Someone stumbles on this tree and causes a chain of effects. Maybe dinosaurs or old plagues returning.
That's what I'm saying. Like this is one of the few things that when thought about deeply, genuinely make me uncomfortable. An analog horror or a furthered creepypasta about this would be pretty cool.

Yup. This tree existed during the Carboniferous period. Gigantic insects and who knows what else (we know less than 1% of past life). I would blow my brains out over being trapped in that time period.

@@EndlessElixith nahhh, the fungus trees were like, really tall(8 meters) gray/brown dildo looking things. No branches or anything. Also, those were around 360 million years ago. The first "tree" is hard to pinpoint, because they were like a weird mishmash. They also used spores instead of seeds. Hard to say when trees became actual trees

Lepidodendrales used to be the most common type of tree. Now we have Gymnosperm 🌲 and Angiosperm 🌳 trees, but before the greatest mass extinction in history, it was the dominant one. The Gymnosperms were already taking over at that point, so it was the final droplet to overflow the bucket. The Angiosperms came later, around the end of the dinosaurs.
