Great news! Now you can install iMessage on Android.
In a bid to overcome the compatibility issues between Apple's iMessage and RCS-supporting apps on Android, Nothing has introduced a solution with its new messaging app, Nothing Chats.
Developed in collaboration with Sunbird Messaging, Nothing Chats ensures iMessage compatibility, offering coveted features such as blue bubble messaging, full support for group chats, live typing indicators, and full-resolution media sharing. Additional features like read receipts, message reactions, and replies are expected soon.
Available exclusively for Nothing Phone (2) users on the Google Play Store from November 17, Nothing Chats operates by utilizing Sunbird's patented process. This involves creating and validating an Apple ID on an Apple device, which users then use to log in to the Nothing Chats app. The app leverages Sunbird's network of Mac mini computers across Europe and North America as a relay for sending and receiving iMessage-compatible texts and media.
Nothing emphasizes the privacy of user data, stating that all Nothing Chats messages are encrypted, ensuring that neither Sunbird nor Nothing can access the shared messages or files. At launch, Nothing Chats will be exclusive to Nothing Phone (2) users in the US, Canada, UK, and EU.
