- I put together ten funny commercials for Fiat 500 USA they used to re-introduce the brand to America, most of them after the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). I hope you enjoy them. As an Italian I don't feel the slightest offense by watching these ads... at the heart of all there are irony and fun typical of us Italians. We 🇮🇹 are witty, sociable, noisy and with a linguistic-gesticulating uniqueness that you cannot find elsewhere. So people, enjoy this video!

Nella maggior parte di questi spot c'è una strategia commerciale sbagliata, quella di vendere uno "stereotipo", non un prodotto. A volte sfiorando il ridicolo... Simpatico, ma fino ad un certo punto. Da italiano, onestamente mi da un po' fastidio...
It shouldn't bother you but entertain you. The stereotypes in these commercials are funny and everybody knows they are just stereotypes. Just look at the second commercial that is playing with the stereotype FIAT = Fix it again, Tony, and actually destroying it - the car gets fixed indeed Tony’s We fixed it shop and turns into a better one.

@@turbodragon66 non voglio passare per polemico, ma io in Italia non ho mai visto pubblicità di auto tedesche con uomini coi baffi che bevono birra e mangiano crauti, non ho mai visto pubblicità di auto francesi con gente con le baguette sotto l'ascella, il basco in testa e gli immancabili baffetti ecc. ecc. Ma noi invece ci facciamo dipingere come quelli con la moka in mano e che usciamo di casa con la tazzina, che gesticoliamo sempre quando parliamo, che diamo l'impressione di essere mediocri e superficiali. E che l'Italia è fatta solo di paesaggi da cartolina di paesetti arroccati sulle scogliere in riva al mare o di strade di campagna in mezzo alle vigne. Simpatico, ma fino a un certo punto, poi basta.
L'auto deve essere pubblicizzata per la sua qualità, il design, i bassi consumi... non solo da dove arriva...

It is odd, but owning an Italian car does seem to have that effect, or maybe I just imagine I am a little more stylish, that the sun is a little warmer and life is just more fun (if it is my imagination, please don't say so; I love my little bit of Italian life 🙂)

@@passerico si, però ho fatto caso a questo fattore... soprattutto su la citroen, Fiat ed Renault, per esempio le clio prodotte per la Francia sono fatte differenti rispetto a quelle commercializzate in Europa (piccoli dettagli di stile ed assemblaggio che fanno la differenza), le fiat 500 commercializzate in America hanno linee secondo me più curate che in Italia, per me sono strategie di marketing.

@@miguelantoine5954 negli USA hanno diversi standard di omologazione, che comprendono anche la parte estetica, come i paraurti. Poi ad esempio hanno le luci di "marker", che noi non abbiamo: sono piccole luci di color ambra che sono messe davanti e intorno al veicolo. Nella 500 USA si nota nella zona paraurti vicino alla ruote anteriori.

They’re not reliable
Worst car ever in cold weather. Everything breaks and multiple times. Shocks, water pump, paint peels (3 dealers tried to fix it), hoses leaks, door handles fall, arm rest break , ball bearings. At auto shows, they are now displayed behind the rest of the Dodge/Chrysler vehicules. Feels like an over priced Lada.

Dalibor Truhlar sadly cars like the Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper etc are luxury vehicles here in India. So the takers for these are always relatively fewer in number. It was discontinued around 3 years back just about when they launched the Jeep Compass. Today Fiat has only the Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep Compass in India. And all the Fiat cars like the Punto, Punto Avventura, 500, Abarth 500 and Linda are all gone away.
@@shankarbalan3813 Thank you for the first hand information, I didn't know that! It is interesting how brand perceptions differ from country to country, also who drives these which cars. There is a differnce to Europe, in my case Austria. I was a little bit informed about Peugeot in India - I have the famous "Sculptor" commercial in another video ua-cam.com/video/8ccSydFsbfg/v-deo.html - and somebody told me that Peugeot wasn't doing very well.
Dalibor Truhlar Peugeot indeed was available in the 1990’s until the early 2000’s in India. The best car they ever had was the 309 GLD. Strong engine. Wonderful suspension. Tough as nails and could take it anywhere. Did very well in Africa hence it ought to have done well in India. Sadly they were badly let down by their local partner Premier. Peugeot also sold lots and lots of engines here. In fact in the late 1970.s and early 1980’s, we had Mahindra Jeeps, derivatives of the Willys Jeep CJ and in India which came with the Peugeot 500 Diesel engine.
As in the case of Peugeot, the Same problem with Premier happened for Fiat at first. Now sadly even though they come as FCA they still haven’t got this market right. This market is all about maximum features and gizmos and electronics and very low pricing. And the irony is that all through the 1950’s up until the early 1990’s the Fiat 1100 was being made and sold here as e Premier Padmini. And those were lovely driver’s cars. Lots of them still exist here and there are collectors who love them. So far the only people who seem to have got the India market right are the Japanese and the Koreans. Yet there are a lot of enthusiasts around who would love to buy something better and different and more a drivers car, but such people are still in the minority.
Incidentally I do own an used 2012 Cooper S which has the Prince Engine 1.6 Turbo Petrol which was sourced by BMW from Peugeot.

I think it was the car I was driving when I was a little boy in Prague in the 70s. Every year there was a fair with attractions and they had cars for children to drive. One of them - I liked it the most because of it looks - looked exactly like the Pad! And I always thought it was just some fantasy car. forgot about the Zoolander one. Sadly, sales are down, only 3 models are available in the showroom (ones even a Mazda), and prices/features aren't competitive. Our friends have a 500 Lounge and 500L Trekking, but too bad Fiat had no vision or foresight to propel the brand in the US to something special. As nice as a 500 Abarth would be to have in the garage, the nearest dealer is 60 miles away and for the same price, I got a WRX. When was the last Fiat commercial made? It must have been a while....

@Emillie Rolland Thank you for asking! It is an old Czech name. In the 15 century there was a famous knight of this name, today there is also an opera dedicated to his story. The name has no real meaning but the root are the words "dal" which means to prolong or distance oneself/something and "bor" which means fight or war. So I'm either a warrior who makes the war/fight last longer, or a coward who is fleeing from the fight/war, or a man of peace who is trying to end the war/fight (distancing it, so to say).
