This isn’t from BSBs first album. They had the same management. Lance Bass from *NSYNC did a great documentary about the boy band con Lou Pearlman. I am forever a Backstreet girl. These songs aren’t the best representation of either group, to be honest. And “Everybody” is just a fun/party/dance song with a wild video concept. I always thought *NSYNC was more pop and BSB, while pop, had a bit more of a soulful feel. My BSB suggestions are I'll Never Break Your Heart; Incomplete; More than That; Yes I Will; How Did I Fall in Love with You?; Safest Place to Hide; Never Gone; Quit Playing Games (with My Heart)
This is because BSB who was created first was created as an RnB group. Nsync was created as a pop group. Most casual fans don't really even know this stuff. Many hardcore fans don't even know this. That is why BSB had many more "slow songs" than Nsync.

I don’t know man. NSYNC song “God must’ve spent…” is one of the BEST weddings song ever. It’s up there with “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. That song no bounce competes with a Backstreet song..
My almost 40 y/o daughter still knows all the words and dances to NSYNC, BSB, and NKOTB songs. Lordy, I can still remember her in her room listening to all of these boy bands while doing her homework. My favorite of all of the boy bands is BSB. I used to know all of the lyrics, too, since she played their songs EVERY . SINGLE . DAY! Now, my granddaughters (her daughters) know all the lyrics AND all of the dances! Too bad their manager was a slime ball an ripped them off of millions of dollars that they were entitled. There's a movie (believe it's entitled Boy Bands) which tells the story of how much these boy bands were used and ripped off. I would rate BSB over NSYNC.
BSB released their first album outside the US. When they were getting their second album together, the American release was a mix of the singles from both the 1st and 2nd albums. Everybody is technically from their first album in the US. I'll Never Break Your Heart has 2 completely different music videos because they re-released it as a single, and they gave Nick a bigger role in the song when he became the most popular with fans in the US.
@@kim_eliseEverybody and I want you back on here are for US. Here in Europe we have the official video's. Bsb begin here in Holland and Germany. I like Bsb(Nick) and 5ive(Abz) from begin. 😊
The first album of Backstreet Boys came out in Europe and was called Backstreet Boys, We’ve Got it Goin’ On was their first single and music video, it is the first song on that album. 🙂
Both N'Sync and Backstreet boys are made by the same 2 people Max Martin and Denniz Pop. Thats why they sound a like. And Max Martin is one of the biggest songwriter/producer in history
On principle as a rocker chick back in the 90s I never bought or willingly tuned into an NSYnC or BSB song. But I do remember respecting BSB for their musicality and talent. I still do.
I seen NSYNC at War Memorial, open top stadium and BSB in Las Vegas. I love both, always have. I was a JC fan over Justin. And Brian was my BSB crush, now its Kevin. They are both awesome. Backstreets Back is my favorite video, I knew the dance and I love Halloween! They had the same manager that pitted them against each other and took most of their money. Lance Bass made a documentary(?) about it.
It's funny how "the JT voice" is the selling point when JC was the one with the best voice. But as "the JC voice" was what made me team N'Sync (still like BSB), I also get it.
The husband in this video probably has no clue who JC is, so he defaulted to someone he recognized, by talking about JT. Everyone pretty much respects JC's voice, even if they personally like Justin. (P.S. JT wasn't even called "JT" until after ☆NSYNC, while JC was "JC" even before ☆NSYNC via MMC show.)
Im probably the only person who LOVES AND ADORES BOTH NSYNC AND BSB!!!!!! Im not ashamed at all!! Both boy bands arrived at times i was SOOOO down, and thanks to BOTH boy bands, im a better person!!!!! #boybandaddict
BSB was supposed to be classic Monsters… Howie was The Phantom of the Opera, Nick was the Mummy, Brian was Wolf-man, Kevin was Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, AJ was a Vampire. Both bands were created by the infamous Lou Pearlman. *NSYNC was a result of BSB’s success. There is a documentary on the horrors of working for Pearlman called The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story where some of his acts talk about it and Lance was a huge part of the Documentary being made.
I was team N'sync for a long time, but once I became an adult I started liking BSB more and still do today lol. Though now there's talk of the bands (or at least a few members from each) combining to make a new band, so we'll see :D
I like N'Sync but I'm a diehard Backstreet Boys fan all the way!! Even went to their latest concert on the DNA Tour!! You mentioned N'Sync got their start in Europe. Well so did The Backstreet Boys. They were popular in Europe before they were popular in the the US. And N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys were signed by Orlando record producer Lou Pearlman in the beginning of their careers.
Lou Pearlman founded Backstreet Boys in 1993 then started Nsync 3 years later (behind BSB back) to make sure he had "both Coca Cola and Pepsi" money. Long story short, most NSYNC first songs were actually songs rejected by BSB , including "I want you back" which was Nsync very first single. I expected you to pick "Everybody Backstreet Back" because the song came out during BSB prime and is the second most popular BSB song till this day. The video is their version of "Thriller" and the whole concept was their idea. So yeah BSB wins but timing wise " I want you back" is no competition to "Everybody" to begin with. PS I can't believe you said AJ was trash. Try to listen to "All i have to give", "Never break your heart" or "Incomplete". Then we can talk.
@@jamj1855 As all humans do at some point. BSB & Nsync both fired him in 1999, he died in 2016. There's no correlation here. If you didn't live through that era, there are enough interviews and documentaries about this to help you get your facts right.
There was another reason why backstreet boys went that kind of theme cuz the fact back then alot of teens and adults were into scifi movies like The Mummy, others I cant remember and monster series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed and others etc. lol I remember when those songs were always broadcasted. I loved both NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. And yes that was the style of clothes back then.... guys would wear baggie shirts, baggie pants and tennies, hat was backwards or off to the side and girls wore sweatshirts or a buttoned up top with a high waisted jeans and tennies lol it was a fun and funny era. :)
I hadn't heard the Nsync one before but already knew the BSB song. THe BSB song is easily the preference, although I'm not huge on the song. Going in, I recognized the BSB title and had a feeling I had heard it before. It's definitely more memorable. When you went back through the chorus of the Nsync one, I felt like I was hearing again for maybe the first time.
Love this.. I was a child of the 80s.. We had our share of boy bands (New Kids On The Block, Menudo, New Edition etc). Reason I bring this up - NKOTB and BSB teamed up and did both a mashup of their hits, and a tour. You & Ali should check out the mashup.
Well... members of both N'SYNC and Backstreet Boys have said there was NEVER a rivalry between them all 10 members are 100% friends The rivalry only existed in the fandom
If I remember correctly I Want You Back was a BSB reject. All of the songs on NSYNC's first album were. And Backstreet's Back is off there 2nd album. Watching We've Got It Goin' On would be a true comparison, from their first album but released, like 3 years earlier.
*NSYNC album lyrics were hella embarrassing. I just Got Paid, Digital Get Down, that Yippee song. Their songs were mostly BSB rejects, that is actually true n
KTBSPA (Keep the Backstreet Pride Alive) - BSB all the way, every day. All five are super talented singers, their dance routines are fun and energetic, they are great at harmonies and singing acapella together, and they have molded their sound through the years to stay relevant, but never changed so much about themselves or their music that they lost the original magic. They are still as magical as ever. I have been a fan since I first saw them on MuchMusic in 1996 or 1997. My favorites were always Brian and Kevin (who are cousins, btw) but AJ's voice is super cool. Nick is great too, and Howie is actually severely underrated, and has grown so much over the years. I've been to many of their concerts and their Vegas Residency show as well (though never on their cruise) and they are one of my favorite acts to see live. The dancing, the harmonies, the FEELS. haha I just love them so much. And I like *NSync alright; all the dudes besides JT seem like nice, chill humans. (Justin has an arrogance and toolbaggishness to him that rubs me the wrong way. Love him on SNL though. haha) But to me, JT was never THE voice from *NSync... JC was! JC got robbed of a successful solo career by the labels, management, etc. He BY FAR had the best voice in that group, and with the right support, he could have had as successful of a solo run as Justin Timberlake has had. But, alas... our beloved JC Chasez never got that chance, and we all missed out. But Backstreet Boys are still IT and will always be IT. Just as they said, as long as there'll be music, they'll be coming back again. (Listen to the non-extended, original version of Everybody (Backstreet's Back) and you'll hear it for yourself.) Love this video and the series idea and I look forward to more. And remember... Everybody Rock your body Everybody Rock your body right It truly is timeless. Peace and Love to you. Thanks for a fun watch.
Also diehard boy bands fan at the time lol. They were discovered by the same guy, and managed pretty much the same. They also had no creative control at the time, so they feel pretty cringe about it too lol Love that you did this!! This was fun!
Boy bands weren't really something I actively listened to on my own, but if I was hanging out with friends that listened to it, or it just came on the radio, I would jam the shit out of it! 😆 Ive also always wondered if this music video was filmed in the same room as the movie Casper where Devon sawa comes down the stairs and dances with Cristina Ricci!
Both bands started big in Europe before getting big in Canada then the US. They were both managed by Lou Pearlman. That's where the similarities come in.
They had the same manager who, years later, it was found out was causing a rift/war between the two groups to cause competition/ratings etc. he totally screwed both groups. There’s a tv report/story on the whole situation.
I remember the countdown on MTV, I had a teenage daughter and I took her to a *NSYNC concert and all I heard were young girls screaming the entire concert, however since I know both bands well, I would say BSB but I have to give NSYNC this song comparison, you can dance to their song, lol
BSB all the way! I’m 47 and saw the BSB 2022 in concert and they were awesome ❤ I also were listening to NSYNC but there songs were not that good as the BSB songs
It's like thriller cause they were inspired by Michael Jackson in Everybody (Backstreet's back). Look up the songfacts and it will tell you it was a inspired by thriller.
I was a massive Backstreet Boys fan. I got my yearbooks engraved with "Terry Carter", my pin number and password for AGES was Nick Carter's birthday and mine mashed together. LMAO I really liked NSYNC's "No Strings Attached" Album. But yeah, looking back I was really really delusional and cringe about Backstreet Boys. Also, my main exercise in that time was dancing along to their concerts on VHS. So I knew them all! Haha
When you get to the 2nd albums of the two groups you are going to want to do "I want It That Way" and "Bye Bye Bye" from both the Millenium and No Strings Attached albums. Both songs were hits and one song shut down Time Squared for the day.
Oh for sure!! My fave of the 2 songs is "I want It That way.". One time when my 5 kids were pre teen and teens I was taking them and about a dozen other kids to the swimming hole at the fairgrounds and on the way...that song came on...( keep in mind they were never going to admit they liked either band)...suddenly all of these kids started singing along!!! It was epic! I WISH ID HAD A SMART PHONE at that time to record it...OMG!!!😊😌
I was 20 when these album came out so I didn’t really care about the rivalry thing. I’d give this match up to BSB no question. My 12 year old knows Everybody because it has stood the test of time. It’s a bop, c’mon! And PLEASE pick a song that showcases AJ’s voice better. He CAN sing and his voice is so unique. I’ll Never Break Your Heart?! That “he sucks” comment was soul crushing!
Sebs not wrong. They wanted that generation's Thriller. And in many ways got it. Huge hit, people doing the dance, making of video - watch parties on MTV. Instant Halloween classic. Not exactly the same but close enough for a marketing department win. My son didnt believe me when I made him learn some of these dances from the videos. Oh Mom 🙄 Fast forward to Tik Tok challenges and him coming home from a school dance saying - Wow, girls loved that I danced. You're welcome, son.
The reason why a lot of the music from nsync an bsb sound alike is because they had the same writing team, which was also used by britney spears. Max Martin and Denniz pop (rip) were a genius team together. The reason why there was a rivalry is because they also had the same management team and Lou Pearlman founded both bands. Dont get me wrong i LOVE everybody backstreets back but it doesnt really showcase their singing voices nor is this the best song lyrically.
If you want to go old school Boy Bands you have to start with the Jackson 5, then New Edition with Bobby Brown before he went on a solo career, and of course my favorite the New Kids On The Block. All three were around long before N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys, which are great in their own right
Exactly, NKOTB were the best and as for a white guys because I know there were so many amazing black boy bands so to speak NKOTB came first out of the franchise of bands. I was definitely a blockhead! ❤️
Took guitar lessons with a childhood friend Lou Pearlman MANY years ago. His parents invite me over for dinner, tell me to bring my guitar. When I arrived, Lou introduced me to his cousin Art (of Simon and Garfunkel). I had no idea who he was (think they had just released their first album). Lou went on to form The Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, plus the less sucessful OTOWN.

“God must’ve spent…” is one of the BEST weddings song ever.
I can tell you aren't a Backstreet boys fan Everybody (Backstreet's back) was off their second studio album.
Its indeed on second album
She just doesn't know the history worldwide. Like I didn't at first 😂
Team N Sync! Still love me some backstreet boys. I grew up during the boy band craze and what a time to be alive lol.
The first album of Backstreet Boys came out in Europe and was called Backstreet Boys, We’ve Got it Goin’ On was their first single and music video, it is the first song on that album. 🙂
Team Backstreet Boys !!
Both N'Sync and Backstreet boys are made by the same 2 people Max Martin and Denniz Pop. Thats why they sound a like. And Max Martin is one of the biggest songwriter/producer in history
This 💯🔥
On principle as a rocker chick back in the 90s I never bought or willingly tuned into an NSYnC or BSB song.
I am right there with you on JC and Brian.
Team Back Street Boys always
Liked NSYNC, but LOVE BACKSTREET BOYS . Love them as much of not more then I did before lol.
Backstreet Boys for sure
It's funny how "the JT voice" is the selling point when JC was the one with the best voice. But as "the JC voice" was what made me team N'Sync (still like BSB), I also get it.
The husband in this video probably has no clue who JC is, so he defaulted to someone he recognized, by talking about JT. Everyone pretty much respects JC's voice, even if they personally like Justin. (P.S. JT wasn't even called "JT" until after ☆NSYNC, while JC was "JC" even before ☆NSYNC via MMC show.)
Let’s kick it old school with some NKOTB and Boyz ii men
My son's initials make A.J because of the backstreet boys. His first name is after Tupac, his initials make AJ and i sang him Elvis for lullabies.
Im probably the only person who LOVES AND ADORES BOTH NSYNC AND BSB!!!!!! Im not ashamed at all!! Both boy bands arrived at times i was SOOOO down, and thanks to BOTH boy bands, im a better person!!!!! #boybandaddict
Don't make me choose!!!
Aaww. Nice. 😊 I have that with Bsb and 5ive. Favo Nick and Abz. 🙂
I will always be team *NSYNC, but I will say they are both talented.
the level of happiness in my chest right now just from hearing the music is insane..... thanks for this video!
Nsync is my favorite. Jc's voice was absolutely amazing!!!
I was team N'sync for a long time, but once I became an adult I started liking BSB more and still do today lol. Though now there's talk of the bands (or at least a few members from each) combining to make a new band, so we'll see :D
I love both these bands. NSYNC is my fave!
@@jamj1855 As producers usually do.
@@jamj1855 As all humans do at some point. BSB & Nsync both fired him in 1999, he died in 2016. There's no correlation here.
If you didn't live through that era, there are enough interviews and documentaries about this to help you get your facts right.
@@jamj1855 The fact that you truly believe he was the only one who did this sort of thing explains this whole thread. Have a nice day.
@@jamj1855 Yes this is my commentary you hopped on.
Yepp. And Bsb started here by us in Europe first: Germany and The Netherlands. My favo is Nick. I also like 5ive from UK and my favo Abz. ❤
BSB is still together 30 yrs later
Phantom of the Opera
Vampire
Werewolf
Mummy
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
I love them both and I love you are doing this. I think the next BB song should be "Drowning" and NSYNC should be "This I Promise You".
Drowning is my all time favorite BSB song
Ohhh two great songs.
Drowning!!
Both bands were killer but you'd never catch me admitting that when I was a kid and this stuff came out, I was team BSB.
I love that you’re learning something so special about your sweetie while learning about music 💞
Love this.. I was a child of the 80s.. We had our share of boy bands (New Kids On The Block, Menudo, New Edition etc). Reason I bring this up - NKOTB and BSB teamed up and did both a mashup of their hits, and a tour. You & Ali should check out the mashup.
Well... members of both N'SYNC and Backstreet Boys have said there was NEVER a rivalry between them all 10 members are 100% friends
The rivalry only existed in the fandom
BSB won, the vid was more like "Time Warp' from Rocky Horror than "Thriller"
I love this just so she can make you listen to boy bands. ❤😂. I'm old so I was a NKOTB superfan.
**NSYNC got that Disney special because BSB turned it down due to exhaustion.
Oh the memories!!!! These guys.. all of them were great.
(Listen to the non-extended, original version of Everybody (Backstreet's Back) and you'll hear it for yourself.)
Love this video and the series idea and I look forward to more.
And remember...
Everybody
Rock your body
Everybody
Rock your body right
It truly is timeless.
Peace and Love to you. Thanks for a fun watch.
Also diehard boy bands fan at the time lol. They were discovered by the same guy, and managed pretty much the same. They also had no creative control at the time, so they feel pretty cringe about it too lol
Love that you did this!! This was fun!
Oh no, I was hoping for the 1st album from BSB but you went right in for the second one :( Would have loved to seen some of the very first ones.
Love them both but N’Sync’s are so catchy, Pop, Bye Bye, It’s Gonna Be Me are INSANE! ❤
I'm into it, and I say keep going! It's a fun throwback!
JT’s voice when JC is right there?! Justice for JC 😭😭😭😭
Right????
Definitely need some more battle videos. So many you can do with these bands!
Both Bands are fantastic but Nysnc dancing is in a league of their own!!!
Yes and they filmed the video in the same set the movie Casper was filmed in lol.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 Very true
You must do Drowning by the Back Street Boys. I am not sure what N'Sync you can put against it though.
BSB’s Everybody will be playing at my wedding to dance to, but will be singing This I Promise You by NSYNC to my husband.
lou pearlman was producer of both bands!
I am about half way through the intro and I already love this idea! Also 100% here for NSYNC
Oh Mom 🙄
Fast forward to Tik Tok challenges and him coming home from a school dance saying - Wow, girls loved that I danced.
You're welcome, son.
Backstreet Boys has 'aged better' because they're still together. N'SYNC hasn't been together in forever,
The reason why a lot of the music from nsync an bsb sound alike is because they had the same writing team, which was also used by britney spears.
@@julesb1970yeah but new kids aren't really a vocal harmony group. I mean they barely do acappelas. That's what separates BSB and NSYNC from NKOTB.
I mean otown did have some success. Their first album went platinum. Could've been more successful but by then the boy band craze was done.
I was *NSYNC obsessed! Saw them 8 times! Loved them so much! Not as crazy for BSB, but I still jam to some of their songs! *NSYNC 4 Life though!
They did have some of the same song writers. The lead singers on Everybody are Aj Mclean, Brian Litrell, and Nick Carter.
And that’s why Backstreet Boys are still around !! BSB ALL DAY !!
If you did all live versions then BSB wouldnt get a single vote.
