really cool idea would be to add an “auto NF” feature kinda like multis have where you can keep playing but your score is calculated as a NF or failed play.
    Edit: maybe make this a toggle-able thing in settings rather than a mod?

      That, or something like it, would be a very nice addition. The game design of deleting the player's score no matter how good or bad it was simply because they misaimed a single stream has always just been a waste of people's time.

      lazer uses opentabletdriver, so if it supports smoothing you could ask peppy to add option to enable it ingame, and if not, you should ask OTD devs first

    I love Lazer, I've been using it as my main client for years now. I'm so happy to see the progress it's made. One of the changes I'm most happiest about is sliders getting mania-style release timing, it makes for much more interesting charting. Thanks ppy and everyone!

    it’s great to see more changes to the editor! there is one thing really holding it back though and it seems to go ignored on the github - individual slider elements still aren’t editable
    essentially one of the biggest things holding lazer back from being able to create a rankable map is that you can only hitsound the slider as one object rather than 3 separate objects (head, body, tail) like in days past. i really do think this is the last thing that needs to be changed for it to be technically possible to meet the ranking criteria with a lazer map, and i hope we see this change sooner than later. with ranked play coming very soon, it only makes sense to have a (still barebones) functional editor for creating rankable maps

    Do messages still have a delay in lazer ? Currently in stable it can take up to 10 seconds for an in-game message to reach the other person, which can be quite frustrating when chatting with someone

      I don't know if you have tried chatting in lazer yet, but as of ~1 year ago lazer switched to the same near-real-time websocket system that's used on web. I'll give you the exact version this was released in in a moment - typing this on phone right now.

      Found it - it's the Nov 17 2022 (v2022.1117.0) update.
      Note that messages sent from stable will still show up in real time, but messages received from stable may still get delayed.

      Short answer: not now, and not for the foreseeable future.
      Long (probably too long) answer:
      "I mean, we've seen in recent years that a lot of the big games are, for instance, when they release a sequel - not to mention any names - they'll release a sequel to a game and just shut down the old one. Even people that have bought it just don't have access anymore. And I mean, I see that and I get pretty annoyed at it. It's not the way I would do it and it's not the way I'm going to do it with lazer."
      "[...] it's going to be a very gradual thing and it's going to be up to the users to really make the switch. I wouldn't care if people decided that lazer was just bad and they decided to stay on stable for the rest of their life. That just means we haven't done our job."
      "[...] the important thing is that people that are enjoying the game right now, I want them to be able to continue to enjoy the game that they know, which is why stable is going to be around for many years to come. We're going to see new players come into the game and their first experience is going to be lazer. That's all they're going to know. They're going to look back at stable and be like, "What is this client? It looks so old." So i think we're going to see the new players coming in, that's going to be some of the people that increase the population of lazer, but then there's also going to be a gradual migration of the existing users as people become more receptive for one reason or another, if we get the new features in which they're waiting for, or if they just give it another try and give it a try for long enough that they've become used to it and realize it's better. The hope is that we can eventually get to that 100% number like we did with fallback and stable."

    Love these videos, but I think they would be even better if you did go more in depth about the changes. I think if you're watching one of these videos already you probably want full explanations of things

      ehhhh not really, If you want it to be detailed just read the change-log. I definitely prefer the less detail personally

      Maybe this video wasn't a great one to comment on as I actually think this one did a great job, It's a relatively small update and it did a great job imo.
      But in some previous ones, I think maybe you skimmed over some of the more technical changes a little too fast in order to not lose the attention spans of an average osu! player.
      I'm not very good of summarizing my thoughts, but just a slightly more in depth explanation of some of the more technical changes would be awesome and make these already incredibly videos even better imo.@@DeanHerbertMooCow

    Would it be possible to make the argon skin more readable? I don’t know exactly how to describe it, but I find that it’s very cluttered and impossible to know what I’m doing at a given moment, could be that the circles are too solid of a color?

    Very nice update! A small idea that could really make the game better: A seperate leaderboard for touchscreen players.
    It is definetly not fair to compare normal players and touchscreen players, so a differend leaderboard, but with the same pp system would work in my opinion.

      Really narrowminded idea. Just because Touchscreen is able to outperform the "normal“ playstyle on some specific maps you find it not fair to compare them, but any other playstyle (like mouseonly) you completely disregard cause you see no threat from it. Might as well do seperate leaderboards for Tablet player and for wooting players …

      @@thefakebazuso1280 You missed the point. Mouse players or any other players don't have a literal nerf everytime they play. Touchscreen players do. Have you seen a touchscreen player in the top 10 recently? No, because it's impossible, no matter how skilled someone is.

    idk if this has been answered before or I'm stupid but, would it be possible to have osu stable map sorting in lazer?

      It's already there from v2023.908.0 (Sep 9 2023) update (try sorting by difficulty in lazer!), though a redesign is planned (which will also include grouping, if that's what you need).

      @@2qbx grouping is exactly what i need, also the difficulty sorting is Bleugh. I don't want to keep guessing if my maps are on 5 stars, 6 stars, or 7 just by the map card slide thingy -- the one that you scroll up and down on. I also dont want to frequently adjust the difficulty range slider to limit or broaden my range of star diff. They shoukd really just group them.

      ​@@wrongfulhermityeah, I can understand your frustration on viewing the difficulty of maps in that sorting mode. The way the redesign draft aims to do - having a badge showing the numeric SR value next to ranked status - seems to be a good way forward, but I don't know if it's possible from a technical standpoint to implement that in the current UI.
