Laser Gates review!
Classic Game Room reviews LASER GATES for Atari 2600 by Imagic released in 1983! Fly through the cyber-brain on your way to destroy the detonators in this Vanguard meets Defender space ship shooter with laser gates and shooty walls!! CGR Laser Gates UA-cam review has Laser Gates Atari gameplay recorded especially for this CGR video review of LASER GATES!!
Looks rather impressive for Atari
+Ruko Michiharu NEW JERSEY!!!!
Who needs football on Thanksgiving: I'm lovin' me some Lord Karnage Atari 2600 action. Laser Gates was a lot of fun for me as a kid.
+Brian Liddicoat Right on, bro! Yeah!
1:52 - _"It's fun to stay at the Y.M...."_ wait... what? That's not the song?!
Oh. I loved playing this game on my Atari clone called Dactar, in the 80ies. What a great fun!
I remember playing this game on a Atari clone at a friend's house, we really enjoyed this one.
Knowing that this show is coming to an end, makes watching these new videos a bitter sweet experience.
I know what you mean dude
+Mike Oliver it's ending?
Oh man! How I love this show! I couldn't believe he just review one of the games I used to play in my childhood and had completelly forgotten about... What a feeling!
Ferg is reviewing this game this weekend, I just thought I'd say, Mark, that your review here is what got me hooked on Imagic games in general. This is an A+ game! Thanks so much for your amazing channel and it's one of my top favorites to go back and watch. A++ my friend! -BCB
I loved this game as a Kid and still love it
Impressive! Looks like fun, never heard of this one..
Do you all remember playing these old games and then applying your own imagination to them to really flesh them out.
When I was a kid it was one of my favorite games for Atari 2600
There is always something exciting about the 2600s sound. Its not nostalgia, as I feel the same now as I did then. It just adds so much to the experience.
Rad. I have never seen or heard of this game. I should try it! :D
I liked your rendition of kings of metal at the beginning.
Hi Mark, love your reviews. I am surprised though that you've never reviewed MSX games on cartridge. There were some really great ones on that system. I have Nemesis 3 (spin off from Gradius) & that is a great (if difficult space shoot em up). The sound on some of these cartridge games is amazing due to the SCI(I think) sound chip that is used. Have you played any MSX games? Thanks again for all the good times on your channel.
I own a pirated copy of Laser Gates, titled “Laser Volley” - sold under the “Zeller’s” name. Zellers was a department store chain out of Canada. The (Laser Volley) game label artwork is so weird!! For whatever reason, I find it strangely cool!
Trippy!
I want to play this game!
nice and entertaining review
One of my favorites. Has anyone managed to destroy all 4 detonators? My best was about 3/4 of the way to the 4th...where speeding up by flying to the right becomes required to beat the "disco" timer.
Impressive, most impressive.
this actually looks awesome! so hi-tech for being a game from 83!
Laser Gates is an awesome game for the 2600. Both fun and challenging. One of the more advanced games for the system.
I LOVE the intro!
This one looks awesome!
Wouldnt mind trying this out
Mark's lines should be mixed into a song. Good fun.
Graphically very primitive but it shows some impressive amount of colors.
The Imagic initial public offering video is on UA-cam. These guys made great 2600 games but the NES was too complicated for them. :/
Imagic was the best developer back in its time.
I love imagic. They're like the konami of atari :D
I didn't know about this game! Now I need it!
looks good, I'll have to track down a copy for sure.
Hey! I had this game but it was called Cavern Blaster! O_o
the laser effects are pretty cool
man that song fits that game perfectly :D
reminds me of resogun kind of. I really like the looks and sounds of this game
Never seen this game before. Looks really deep for an atari shooter.
Wait a minute, hold the phone. Was that an Aliens quote? Hudson: "That's it man, game over man, game over!"
oh how I love good Atari games especially when they do it right this looks like a blast I am on eBay right now thanks Classic Game Room
My fav shump on the 2600...
Nice looking game, but the sound is what I found most amazing.
Great game, super sound effects. BTW... Stay Alive ! :)
there's also laser gates for the 5200 !
alright who put LSD in the laser gate charge cores?
Now its my turn to say it - " I have never heard of this title before ". Shows that Gradius R-type clones are possible on the 2600
Love this game, got an extra copy, just in case!
One of the best og Atari games, I played the S out of this until that birth day I got an NES.
the missiles are easy, line up when they appear, and when they start _homing_ press down and fire at the same time.
I have to get this game for my atari!
solid game
This game reminds me of Scramble.
I live in the same town as the sender
The Atari was simply not made for horizontal scrolling games. Laser Gates is a masterpriece of programming talent.
3:53 anyone notice the 6507?
This game looks like different parts of the Sans bossfight from Undertale combined into one stage, but without the gravity.
*****
We keep finding each other on random parts of UA-cam! I didn't know you were a CGR fan! :D
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving yourself! ;3
I thought laser gates was where u flew a ufo looking ship near the top of the screen and you could shoot stuff on the ground with your laser either straight down or on a slight diagonal either left or right. What game am i thinking of if it isn't laser gates? it was a really good game
+Skud The game you are thinking of is Laser Blast.
+The Dank Side Of The Force Thanks! that was the one I was thinking of
Skud
You're welcome. :)
We all need to fight in the name of Disco Time!
0:01 dat wallpaper
can't tell if that "Stay alive" was a pun or not
I have this built into my original Atari which has like 100 built in games.
pretty descriptive title for that game
Speeding up is required by the third level or the D-Time runs out. I almost beat this game on the original Atari 2600 once; I reached the last detonator just as the D-Time ran out and didn't get off a shot. I never got to see what happens if you beat the game.
Of course it would have to be Imagic.
Which, of course means I never heard of it.
And, I do admit it looks awesome.
Now, I want a copy.
E-Bay? Got one for a dollar?
better than a LOT of recent games
Atari plus Disco what could be more awesome?
CGR saved Thanksgiving
Holy fuck, this game looks awesome!
It's always Disco Time in space. Always. Trying to sleep? No! It's Disco Time!
Sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads...
So basically the ancestor to flappy bird???
Is these Flappy Bird of 1970's
All games should have disco time! And I'm flying that ship while wearing my leisure suit.
I just love those 80's style psychedelic wall tiles, those were so ugly even when they were in fashion...
New Jersey!
Same explosion sound as river raid
Imagic had quite a few really good games back in the day.Lase Gates was one of them.Played it alot on the Atari 8bit computers.
Awesome 😈
That could be the last-ever "NEW JERSEY". That makes me sad in a way that transcends time and space.
I like the Atari 800 version
WOO! DIsco time!
Seriously, does anyone know the name of that disco track?
Yes Mark that's great and all, but does the game have a flamethrower?
LASER GATES LASER GATES
GATES OF LASERS!!!
cgr is awesome
Laser Gates??
do super football for Atari 2600
Imagic made great stuff, I'd put them on the same level as Activision.
Haha knew i had seen that pic before. On your instagram x) Ibfollow u there btw om maxgamingpowernorway :) love cgr dont ever quit :D
is this what heaven looks like?
Major use of the Atari's sound in this one.

Never heard of this one,I started high school in 1982 and Atari time was replaced with trying to pick up girls.Atari was not a chick magnet...............
why is Mark so incompetent when it comes to putting games into the cartridge slot?
Because you touch yourself at night.
