    I have a partial crawl space the rest is a basement. The crawl space is completely underground about 12x30. I was thinking about running a fan to a flexible duct through the floor in the kitchen then outside and probably hide it by running through a kitchen cabinet.

    Hi Michel! I'm here in Smyrna GA and I need help with the same issue, where should I put the dehumidifier and vent fan. I'm DIYer and trying to reduce the humidity in my crawlspace. In the last 3 weeks I've added XPS rim joist insulation, air sealed the rim joist, sill plate ducts, holes and vents. I added one vent fan and an Aprilaire 1850 Dehumidifier to my crawl space (1500 sq ft). My home has an addition, so it's actually 2 crawl spaces with 3 - 13" h X 27" w wall openings between between the 2 crawl spaces and one wall vent. The 3 openings have A/C supply and return lines running through them so only about a 1/3 of the opening is not blocked. Original crawl space is about 950 sq ft with 7' ceiling and addition is about 550 sq ft with 24-36" clearance. Both the vent fan and the dehumidifier are in the larger area. The dehumidifier closer to the smaller crawlspace, centered between the 3 openings and is set up to pull humid air from the smaller space to larger space but that doesn't seem to be working. The vent fan is diagonally opposite if the dehumidifier and pulling air to the outside. The smaller crawl space's humidity is getting higher around 75%+/- and the larger space is great staying at 50%. My questions is instead of trying to draw humid air out of the smaller crawl space would it be better to try to blow the dry air into the smaller space? Meaning should I turnaround the dehumidifier? Or leave the current set up as is in the larger space and instead add another fan to the smaller space to move the humid air toward the opening? Sorry for the long post and thank you in advance for your help!

      You can do that or you can try using ducting to push the dry air into the two areas. We talk about it more in this video: ua-cam.com/video/l028j1qX2gY/v-deo.html

    If you have the option to close off or turn off the ventilation fan, (yes, there is a Aprilaire under the house) it is optimal to do so? I have the rest of the vents closed and sealed.

    What about installing fan under mobile home. It’s very damp here in Florida and every 10 years replacing sub flooring.

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  Рік тому

      Definitely. For most crawl spaces, outside air is the best and most efficient method of drying. Additionally, it will improve air quality.

    II just had an encapsulation done and all my vents were sealed off. There’s no air moving through at all. I do have a humidifier underneath. Will this be an issue because I do not have air moving through? Thank you.

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja

      It could become an issue if odors or soil gases begin to build up. We always install one just to be safe.

    My crawlspace is 2000 sqft. Should I be looking for a fan with a lower CFM than the PCV1 which is good for 5000 sqft.? Installing a Aprilaire E080 also.

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  Рік тому

      The PCV1 should work fine in your scenario. We in stall them in almost all of our crawl space encapsulations and most are that size or smaller.

    Does the Exhaust fan have to run constantly? And I have 660 sq/ft...I don't need a very high cfm fan..
    What do you recommend?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  2 роки тому

      I recommend the Lomanco and it depends on the humidity levels in their area, in the South, we have very high humidity, so we recommend it run all the time, if not in a high humid area, then set to 40% so that it is still running a little longer than the dehu, because the dehu and the fan work hand and hand to control the humidity and prevent mold.

    This fan will remove air from an encapsulated crawl space. Where does new air come from in an encapsulated/sealed crawl space? Could this fan cause a negative pressure and draw air from the home or even from a ventilated attic?

    If you vent the exhaust of an aprilaire with ducting to an outside vent, is there any point in using an exhaust fan as well? Thank you!

      I think that will be sufficient if it is venting enough air based on EPA guidelines. 1cfm/50sq'

    will a fan help the crawlspace air alot, I iincapsuled the crawlspace and and a dehumidifier, but the air quality is still bad and I need solutions or I m going to have to sell the house. I have allergies s oand my house is making me sick. the air quality seems fine the the spring, and summer, but as soon as the tempeature drops in the fall and winter the air gets bad. I lve in the northeast. Anybody please help. .

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  Рік тому

      The fan mentioned in this video can help prevent soil gas build up, but if you have radon problems you would need a full radon mitigation system. You may want to look into having an air sample test done to see what is causing the air quality to be so bad in the winter months.

    Would a fan like this sufficiently remove VOCs, such as those emitted from a 3D Resin printer?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  11 місяців тому

      Possibly, I did a tour of a facility with high VOCs and they use a radon fan, which is only about 40cfm higher than the PCV1.

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  9 місяців тому

      Great question, we have seen homeowners add vents in the rim joists...I am not saying you should do that but if they can be added there, then other wood wall areas should be fine to add ventilation if you want. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.

    I just bought (2) 220 CFM exhaust fans and installed them on opposite walls. These fans don't provide the airstream it takes to blow out a birthday candle. I may send them back if I can find something stronger.

      Hi Tim, I'm not sure you purchased those fans from us as we do not carry any 220 CFM fans on our online store. I would check with the company you purchased from to see what their return policy is.
