How to Create a Poll on Facebook in 2023

- You can create a poll on Facebook and survey your Facebook audience. Facebook polls only work on Facebook Groups. You can’t create a poll on a personal Facebook profile or Facebook pages. It used to be available on Facebook pages, but they have removed that option.
To create a poll, simply open a Facebook group. Click to create a new post and you’ll find the create a poll option in the three dots.
With Facebook polls, you can allow people to add their own option if they don't see one you created for them. You can also allow people to choose multiple options instead of just one.

Thanks for this. Saved me a lot of frustration just learning the hard truth of it all. Considering how easy it is to run a poll on Twitter or Instagram, Facebook's motivations are mind-boggling.
I can't find anywhere WHY they decided to do this. It makes no sense!
I hate facebook more and more each day precisely because issues like this... lets constrain our users as much as possible
Glad I planned to do a social campaign heavily relying on polls for a client and Facebook is now removing it almost everywhere 🙄…it’s like they’re trying to make our lives more difficult.

thank you for the video. Taking polls off of pages is just another of many examples of facebook limiting the reach for business pages to upcharge you to reach even 1/3rd the people we reached in just 2019. Polls were a huge part of my business pages & drew a ton of activity.

Thank you, but this does not work as of now I've discovered. Even when creating group posts. I really don't get why would they remove such an essential tool for opinion sourcing.

Except "Facebook removed polls for pages" doesn't say WHY they did. Though I don't blame him for not knowing. Facebook seems to be insistant on never explaining that to anyone, ever.

I would love to create a poll on Facebook without having to create a group page. Hoping Facebook changes this option to allow people to do a poll

Is it just me, or are polls only available for 2 days now? My group polls close automatically after 2 days, and I see no options for changing the timeline.

My facebook group posts are all expiring the polls after 7 days. I can't find a why around this. :(
Same. It used to be, apparently, that you could set the duration...but no more. It's a bummer!
Is there an option to change the duration of the poll? I found videos that says their is a way to select 1 day, 1 week or custom but I can't find it. Thanks
I need a poll to last more than a week, which is now FB default setting. It changed about 3-4 months ago. It might be old info, but when searching, says you can change that length of time that people in the group can vote, but I've not been able to locate a drop down menu as described. If that possibility still exists, it would be a great addition to your content. Thank you for the backstory here about Polls as well.

We used polls to sign up for group live crafting events. You would tap a time and that would become your spot. It made it really easy to see who was signed up for what time and create a graphic of the event. Now we have to read through so many comments to see who signed up for what time. We still can’t use the method in the above video because we have people that aren’t presenting live in the group as well. You know they won’t read if we say this poll is just for presenters. I’m trying to find an outside source now I guess to create sign up polls for free. They had to go and make it difficult to do these things.
Thank you. This confirms what I found as well. What I was looking for was a way to have a poll up for a longer period of time. The polls feature used to have a default run time of 1 week. Now it only runs for 2 days and the duration can no longer be set by the creator of the poll.

A very helpful and clearly explained video, thank you so much. It's so maddening that FB now disallow polls on pages! I want to create a poll on my fan page for fans to pick their favourite Kate Bush videos, and it seems that now I can't.
It's now gone from Groups also. Something must be up behind the scenes with FB polls if it's this difficult to do.
It's a shame that FB removed poll option from FB pages. Thanks a lot for the video!! I wasted so much time going through older posts which were created to address this, but no longer relevant. Anyway, at least now I know it's not possible in FB pages.
I’m literally the admin of a group I did what you said before I found the video and after. Poll just does not appear as an option for me.

Excellent video. It answered my query clearly and although it was not the answer I was hoping for, it saved me tearing out my hair searching. It is a real shame they took out the option on our own home page.

It's absolutely moronic limiting it this way. The poll option is extremely useful and stripping the funtion from most of the places where it's most needed is absolutely ridiculous
Right? Like... why GROUPS of all places? Business pages need them the most, and personal pages could use them for a lot of fun. How many people even RUN groups?
Jan 2023, I admin a large group and do not see a poll option when I go to make a post. I do not see polls as a feature to add on. Is it completely gone from groups also now?
I've noticed that on the Facebook Group - it says it's expired when I schedule it. Any tips on how to fix that?
Im also having trubble with the Poll run time... after what i have been able to find on google it seems to be fixed to 7 days... but my scheduled Polls run out before 7 days... not exactly sure how long before thoug?... But if anyone have a fix... I will be very happy to hear about it!
Any know-how you can share on how to change the duration/expiration around polls in Facebook Groups? Google says that used to be a thing, lol, and I'd really like it to still be a thing because it's a bummer to have new people in the group not be able to vote on a poll after 7 days or whatever the default duration is.
No kidding, I run a group that depends on polls to help people decide on activities, now I'm seeing that they automatically expire after about a week-- whereas there used to be an option to choose "Never"-- and it's incredibly frustrating (not to mention yet another needless change on the site's part). Really wish he had addressed that here. It's at the point now where I feel like I'm just gonna have to post a link to an outside polling site IN Facebook. If it ain't broke F**kerberg, don't fix it!!

You can turn the poll option on and off in groups I was told but I’m not sure where in the setting for the page you can find that option! Good luck!

Apparently Not all groups! 🤷♀️ I see it in one of my groups but not the one I want it in 😕. Have a quiz option but I have to choose an answer 😩
I've been doing polls for over 10 years. It is NOT an option in one of the many groups I admin. It is very much needed in that one! Reported to FB, and no response (as usual).

It's on groups, but on group events... no. That's really helpful now I need to ask a bunch of people when and where they want the event to take place. I can't tag them all, I can't message them as a group, so all I can do is DM them individually like a weirdo?! Facebook is so rubbish. If I didn't have to use it for work I wouldn't bother at all!

Before you could make a poll and decide for how long it's going to be running. Now you don't have that option anymore. Or have I missed where I can change that? I had a poll running and after 5 dys you couldn't vote anymore. That sucked!
My experience is different, i made a new page some months ago. And i created a poll last month. But now when i try to create another pool on my page there is not any option available. If the feature is removed how did i able to do that in the first place.

On my personal page, group I’m an admin of, under events, scroll down and “poll” can be turned on. The Poll post format says it is added to my group. I go back to “create a post” click on 3 dots and “poll” is an option.

So…could I create a Group page (say, “ABC Employees”), create a poll there, and then share it to my “ABC Business Page?” Would people be able to respond to a shared poll post?

My polls expire! This morning's poll says "Timed Poll Ended" in the afternoon. I can't find an answer on Fb Help Center, nor can I find any place with a time limit drop down when I set my poll up. My set up screen looks exactly like yours. Please help! Thank you!

Gawd, I HATE FB. What's the point of a "poll" if it's BIASED as to where a poll could be posited?! It's as if FB does NOT want people doing this. You know, gathering USEFUL information. 🙄
I have a question about something new in the group polls. Usually I used to see not just % of votes for an option but who of my friends voted for each of the options alltogether. Right now I can see only %-s and if I want to click to an option to see the persons who chose it - I can't see in the very same moment the persons who chose the other options. Did you have similar problem and do you know how to return to the previos possibility? Thanks :)

i went to my group, click "create post"... the only options I see now after clicking "add to post" are... photo/video, check in, write column, tag people, feeling/activity

It's there, you just have to 'add' it as an option in posts now
