GIMP 2.10.20 has a drop shadow alternative to that first 'gimp #2' layer treatment, although it's outside letter outline rather than inside. Thanks for the tip on 'crop to selection', I've been right clicking the layer and stuffing about with the Layer Boundary Size option, much slower.

I have been using GIMP for years and have a design that I am working on but I want it to look 3D. I thought this might do it. The image I have is a heart and I was thinking that it would be nice to give it a bit of a rounded form maybe even with a bit of a shine up at the top. Do you have a tutorial for that. I thought this might work but it didn't help.
