    Cleaning carburetors on an old Honda is easy but time consuming. Watch as I clean the carburetors and show how and what I do.

    Thanks for a very well filmed and shown procedure. Now I have to do this to my 81’ 900F and 83’ 1100F.

    The carbs on these bikes (1979 to 1982) can be cleaned with them ON the bike. There is really no need to remove them. The float bowls can be removed to access all the jets from the bottom. Remove the starter motor cover and there is more room for your hands. I have done it and had great success. Cleanliness is the key. These bikes do not run well with dirty fuel. Those old Honda’s and Kawasaki’s were the original crotch rockets. That’s why I bought it, I love ripping around on it. It’s a fast little bike.
      I have had a several people look at it but they are afraid of it.

      It’s a beautiful bike, I put a lot of work into it over the past 3 years. It’s just time for someone else to enjoy it. Plus the money will go towards the new radio for the RG

    At 26.36 consider propping the tank first before disconnecting/connecting the fuel hose - - Place a small block of wood before hand where the 13 mm bolt goes to attach the tank to the fame, and instead allow the tank to pivot a few degress on ite rubber mounts - this will allow you to get access to the fuel hose to reconnect it to the tank. Once done, simply remove the block of wood and bolt the tank down as usual -

    Hey Mark: I tried to clean the carbs without taking them off! But when I took it for a ride it started flooding over again! So, after watching your video I will clean them out the right way! Thanks for the step- by- step instructions! So, I'm guessing I won't need a rebuild kit if I am careful taking them apart! Thanks again Brother!😎👍

      The reason it floods is because you reassembled the carbs with the bike on the side stand. Obviously the float bowls were empty. When you refill the bowls with the bike on the side stand the float on the carb gets stuck in the down position, resulting in flooding. Once again I will say that the carbs can be cleaned out "the right way" without removing the from the bike. Put the bike on the main stand before you refill the carbs. You can also put a block of wood under the left side of the main stand to tilt the bike over towards the right. This should prevent the flooding. Same thing happened to me. I took the carbs off two times and had no success. The third time I left them on the bike and it ran the best after the third time. I have owned a 1980 Honda CB 750F and I currently own a 1979 Honda CB750 K and 1970 Norton Commando 750 Roadster and have driven bikes for 54 years and owned 7 Hondas over that period.

      @@stancoleshill8925 Just got your response. It took me 3 times also, but the last time I had the cards sitting on top of a bucket they were level. I put gas to them and let them sit overnight, and no more leaks. But that was last year, I have driven a lot this year and she runs great! I got the cards adjusted pretty close not using the vacuum gauges. she idles fine. But she is a little hard starting, but once she is running when I shut the bike down go into a store for an hour the bike starts right up. Everything is original, wires, coil. I do have new spark plugs, air filter, cleaned out the gas tank. She runs as good as when I first bought it in 1980. Thanks for the reply back Brother. Take care, God Bless

    why are you adjusting the cables as the unlatch once you move te carbs ? - btw: Thanks for the vidoe - I went thru this in spring 2021. It was non trivial getting fresh boots, etc -

    Great video! Quick question, how do you separate the carbs ?

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  2 роки тому

      They are bolted to a fuel rail that the carbs and the lines are connected to.

      If the boots are stiff you will have a lot of troubles putting them on. Start with the center boots first.

    Good work! Is there any difference in operation compared to a 1993 CB750F2 Seven Fifty? My problem is the bike just idles with choke and dies if I try to rev it. I see you don't separate all the carburetors from the rail. Do you think doing what you did and not cleaning every part of the carburetors is enough? My problem is probably related to the pilot jet and main jet. Do you think just cleaning these two is enough?

      If thats the only issue you are experiencing, then that will probably fix it. When I forget to run my carbs dry for storage, when I try to start the motorcycle back up after months, it normally has your same symptoms. I open the float bowls up and clean the primary main jets and tubes. And if I don't do a good job, it bites me because I have to take things apart again and clean them better.

    Hi! Can you please help me, workin' on a 1981 cb750f, stuttering problems on wide open throttle, carbs have been cleaned, which size are the jets on the main jet? I don't know if the bike still has the OEM ones or if they are changed in between. Thanks!
