Your on the right path, keep sharing your trapping and experiences and the beauty of the surroundings that the Lord has blessed you with. I appreciate your humbleness and kindness very much. And even though there isn't much in your traps, I appreciate very much going along with you and enjoying the beauty of your area and the stories you have to tell.

To fix your 1986 Tundra, you need to cut 3/4" off of each side of an old 1974-1981 TNT Everest track. To do this, I use a reciprocal saw (Sawzall) and keep oil on the blade so it does not grab and shake so badly. MANY Ski Doo tracks made between 1974 and 1983 broke just like yours. The older tracks were 10 times stronger and NEVER wore out and NEVER broke, even if they looked bad. The track must have 63 holes and cut off 3/4" from each side, OK? OK! Here are some tips: Bolt or clamp your track between 2 short (3') 2'x4'' boards (bolt or clamp through the holes in the track) (one board on the top of the track and one board under the bottom of the track). This will help guide your cutting. You can cut the rubber with a sharp knife but the fiberglass rods will have to be cut with a hack saw blade if you don't have a Sawzall. Make sure to burn the edges of the cut track (with a propane torch or something). to get rid of the strings (watch out for fires when you burn the strings). This works good for me.
My wife and I enjoy your show very much, especially the stories of the old days and old ways. Your video of Awesome Lake at sunset was great, best ever. From John and Coleen of Fishhook, Alaska.

Hi Robert & other viewers. I will use a popular sentence coming from the 60's when Neil Amstrong walked on the surface of the moon: "... one small step for man, one giant leap for humanity ...``. Education is continuous. It`s a small movement, a little bit like those in the nature (ex: geology, universe expansion, ...). As a person who chooses to teach something, remember that education = change. You expect change for the trainee, but it has effects on the trainer too. You change, your methods change. You adapt to situations (ex: trapping, mechanics, ...). As a trainer, you have to be a good story teller. The "bad lucks" become what we call "`counter-examples" in education or simply call them examples to use in your stories. You are good at it. You told us you were comfortable on radio, as well as you are on your channel. Cheers to you, our favorite "teacher"! ☕

Hello Robert, thank you for your videos. I enjoy them. In this video I heard and saw that you have two things from that you wolf that was on your trail; I learned from my dad, who was an expert wolf man, even into his 80s. He would gather their yellow snow and poop find along his trails and use the gathering to dress up his sets. he even used what comes from a bitch that is in heat. Yes, he was a great trapper. I am near 77 and I fully enjoy trapping. You may not believe me but I have a whole lot of country to trap; me nearest neighbor is 52 mile away. I have trap lines that are near 50 years and through most of it there has not been another track made other than my own or my boys and grandsons. Robert I prayed for a great new year for you; for good health, happy family and successes in all your ventures.

I love watching your videos, Robert. These videos where you don't catch anything just show people the reality of trapping, and the reality of life really, nobody just goes out and gets what they want, it takes a lot of work and patients. If you want more ideas on more content, I always like your native crafts videos! You should try and make some snowshoes or medicine pouch or other traditional crafts. I don't know if you have any moose hide left, but maybe a pair of mitts with a nice fur trim? Its always good to just hear the sound of your voice though.

when i was out in the trap line years ago we would use peanuts butter with whiskey mixed that was the bait lol but it worked and we would make a fire with pine or spruce and make it smoke next to the traps we do that to all the traps down the line and we walk the line down to the last trap and back to the road and home and we go there one day a week and there was times we got nothing for weeks but we just kept going, things well get better just got to keep at it keep going and going my friend all the best to you on the line

Hi Robert. It's hard to tell another man what to do, when you have never walked in his shoes. I sense your frstration, and I sometimes feel it too when I am watching you trap. I have watched other trappers be very successful when they use Martin Boxes. If forces the martin to enter the trap. No getting around the trap. I think you should convert all your pole sets to box sets. Keep the far end of the box covered with hardware cloth. It allows air to move through the box and would help with spreading out the bait smell. Use stinkier bait, like rotten fish, if you cannot smell the bait from 6 feet away, its not strong enough. Anyway, just my ideas, hoping it might help you.

It'll get so low you think about quitting and then things will turn your way again.. It's life buddy, it isn't scripted or like a movie, it's the real deal and we can all see that.. Stay focused on your message of truth and honor, the rest will sort itself out.. I take inspiration from how much you make from nothing, sometimes a bannock and coffee in that scenery is worth the whole video.. Do what you Love Amigo it'll all go to the good in the end.

ROBERT WITH LOTS OF LOVE THESE ARE MY THOUGHTS . FIRST AND FOREMOST WORRY ABOUT NOTHING AND TAKE EVERYDAY AS A BLESSING. JUST FOCUS ON BEING YOU, WHATEVER COMES THAT DAY COMES . IF WHAT YOU HAD PLANNED TO COME DOESNT ,THEN GO TO PLAN B. SO TRAP WHEN YOU WANT TO, TRAP WHEN THERE IS ANIMALS TO GET. OTHERWISE WORK ON COOKING SOMETHING TO EAT OR DRINK AND FILM IT. MAYBE GO GET SOME HERBS FROM YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND FILM THAT. FILM WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR,FILM GOING OUT TO FIND THEM,FILM HOW TO PREPARE WHAT YOUR GOING TO MALE FROM THEM. FILM CLEANING AND COOKING THEM, FILM DRINKING OR EATING THEM. THEN YOU CAN FILM MAKING NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN STUFF,WITH BEADS OR NO BEADS,MAKING MOCKASINS,MAKING ARTWORK,MAKING NECKLACES FROM SOME THINGS YOU MAY HAVE LAYING AROUND. YOU CAN FILM GOING AROUND FILMING TOWN AND FILMING YOUR NEIGHBORS ,AND FRIENDS OR RELATIVES. YOU CAN HAVE THE CAMERA ON WHILE YOU ARE GATHERING TOGETHER AS FRIENDS, OR FAMILY. YOU CAN FILM SOMETHING THEY ARE DOING. YOU CAN PLAN A GET TOGETHER ONCE A WEEK WITH FRIENDS AND MAKE AFIRE ,HAVE SOME DRINKS OR FOOD. IT CAN B A POTLUCK IF YOU WANT. OR YOU CAN INVITE A FRIEND EVERYDAY OR EVERY WEEK TO GO DO SOMETHING TOGETHER. MAYBE YOU CAN TELL STORIES OF YOUR ANCESTERS, OR HOW TO VIDEOS ON SOMETHING. MAYBE YOU CAN LEARN TO WEAVE BASKETS. MAYBE YOU CAN MAKE CANDLES. MAYBE YOU CAN GO TO THE JUNKYARD WITH FREINDS OR RELATIVES AND BRING STUFF HOME,AND TRY TO RECYCLE IT BY MAKING SOMETHING NEW OUT OF IT. AND YOU CAN FILM EVERYTHING YOUR DOING TO TRY NEW STUFF. INSTEAD OF MAKING BANIK ,WHY DONT YOU TRY TO BAKE NEW THINGS,BISCUITS, BREAD,CAKES,COOKIES,PIZZA. CINAMON ROLLS. FILM EVERYTHING. FILM YOUR WHOLE DAY AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, WHAT YOU DO IN A WHOLE DAY FROM GETTING UP TO GOING TO SLEEP. YOU CAN FILM GETTING WOOD, AND CARVING SOMETHING OUT OF IR, ART OR A SPOON OR A WOODEN BOWL OR A MAKE CHAIR OUT OF WOOD. YOU CAN MAKE STUFF FROM YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND FILM THE ENTIRE PROCESS,THEN YOU CAN PUT IT ON YOUR CHANNEL AND SELL IT TO US. WE CAN BUY IT OFF OF YOU. MAYBE YOU CAN MAKE SOME HANDMADE SHIRTS OR BELTS OR FANNY PACKS FOR TRAVEL. TRY TO MAKE STUFF THAT WE MAY BE ABLE TO USE WHILE WE ARE OUT AND ABOUT. MAKE ALL KINDS OF THINGS FOR DIFFERENT TASTES THAT PEOPLE HAVE. FILM EVERYTHING AND JUST TALK TO US ON FILM ABOUT WHAT YOUR MAKING OR DOING AND EXPLAIN TO US IN DETAIL. SHOW US HOW YOU LIVE,WHERE DO U SLEEP,WHAT KIND OF SHOWER FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE TO YOU. TELL US AND SHOW US WHAT GOES ON THE RESEVATION DAILY WITH EVERYONE. AND GET YOUR OTHER TRIBAL MEMBERS ON CAMERA TO TELL US STORIES AND WHAT KINDS OF THINGS THEY LIKE TO DO,AND ASK THEM IF THEY CAN LET YOU FILM IT TO SHOW AND SHARE WITH US. THERE IS SO MUCH U CAN DO BESIDES TRAPPING. TRAPPING IS OK BUT IT CANT BE ALL YOUR SUBJECT,YOU HAVE SO MUCH MORE OF YOUR LIFE TO SHARE WITH US.THEN THAT WILL BE MOREINTERESTING,AND YOUR VIEWERS WILL WANT TO SEE ANOTHER VIDEO TO SEE WHAT YOUR GOING TO MAKE NEXT, OR WHO YOUR GOING TO BE WITH NEXT. YOU CAN MAKE PLANS TO HAVE GUESTS FROM YOUR SURROUNDING AREA, MAKE LIKE A SHOW. LIKE YOU CAN INTERVIEW THEM ,OR DO STUFF WITH THEM . FILM EVERYTHING. FILM YOUR FAMILY IF YOU HAVE FAMILY. FILM THEM COOKING A DISH. YOU CAN FILM THE COOKING AND MAKING OF DIFFERENT DISHES,AND RECIPES. THATS ALWAYS GOOD.IT MAKES PEOPLE HUNGRY AND WANT TO MAKE IT AND WANT TO SEE WHAT ELSE YOUR GOING TO COOK. DONT APOLOGIZE JUST BE HAPPY WITH WHATEVEVER YOUR PLAN IS FOR THE DAY. BE HAPP AND LAUGH. BEING SPONTANEOUS IS GREAT. MAYB SOME DAYS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR FILMING AND OTHERDAYS YOU WILL JUST FILM WHATEVER YOUR NATURALLY DOING THAT DAY. PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR MORE IDEAS I AM HAPPY TO HELP YOU ANY WAY I CAN. I AM VERY CREATIVE AND I AM ALWAYS THINKING OF THINGS IN MY REGULAR LIFE. FEEL FREE TO ASK US QUESTIONS ON CAMERA AND RESPOND TO QUESTIONS TOO THAT VIEWERS MAY ASK YOU. USE A FILMING DAY TO JUST RESPOND TO OUR QUESTIONS. AND MAYB GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO ALL YOUR VIEWERS ON YOUR PREVIOUS VIDEO. MAYBE SHOW US HOW TO DO FRY BREAD AND ALSO ANY OTHER TRADITIONAL FOOD YOU MAKE REGULARLY. LIKE EVEN BEANS. SHOW PEOPLE HOW TO MAKE BEANS OR RICE OR WHATEVER. TALK TO THE VIEWERS AND TELL US DURING WINTER WHAT DO U DO IN YOUR DAY,AND IN DETAIL,LIKE DO YOU CHOP WOOD, SHOW YOURSELF CHOPPING WOOD,OR CLEANING THE HEAT STOVE, SHOW US WHAT IS YOUR HEAT SOURCE, SHOW US WHERE YOU GO SHOPPING DURING WINTER,SHOW US HOW U SURVIVE DURING THE COLD WINER MONTHS. SHOW US WHAT U DO FOR ENTERTAINMENT, DO U WATCH TV,VIDEOS,LISTEN TO MUSIC,LET US SEE ALL THAT,ON CAMERA. WHAT IS YOUR DAY LIKE FOR YOU THERE IN THE WINTER,THEN ,HOW IS IT AFTER WINTER,HOW DOES IS CHANGE FOR YOU. FOR EXAMPLE.

There is fishing to do in the winter. You can make videos about that and how you do it. I to am curious about the cabin and that area. Not legal to trap there right now? Can’t get there? Is the new computer up and running? There are beaver in that one beaver house you showed us. Lots of work to trap beaver through the ice but it would be interesting to see. Snares work under the ice for beaver. There is Chaga to collect. There must be wintergreen plants in your area? Wintergreen tea from the leaves and berries is awesome. How to do that would be interesting. Foraging for treats in the woods would be an interesting addition to your channel. Lots of ideas Robert.

Robert , checkout channel called Trapping Today, the man is in northern Maine USA. He uses a hinged type box for his Martin and I think Fisher too. He seems to do well.

Robert, what you were trying to convey is that you should judge people by there character not there life style or there race or color of there skin. You put a lot in your videos to show us you’re life and how you live do not apologize to us. Those who complain can go watch other channels. You are a very good person and you will be rewarded later. Just keep doing what ever you want we will keep watching and hoping things will work out for you. God Bless you and your family, you have come far.

Robert, you mentioned a picture of that helicopter and I thought it would be nice if you have pictures of the old days you could do a segment where you talk about who is in the picture and what things were like back then. Old work pictures, hunting pictures, town pictures etc etc.

That charged for poaching statement made me think for a moment....Im guessing that you can trap all you want on the reservation, but once you step off, you would have to pick up a trapping license? Is that how it works? Just wondering... I enjoy the heck out of your videos anyways, even if the traps are empty...Lol.

Don’t get discouraged Robert. That’s the way it goes. Sometimes you get lots of fur other times ya don’t. Just keep making the videos of the experience. One thing I really like about your work is that it is not all set up. It’s as it happens as it is. Don’t loose that.

Robert, I can’t help but think that you might be leaving too much human sent around your trap sets. I am curious that the wolf had not tried to steal your lynx bate or your Martin bates. I am also thinking that you may want to use some fish for bats and change your lure ( it might be rancid from age ) check with a few other trappers on you tube to see what they are using. Just trying to help.

Hi Robert! I have been watching your channel for a year and I like it the way it is, fur or no fur. But if you wish to try something new with your channel, how about adding interviews. One thing I would like to see is you talk to other people in your community, I am curious about the elders, and also about the younger ones. How do they look on the future and the past? You have amazing stories and I am sure other people do to.

Explain why you are stuck on the reservation to trap? I do not understand. Do the trap lines cover areas that you have to buy or inherit?
