20:40 I have a personal headcannon for this elephant in the room: The atoll that we see above Bikini Bottom is located in the Marshall Islands, which is often used a test site for nuclear bombs. Obviously, the theory of the Bottomites being mutants created by these nukes has been debunked by Stephen Hillenburg himself, but I like to think that it might be true. Therefore, it’s probably safe to say that the Marshallese fish are far different from regular fish in other parts of the globe.
I'm kinda surprised that they made Patrick travel with SpongeBob instead of keeping him more on the background, because he ends up storming of at the beginning of every chapter. He disappears in chapters 2 and 4 but also isn't relevant or helpful in 3. It's too obvious how they tried to get rid of him but with a slightly differently written overall plot this issue could easily have been prevented.
You should honestly keep the old videos online except hidden and put links in the new videos' descriptions. Now I can't look back at my old comments. 🙈😅
As a non-English speaker, I used to think that the umbrella-parasol stuff was part of the English-American (vocabulary) differences, but it seems like a parasol is just meant for the sun and an umbrella for rain. 😅
It's very interesting to see how other writers handle the show's universe, with SpongeBob's grandma's behaviour, SpongeBob's poster of Sandy, etc. And there's reused artwork serving different purposes such as the Nasty Patty being "just" an old Krabby Patty. SpongeBob's character is also more snarky, especially in The Movie. Maybe a future video idea for you could be to talk about this kind of stuff? AWE Games' vision and handling of the show, their "lore", them liking Kelp Forest and the Dutchman, a compilation of their kind of (mature) jokes, and you can use examples from the whole PC game series.
This game really made me appreciate the background art on SpongeBob. The beautifully painted aesthetics of the backgrounds on shows like it and Camp Lazlo are super inviting and comfy and they feel like a lost art in comparison to shows these days using 3D and AI generated backgrounds.
I still remember playing this game when I was very young, and I still have good memories of this game, and It's nice to see when someone mentions this game
I swear, you are the #1 fan of these AWE SpongeBob point-and-click PC games, and I admire that. Everyone who talks about SpongeBob licensed games just defaults to referencing back to the console version of Battle for Bikini Bottom and the Movie Game, and maybe Cosmic Shake when that game's fondly remembered enough. It's refreshing to see someone acknowledge SpongeBob's other good games; like these and (my personal favorites) the WarioWare clones, SquigglePants and Game Gallery. Also, of course, the fact that you've so thoroughly and entertainingly reviewed so many of them, even the web games and some fanmade/bootleg ones. Arguably even more than AntDude, and he also got pretty deep into making videos about them himself. Love these videos, man. Been watching a lot recently, as I comment.
I kinda feel like Employee of the Year may have been the original intended title for the game but then maybe Nick's marketing team thought it'd be better to name it after an existing episode title.
Even though it's been ~17 years since I've played it I remember the 4th act of this game having a gorgeous color scheme, looks like autumn if my memory serves. Good review, thanks for bringing this game up, as it was my first Spongebob game on PC.
The best part of the "pretty jewelry" fish is that SpongeBob is so freaked out by them that he *refuses to talk to them again.* He just says "I don't wanna do that!" if you interact with the fish again.
Funny that the logo has all the characters posing around it, because it coincidentally shares a bit of similarity with an international localization difference of the show itself. The official Italian version of SpongeBob SquarePants, which is actually just called "SpongeBob"*, has a logo that reflects the shortened name, instead being surrounded by the main cast gripping around the logo as if it were a sign that they're physically holding up and posing around for a photo. I'd recommend PatMac's video series on foreign localizations of cartoons and anime if you want to know more about that, especially his one on dub theme songs that specifically focuses on ones that make significant changes instead of simply covering or copying the original versions; its very interesting(I know I keep shouting out PatMac in these kinds of comments but seriously, his videos are awesome). *I guess since his name is a combination of two English words, the full name wasn't necessary. I know the Spanish and French dubs(two other romantic languages) call the show as well as the character himself "Bob Esponja"/"Bob L'Eponge" respectively-- literally translating to "Bob the Sponge"-- instead, so maybe that has something to do with it too as that also removes mention of his surname.
In the future, you should cover the other games AWE has to offer! case in point, the PC version of Bratz Rock Angelz! a lot of Bratz fans are well aware of the console version but don't know a lot of the PC version which is a point & click adventure game mixed with a mini game compolation.
Obscure? Buddy, let me tell you. Employee of the Month was just one of the MANY PC games that formed my childhood! I adored that game and all it's weirdness. And if your curious, my other childhood pc games were Math Missions: The Amazing Arcade Adventure, Reading Blasters Age 9-12, Math Blasters ages 6-8, and the 3 Scholastic Scooby Doo games (Showdown at Ghost Town, Jinx at the Sphinx, and the knight one whose name I forgot).
If you really think about it, since Canibalisim is a thing in the Spongebob world, Plankton is trying to sell the guts and glop of Fish to other fish. Because of that, Chum is basically the SpongeBob version of Soylent Green.
I played this game a lot of as a kid. I thought SpongeBob worked really well in a point and click style like this. It felt like you were playing through an episode of the show. An admittedly rough feeling episode, but an episode none-the-less. Even though looking back the game really isn't all that great, I still have a soft spot for it and its sister point and click games.
Alright funny I found this video due to I been wanting to find reviews for this game (since there not much) and you pop and I like your style of review/ retrospective
A few people in the comments told me they couldn't hear the sound in it. It seemed like it came out way too quietly on most devices. I didn't notice it at first because it sounded okay on my phone, but listening to it on a desktop was a different story.
I see what you're doing your remaking things Cause you're turned out better That's your choice not mine my personal opinion I think you should leave Them up So you can look at them and realize how far you have come
"Sorry I took your can. 🥺"
"No problem 😐 I hate you 😤"

That's a good idea! I unlisted them because I didn't want people stumbling across them instead of the remakes, but I can definitely do that!
As a non-English speaker, I used to think that the umbrella-parasol stuff was part of the English-American (vocabulary) differences, but it seems like a parasol is just meant for the sun and an umbrella for rain. 😅
Wait there’s a difference?

You are correct, krabby patty 😊

I think squidward gave him the tickets so he would just go away
0:54 Holy hell, look at Patrick, that’s terrifying af 😭

This game is like one of my earliest memories, I feel like all the sound effects and voice lines are burned into my brain
12:06 god I could listen to Plankton plead his own innocence to a tv audience for HOURS dude this is so funny to me
I still remember playing this game when I was very young, and I still have good memories of this game, and It's nice to see when someone mentions this game
I like how it's written like amateur fanfiction but it has a totally sincere voicework from the shows cast

I love these point and click games and for me they’re better than the 3-D platform yes I know I’m crazy
I kinda feel like Employee of the Year may have been the original intended title for the game but then maybe Nick's marketing team thought it'd be better to name it after an existing episode title.
Youre obsessed w this vid aint you
To me this was the most iconic PC SpongeBob game
Even though it's been ~17 years since I've played it I remember the 4th act of this game having a gorgeous color scheme, looks like autumn if my memory serves. Good review, thanks for bringing this game up, as it was my first Spongebob game on PC.
3:11 That pin up of Sandy is what convinced me as a kid that Spongebob had a crush on her 😂.
6:41 “I’m not sure why the Dutchman would ever need those”
Flying Dutchman: “Tae use fer the bus, o’ course!!!! Waaaaghhhaaahaaahaaahaaa!!”
That clerk may actually be pronouncing it right. A barge is a type of ship. Is it a pun???
Click (Stealing car)
Car: beep beep click
SpongeBob: whoops hope no one heard that
The best part of the "pretty jewelry" fish is that SpongeBob is so freaked out by them that he *refuses to talk to them again.* He just says "I don't wanna do that!" if you interact with the fish again.
I grew up playing this game, I made sure to find every clickable thing I could! I’m glad to see someone covering it!
Man I had this and played through it like 10 times, I adored this game
0:56 What are these faces? 😂😂
I loved playing this one! Definitely my favorite :) I love how detailed this review was too, really hit me in the nostalgia feels!
I bought this at my schools Scholastic Book event and whenever I got to Rock Bottom I would get scared
1:40 "Wait, don't you want to see ..."
I've never been able to understand what Plankton was saying here. 🤔
“Wait, don’t you wanna see my diploma??”
The voices adds the cutscenes plus the charm of the classic show!

I really liked this video! Keep up the good work
Loved this game as a kid! Very underrated imo
Alright funny I found this video due to I been wanting to find reviews for this game (since there not much) and you pop and I like your style of review/ retrospective
14:36 hey! Sandy was in Jellyfish Fields in her first appearance! “Land squirrel!”
5:20 I seem to recall at least 1 time where Mr Krabs (and I mean voiced by Clancy Brown) pronounced it that way, can’t recall where though
One day I will play this again I swear
I always thought that the Kelp Forest below Sublime Seafoods was just A Kelp Forest not THE Kelp Forest.
16:16 Look, that commercial has flickering Rock Bottom fish artworks on the background 😅
i feel like I remember the graphics being so much better haha
I forgot I played this game until I saw the TV station
Ah this is actually the first ever spongebob game i have had :D
7:56 that cursed Patrick face
I loved this game as a kid
17:03 “you want me to read the bumps on your head” lmao wtf
I admit I’d gladly play this just for the gag with Mr Krabs 😂
Why are such masterpieces not available on Steam™️? 😢
Finding more things to do for this game
Make a complete remake of the game, then find out that you will get a DMCA if you release that remake
Those cutscenes look horrifying.
The SpongeBob pc games were so classic
I miss this game.

It's weird how bad and how good the art can be at the same time.
I watched the original video not that long ago.
It didn't seem to have any problems
A few people in the comments told me they couldn't hear the sound in it. It seemed like it came out way too quietly on most devices. I didn't notice it at first because it sounded okay on my phone, but listening to it on a desktop was a different story.
I actually had this game
13:18 It's cannon SpongeBob plays DND
Did you just re-uploaded this video too?
I see what you're doing your remaking things Cause you're turned out better That's your choice not mine my personal opinion I think you should leave Them up So you can look at them and realize how far you have come
