I vividly remember seeing this that night. Hated it. Was so bummed because I loved the Malcolm theme. I've since seen them a good 6 or so times over the years. Some of the best things take more than one try to grasp! Still not crazy about this particular performance but they're legends anyhow.
Stella Octangula why? It’s definitely their most popular song off No. Honestly I would’ve like to hear Sleepwalkers because that is one of the first songs I ever heard when I was a kid by these guys, but I think this is probably the best choice.

Their most popular album was released in 1990, and a lot of people associate them with the 90s, even if they were around before then. And yes, Inside just reply to a four year old comment.
hey i reply to four year old comments all the tiiiiiime anyway, to me they hit big pop radio with Flood when i was a senior in high school which seems like 1989 to me, even though half of the school year and the release of Flood was in 1990 :P
@@confuseatronica They're still going strong in 2019! Just finished up their Australian tour last night. I saw them 4x in 2018, including 12/30 at Daryl's House in Pawling, NY - ua-cam.com/play/PLh5kpzCf54Zbh0Dy_OxLYzLe-kuBo6UZQ.html

TMBG Live show rule: if Shoehorn with Teeth is involved, be reassured the show will be beyond _interesting_
God flansy looked genuinely unhinged at the beginning jfc
This was a seriously ballsy move on their part - even with the rapport they have with the show. So great!
John, I think we're losing the crowd...
the dead air is the best part
Wasn't a weather warning when I watched this, but it adds to the insanity of TMBG in my opinion.
WMAQ, Channel 5 in Chicago. Plenty of tornado warnings, but not many actual funnel clouds, fortunately.
It's fun trying to hear Flans's real voice through the effect.
I feel like the weather warning makes the video more authentic.
LIKE IT'S FAMILIAR!
The audience is like "..........."
I love everything about this.

holy shit i love these guys
i feel sorry for anyone in the audience who had no idea who tmbg were
directly from "so good it's bad" to "actually good"
So... good... it's bad...?
this was .. an interesting move to make.
but yknow what i don’t hate it
I lived in Chicago when that storm hit. 👀 stupid rain.
Best performance ever
I feel like Robot Parade was a strange choice
Stella Octangula why? It’s definitely their most popular song off No. Honestly I would’ve like to hear Sleepwalkers because that is one of the first songs I ever heard when I was a kid by these guys, but I think this is probably the best choice.
TMBG has a long history of playing unorthodox tracks on TV. I love them for it.
No more strange than Shoehorn with Teeth.
Damn..Conan just bum-rushed one John and then left the other one hangin. Not cool, bro.
This is amazing.
