  • In this video, I will be creating a Silicone mold of my own Whitetail Deer's antlers. This will enable me to have an extra set or two of my own bucks antler rack.
Why do this? These antlers are from the one and only Deer I ever killed. I originally wanted to create a full body, lifesize mount of him at the time ... but back in 1973, the spirit was willing, but the skills were not there ... so it's just as well it never happened.
Recently, a friend of mine asked why I wasn't mounting him as a lifesize, and I responded that there's no room for it, plus, I had ordered all the supplies to create a pedestal mount. This got me to thinking ... "Hey, I know how to create molds and make castings - so why not mold and cast my Deer's antlers?"
So, this video tutorial is the result.
The Silicone products used are Polytek PlatSil FS 20, with an overcoat of PlatSil 10.
