  • This cart belong to a buddy of mine and today I switched out the old lead acid batteries for some lithium batteries. I also added a dc converter and wired it to turn on and off with his key switch. This was a simple install and if you have a ezgo txt pds cart then this is what you can expect.

You should always post videos for content. You never know what video will grow your channel. I would highly suggest you maki g a separate video from this one just on hooking up the relay. You would be amazed how many viewers you could get. Lots of people go to UA-cam for instructions on how to accomplish tasks. You did a great job explaining the converter

I have a question…i was installing a navitas 5kw kit on my club car precedent last night. When i pulled the factory motor off there was a lot of moisture inside and rust. Do you do anything before installing the new motor to keep moisture from getting inside, like a gasket or rubber oring?

What's the difference using 1 vs 2 vs 4 batteries if the end net result is 36 or 48v anyway? Seems that 3 or 4 12v batteries end up much cheaper that a single large battery?

My name is Wilson. My question is I have a voltage reducer and a puck converter for my lights. Can I eliminate the puck converter and just use the blue voltage reducer? Love your content. It’s helped me a lot.

It is called a "Buck" convertor. There are buck and boost convertors, buck lowers the voltage, boost as the name implies, raises the voltage.

OK I am going to ask some questions that some might think are stupid.
I see that most electric golf carts have standardized on 48V.
What is the intent to make a 36V or 72V golf cart?
The weight of the batteries must be one concern.
I dont understand why the manufacturer would want to make and stock motors of 3 different voltages.
Why would you not standardize on one motor and controller for all of the carts that you make?
If someone needed a limo cart with 6 or 8 forward facing seats, could you install a motor that will tolerate 48 to 72 volts, and then you could have multiple battery boxes that can accommodate multiple sets of 72 volt packs? That way your limo cart could handle the additional weight and torque needed.
Is it possible to convert a 36V or 72V cart to a more standard 48V?
It seems like you would have to change out the motor and controller, or at least a controller that can handle a voltage range of 36V to 72V.

I have a question. Could you do a video on putting lithium batteries on a resistor cart? I’ve heard that resistor carts can’t take lithium but I think you could figure out a way to make it work.

I have the same golf cart. 2008 36v pds. I need new batteries. Should I stay 36v and just go lithium? Or should I upgrade to 48v lithium with navitas AC conversion and 5kw and 600a controller ?

    • @docmia21

    • @Fentertainment

If you plan to upgrade to navitas ac why stop at 48v lithium, just go straight to 72v.

@@Fentertainment well for one thing the 72v batteries are more expensive. About $900 more for the raptor 2 100ah than the 48v falcon bigbattery 122ah kit.
What would be the biggest benefit of going 72v vs 48v?

Is it necessary to run a relay with falcon 48 V battery and Nikons plus light kit

    • @Fentertainment
      @Fentertainment  8 місяців тому

I always run a relay with this type of reducer. But do you have to? You Dont Have To. For many years people ran these with out a relay. The only reason I run a relay is because if the cart is sitting not being used while you are at work or sleeping or whatever. The converter is running and converting 36v to 12v.

Interesting to me because I install a lot of Big Battery lithium batteries locally. On ezgo’s I clean and paint the tray and fill the gaps with 2x8 pressure treated boards after cutting off the hold down tabs. I than use the supplied hold down brackets and screw them into the boards. I’ve done 36 , 48 and just did a 72 volt on ezgo. I’ve been only using one battery except for the 72 volt. We are flat and paved here in this golf cart community so one has been fine. I never thought to widen out the tray to install the battery in the back tray but good idea. I always use the relay after watching your video on how to install it , works great. Always look forward to your videos, they have been very informative and helpful. You’re saved me more than once , keep them coming.

@@johnlamarca1099 Take your time. Be sure not to hook anything up while the battery is on and put it in tow. Most people make the mistake of accidentally reversing the polarity and not putting it in tow.
