What Asobo needs to do is create an auto save process that writes to an xml or json file the flight plan info, the current coordinates of the plane, and all plane settings at a specified time interval that can be decided on by the user in a front end setting somewhere (maybe default it to 5 or 10 minutes). This way an incomplete flight can be resumed (a flight that has taken off and not landed). The user should be able to select from a list of incomplete flights (and also have the ability to delete undesired incomplete flights) in order to pick up right where they left off. When a flight is completed, the data from the file can then be used to populate the logbook as well so total flight time is not lost for those who wish to track their logbooks.
That’s a fantastic idea! I agree with MrPresident, you should put it up on the forums so we can vote it up! On top of that we should put out the word that someone should develop a simple mod that can do that.
the most important thing asobo needs is do a hotfix again and fix CTD, SU5 make people frustate when CTD happened. increase sim performance is good but in the end if the sim frequently cause CTD, people wont enjoy playing it thoo XD
That’s great an all and I’d love it if it was done right. Trouble is many games and sims have a tendency to have stutters when it saves, and knowing this sim and Asobo’s incompetence that’s very likely. I mean right now the damn plane can be effected just by changing something in the menu’s, and save system like that would probably end up a mess like most things in this sim right now.

When MSFS was released it seemed to me that things were more reliable than they are now. I could, for example, pretty reliably use ATC. Now it's just a huge mess and, being quite frank, I am just going to wait until it's all ironed out. Not holding my breath.

I personally think they should raise the recommended specs to gen4m.2 ryzen5000 cpus and nvidia3000 GPUs. 32gs ram and everyone would be good to go. Minimum would of course be lower, but that would be the recommended. If you used recommended specs I bet your issues would disappear. It’s really their fault for leaving the recommended game requirement specs so low. I mean come on guys…this sim runs on a console 🤦♂️ ffs..maybe it’s upgrade time..no hate to anyone personally btw. My specs are as follows: Ryzen 7 5800X GTX 1080Ti 11GB 32 GB RAM 480 GB SSD windows 1 TB m.2 MSFS2020 1 TB SSD other games 1TB HDD extra stuff Again like I said I won't hold it against you with regards to your comment on my specs cause I see what you mean; can't complain about a game with a potato PC but as we can see I have some decent firepower under the hood. My theory is my superclocked graphics card. It is factory overclocked however prior to SU5 never had crashing issues. Either way I am one of the unfortunate people who can no longer play the sim I hope you understand now that it's not exactly my PC struggling but somewhere buried in the code has some issues.
@@denziiey I mean, I’ve seen worse specs, but that still could be part of the issue. If that was my pc, I would do a fresh Install of windows and the game of course and try it fresh. I have two PCs. One with a 5900x 3080ti and gen4 m.2. Works great. I also have a backup pc with 3600x 980ti gen3 m.2 which is more around yours. I’m gonna try to install on the backup and see if any issues come up. If none then I will confirm to myself it’s not a hardware problem. If I have problems then I’ll know it’s a hardware issue. I’m gonna do some testing to confirm suspicions. Cheers man. @@denziiey if you do try the fresh install of windows. Use you 1tb fastest m.2 for os and use the ssd for storage. You can always leave old os on ssd and come back to it if no difference. Just what I would try. Goodluck man
This is a great workaround, im pretty sick of crashing when i go from vr to desktop or back. cant do a 6 hour flight in vr need to go to desktop at some point.
For Nvidia GPU users with GeForce experience, you may want to try switching from gaming drivers to studio drivers, then reset graphics setting manually within MSFS. This has worked for me since hotfix2, might work for you. No crashes for nearly a week so far. I have not seen any reduction in FPS doing this so far.
Long way for a shortcut! Just save the flight as 'a' every 30 mins or as frequently as you like - it'll take only seconds. On relaunch you'll maybe need to pause & reset some things, & the saved file may CTD
Thanks Gav. This will help with MSFS on the Xbox, as it has a tendency to have complete blackouts of the instrument displays about 1.30-2 hours into every flight, on the A320N. The workaround isn't ideal, as the problem is infuriating really, but it's a good one nonetheless. 👍
Just great. If only I had seen this video a month agao when I was enroute JFK to REK and bombed out over YQX. Little Nav told where it happened but restarted again from YQX. btw on a diff subject is there a way to override the often incorrect ATC overshoot instruction which paralyses your aircraft and forces you into another lengthy round the houses exercise.
What about using FSUICP by the Dowsons? You used to be able to save a flight at a pre-set time, say every 15 minutes or some other period, and then reload it;.
Ugh, just started getting CTDs after several months without. Made zero changes to my well spec’d PC so heaven only knows why they are happening again... but 3 crashes in one afternoon is driving me back to super-stable x-plane till the next update.

Hi Gavin. This has worked perfectly for me. BUT since SU15, once you have loaded the FP etc and launched the sim, the aircraft appears in the air at the point you chose. When you press fly,. the aircraft is at the same point but on the ground now!! Can you look into it if you have time to see if there is a fix, plse? Keith

This is interesting, but not not thought of before. Basically load a saved flight. Starting from a way-point is novel though. But what we need, since this program is turning out to be a little more than problematic, is a way to unstick a stuck program. Seems it's getting hung up on some module and something has to get into the program and push it past that point. But you shouldn't have to do that. I spent $100 on this thing, and so far it's been a disappointment and a ripoff. Signed - Can't Wait for X-12.
Can you help? My flight crashes to desktop only when I am on final approach, just feet from the landing runway. Do you know what causes these desktop crashes? I can fly for hours with absolutely no problem, until I'm just about to touch down to the runway. I've changed cash sizes I'm updated graphics drivers, it's frustrating.
X Box MSFS, do they happen to CTD ? , or is it PC mods ? , or is it the Frankenstein code from update 5 ? , either way Asobo needs to address the issue , it's getting a wee bit frustrating , ...
FYI also when you need to reconfigure the aircraft you can do all that when you're in the pause screen or you could just restart and go into slow mode and get to your spot from where it crashed there
If you save the game and had a crash, even if you save a flight and load it, everything is off. In the cockpit, whether and also your flightplan is destroyed. How can it be if you make a save that still in 2023 everything got erased. Or I want to train mysrlf in bad crosswind whether. If I save the flight so I can do it over and over, after loading everything is fucked up. With lot of wind and no visibility you need ILS. So the plan has ILS programmed but after saving and reloading the ILS system is gone. So I hate it so much to constantly make a new plan. Even after making a flightplan and whether settings in the menu before flying. If the game starts, a lot of specific settings I made like the wind, direction etc. Isn't loaded. What do I WRONG in this game that normally easy things aren't working after 3 full years. It is a shame..😤

I had a better idea on my last CTD, after only getting one flight in since su5 I've uninstalled msfs2020 and not looking at it until a positive update is with us where you don't have PC wizz kid to enjoy it.

This is hardly a good working solution at all. It uses none of the last known Flights in History. Regardless, History Logs also have somethings not go right about them. Right now the bug of Last Game Crashed On Closing is due to CVT Folders yet they still have one in Official Folder. It's said to be getting a Hotfix because Mods which use those do still work: PMP A321& SSJ100. BTW, you still need to know that FBW A32NX STABLE 0.6.3 does work. You have been wrong in your latest blogs on this. They should have added that Version in Marketplace which then fixes the 0.6.1 last used to not give issues.
i had this issue with my steam version. couldnt fly at all just ctd when i click fly. i downloaded the gamepass version for pc and what do ya know..it works fine havent crashed once. idk whats up witht he steam version. Also, gamepass is on sale for 1$ first month right now.

I’m on steam and she literally never had a ctd. I’m using gen4 samsung980 pro 1tb m.2 and 5900x 3080ti with 64gz 3200c16 ram and yeah, literally zero issues with the game. It takes less than 30 seconds to load akd runs perfect. Ffs it can run on a console. Maybe consider upgrading hardware. Cheers✌🏼 no hate personally

i can't fly for more than 5 minutes. It's a big joke right now. If world update 6 is still messy i might wash my hands with this sim

If you have volanta, you can get premium and it saves where you left off so when your sim crashes, you can just load the save flight

Usualy I insert flight plan not by world map but directly into mcdu. In this case it's not possible to save plan I suppose....

Does not work for me for some reason. After click Fly now I always end up back on the runway.

The toolbar tab doesn't disappear anymore does it? I installed the mod to remove and ctd galore

You'd have to go into the weights screen and edit these manually before or after loading in. Use the OFP to get these.

@@billygames7107 Well, that same "weak" system used to run this game fine before the latest update. And I am playing in VR with 2160 x 2160 pixels per eye.
