What a beautiful car. They should have continued it in India with that nice strong 1.4 litre petrol engine. And of course we all love Italians. They really know how to enjoy life...
Dalibor Truhlar sadly cars like the Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper etc are luxury vehicles here in India. So the takers for these are always relatively fewer in number. It was discontinued around 3 years back just about when they launched the Jeep Compass. Today Fiat has only the Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep Compass in India. And all the Fiat cars like the Punto, Punto Avventura, 500, Abarth 500 and Linda are all gone away.

Dalibor Truhlar Peugeot indeed was available in the 1990’s until the early 2000’s in India. The best car they ever had was the 309 GLD. Strong engine. Wonderful suspension. Tough as nails and could take it anywhere. Did very well in Africa hence it ought to have done well in India. Sadly they were badly let down by their local partner Premier. Peugeot also sold lots and lots of engines here. In fact in the late 1970.s and early 1980’s, we had Mahindra Jeeps, derivatives of the Willys Jeep CJ and in India which came with the Peugeot 500 Diesel engine. As in the case of Peugeot, the Same problem with Premier happened for Fiat at first. Now sadly even though they come as FCA they still haven’t got this market right. This market is all about maximum features and gizmos and electronics and very low pricing. And the irony is that all through the 1950’s up until the early 1990’s the Fiat 1100 was being made and sold here as e Premier Padmini. And those were lovely driver’s cars. Lots of them still exist here and there are collectors who love them. So far the only people who seem to have got the India market right are the Japanese and the Koreans. Yet there are a lot of enthusiasts around who would love to buy something better and different and more a drivers car, but such people are still in the minority. Incidentally I do own an used 2012 Cooper S which has the Prince Engine 1.6 Turbo Petrol which was sourced by BMW from Peugeot.

Worst car ever in cold weather. Everything breaks and multiple times. Shocks, water pump, paint peels (3 dealers tried to fix it), hoses leaks, door handles fall, arm rest break , ball bearings. At auto shows, they are now displayed behind the rest of the Dodge/Chrysler vehicules. Feels like an over priced Lada.

@Emillie Rolland Thank you for asking! It is an old Czech name. In the 15 century there was a famous knight of this name, today there is also an opera dedicated to his story. The name has no real meaning but the root are the words "dal" which means to prolong or distance oneself/something and "bor" which means fight or war. So I'm either a warrior who makes the war/fight last longer, or a coward who is fleeing from the fight/war, or a man of peace who is trying to end the war/fight (distancing it, so to say).
