Those guys have been around for more than 40 years, most of their albums are legendary, the rest are still awesome, Bruce is recovering from cancer, they never sold out, they never EVER changed genres and yet they still are one of, if not THE greatest band in history.
They do have some kind of mainstream songs and the newer stuff is a lot more progressive than in the 80s, but that only makes them better that they could do all that and only have a few songs that aren’t amazing.
I love how it still has that classic sound. That and Bruce singing the way he does while suffering with throat cancer is just mind blowing. Great dedication from a great band.

I've liked Iron Maiden since the 1980s and I actually think this is easily one of their best albums. Huge accomplishment to throw something like this out there so late into their careers.
I've already listened to the whole 'Book of Souls' album. It's almost on par with most of their '80s work and just as good if not better than their post-2000 releases. What many people on here seem to forget is that Iron Maiden is ever-evolving their sound and never sticking exclusively to formula, which is what great bands usually aspire to do as they naturally grow older and more experienced in life. Those guys really have nothing left to prove to anybody at this point in their careers except only themselves and I must say after hearing their newest album as well as the one that preceded it ('The Final Frontier') they still aren't going to fade away without putting up one hell of a fight! In Bruce Dickinson's case, his recent battle with throat cancer is proof enough of that. Btw, this is NOT one of the very best songs on the album either! Check out the rest of this "book" to find out which ones clearly are if you still have ears to listen with. I am diggin' the video though. Eddie traveling through the ages in VG style much like the band has done musically up to now... :-)

thanks man, I don't like to compare albums because they're always trying to do something different sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't compare fear of the dark (heavier and darker) to powerslave (power metal I think it is) and then no prayer for the dying (which was hated and I'll agree wasn't my favouritealbum, but had a few gems :D

This song was the song my dad blared in his car when I went to his house. This was my first taste of Iron Maiden and this song is one of my favorites. This song has stuck with me because he died a few years ago and I listen to Iron Maiden to connect with him, especially this song.

Wow, I'm feeling so old realizing that it has been 6 years since The Book of Souls was released... I feel like it was yesterday, I was jumping and screaming of excitement when they released Speed of Light, been a Maiden fan since 2011 and it was the first new record I heard being a fan, on 2016 I was at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro at my first Maiden concert ever with my best friend and my dad, what an incredible day it was!! UP THE IRONS!!!!!
I had the opportunity to go when they were in my area, but being the fool I was (and also the fact that I didn’t listen to Maiden much at that point), I didn’t go. Glad you went when you got the chance, truly a blessed opportunity! Up the irons! 🤘

Do you know what I love the most? The haters. God, I love them so much! One said: "Amateur production; decent track; Bruce's age is coming and bla bla bla". Gooooooood! Thank You for their existence! I have to say that I had that stucked throat here at my work. I never felt that before. It's not cliché, but I was thrown back to the 80's with that track. Speed Of Light 😍😍😍😍😍 That video is gorgeous and fits great with the song. That psychedelic part of the song (music electric guitar in sequence, omnipresent in the song) seems just made to give a modern voice to the videogames than once. And it goes well with the final part of the same game transposed to our days's 3d! I must say that my initial feeling on the piece was absolutely out of the way and unripe. This piece is fantastic, the vocals are excellent and not by immediate sensations because it is very complex. It must be heard a little 'more, and you will realize what actually Bruce is in top form, indeed even better than the last 4 albums! I will tell you, this song, despite having ties with the last Maiden, it's bursting 80's Maiden from every pore! And if this is just the appetizer, guys, get ready to a megadinner with slaps for September 4th!
Even though the song is a bit underwhelming, we have to bear in mind that Maiden doesn't usually leak their strongest stuff first. Remember 5 years ago, the first song they leaked off The Final Frontier was "El Dorado," a similarly underwhelming song. The album didn't let anybody down at all though. So let's all just wait for Sept 4, before we start judging our guys too harshly.
Liam Caffety True. The same could be said for all of their lead off singles since the reformation. With the exception of The Wicker Man. I didn't initially think that much of the other ones. Wildest Dreams, Benjamin Breeg, Eldorado. But they did grow on me. You can rest assured the album will rock!

It's awesome how Maiden developed their trademark sound, music and keep the same energy as many years ago. I'm so happy they don't try to copy their old albums, but instead their creativity takes every new stuff to a whole different level while staying true to their distinctive sound. The whole album is fantastic, their talent for writing music is insane, and this song is an absolutely great tune in style of classic bangers but with modern approach. Up the Irons!

he can't hit the same pitches anymore even in the studio. His voice sounds lower now compared to 15 years ago. Still sounds better then 99% of vocalists though.
Bruce is actually the best live singer of all time. He's just been struggling this last tour because of his cancer recovery. That's perfectly natural. If you want a good example of how great he sounds live even in his older age check out The Talisman (en vivo version)

I've liked Iron Maiden since the 1980s and I actually think this is easily one of their best albums. Huge accomplishment to throw something like this out there so late into their careers.

Senjutsu is a top 3, book of souls as well but I like it a little lesser.
I've already listened to the whole 'Book of Souls' album. It's almost on par with most of their '80s work and just as good if not better than their post-2000 releases. What many people on here seem to forget is that Iron Maiden is ever-evolving their sound and never sticking exclusively to formula, which is what great bands usually aspire to do as they naturally grow older and more experienced in life. Those guys really have nothing left to prove to anybody at this point in their careers except only themselves and I must say after hearing their newest album as well as the one that preceded it ('The Final Frontier') they still aren't going to fade away without putting up one hell of a fight! In Bruce Dickinson's case, his recent battle with throat cancer is proof enough of that.
Btw, this is NOT one of the very best songs on the album either! Check out the rest of this "book" to find out which ones clearly are if you still have ears to listen with. I am diggin' the video though. Eddie traveling through the ages in VG style much like the band has done musically up to now...

thanks man, I don't like to compare albums because they're always trying to do something different sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't compare fear of the dark (heavier and darker) to powerslave (power metal I think it is) and then no prayer for the dying (which was hated and I'll agree wasn't my favouritealbum, but had a few gems :D

This song was the song my dad blared in his car when I went to his house. This was my first taste of Iron Maiden and this song is one of my favorites. This song has stuck with me because he died a few years ago and I listen to Iron Maiden to connect with him, especially this song.

***** Seeing as the album boasts some really long songs, following suite of what final frontier did,i think its safe to say that this album is gonna be a lot less straight forward and snappy like Iron maiden 80s era.
Its a good song to hold us over until the rest of the album comes out i think,though i think emotions are high considering the time of day and the lack of material for 5 years. So people should just let it sit before we come to any conclusions.

Every new Maiden album is quite different than the last, but every new maiden album is great. My favorite album is BRAVE NEW WORLD. I love that one as much I love the number of the beast.

Wow, I'm feeling so old realizing that it has been 6 years since The Book of Souls was released... I feel like it was yesterday, I was jumping and screaming of excitement when they released Speed of Light, been a Maiden fan since 2011 and it was the first new record I heard being a fan, on 2016 I was at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro at my first Maiden concert ever with my best friend and my dad, what an incredible day it was!! UP THE IRONS!!!!!
I had the opportunity to go when they were in my area, but being the fool I was (and also the fact that I didn’t listen to Maiden much at that point), I didn’t go. Glad you went when you got the chance, truly a blessed opportunity!

I have to say that I had that stucked throat here at my work. I never felt that before. It's not cliché, but I was thrown back to the 80's with that track. Agressive vocal, fast track and very melodic. Everything we've missed these years.

That video is gorgeous and fits great with the song. That psychedelic part of the song (music electric guitar in sequence, omnipresent in the song) seems just made to give a modern voice to the videogames than once. And it goes well with the final part of the same game transposed to our days's 3d! I must say that my initial feeling on the piece was absolutely out of the way and unripe. This piece is fantastic, the vocals are excellent and not by immediate sensations because it is very complex. It must be heard a little 'more, and you will realize what actually Bruce is in top form, indeed even better than the last 4 albums! I will tell you, this song, despite having ties with the last Maiden, it's bursting 80's Maiden from every pore! And if this is just the appetizer, guys, get ready to a megadinner with slaps for September 4th!

Even though the song is a bit underwhelming, we have to bear in mind that Maiden doesn't usually leak their strongest stuff first. Remember 5 years ago, the first song they leaked off The Final Frontier was "El Dorado," a similarly underwhelming song. The album didn't let anybody down at all though. So let's all just wait for Sept 4, before we start judging our guys too harshly.
Liam Caffety True. The same could be said for all of their lead off singles since the reformation. With the exception of The Wicker Man. I didn't initially think that much of the other ones. Wildest Dreams, Benjamin Breeg, Eldorado. But they did grow on me. You can rest assured the album will rock!

I love this music video so much. The multiple homages to different eras of video games corresponding with the different eras of Iron Maiden is absolutely genius
It's awesome how Maiden developed their trademark sound, music and keep the same energy as many years ago. I'm so happy they don't try to copy their old albums, but instead their creativity takes every new stuff to a whole different level while staying true to their distinctive sound. The whole album is fantastic, their talent for writing music is insane, and this song is an absolutely great tune in style of classic bangers but with modern approach. Up the Irons!

Erik Goeree live he's struggling now
he can't hit the same pitches anymore even in the studio. His voice sounds lower now compared to 15 years ago. Still sounds better then 99% of vocalists though.
Bruce is actually the best live singer of all time. He's just been struggling this last tour because of his cancer recovery. That's perfectly natural. If you want a good example of how great he sounds live even in his older age check out The Talisman (en vivo version)
