    My brain works a lot better on intermittent fasting, I don't think body builders like it though

    • @Re3iRtH
      @Re3iRtH 6 років тому +1

      That literally makes no sense physiologically. If you fast for 12 or even 14 hours.. you are no where long enough to produce any ketones. Yet after 3-6 after each meals.. your glucose levels drop so your brain won't function. So you both don't get glucose that you need (you're not keto-adapted) or any appreciable rise in BHB. I work in a hospital setting and even if I drink coffee in the AM, I always perform worse if I haven't had breakfast. Your brain needs glucose. End of story. You aren't in nutritional ketosis even after an 14-16 hour overnight fast.

    • @martinirving3824
      @martinirving3824 6 років тому +7

      @Re3iRTH,
      Apparently you're not fat adapted then. Your metabolism (as in yours, specifically) runs predominantly on glucose, and that's your problem, not anyone else's (although your "hangriness" may be a problem for other people).
      I intermittent fast every day, typically 16 to 18 hours but sometimes out to 20 hours. There is no doubt I'm fat adapted. My blood glucose typically is in the 90's. it's never in the 70's. I believe it is for this reason I rarely actually feel hungry.) I have a ketomojo so I know what's up with my blood glucose and I've occasionally measured ketones. I can easily get to "light ketosis" (0.7 mmol'dL, when last measured) in less than 24 hours . That means my metabolism runs predominantly on fat and doesn't use a lot of glucose, even though I don't actually eat low carb. It's more the old school, 40,40,20 macronutrient breakdown.

    The transitional phase is temporarily stressful on the brain similar to how breathing is temporarily stressful on the lungs, then fuel preference changes from glycogen to ketones.

    I listen to Charles whenever i can, an amazing knowledgeable guy. One thing that stands out here is that Insulin ages you ( agree) but fasting is bad (disagree, too much science) but Paleo is good (agree) Part of eating like a Cave man is starving like a cave man ..Charles i think is not doing himself any favors eating 5 times a day ( just my opinion). Also to say you will kill someone if you ever got hungry. MMM I'm not sure he would accept that come back from his athletes when he tells them what they need to eat to look and train better..Great interview though, will definitely check out his other vids..Thanks

    Grains were far better back then too. Also all the other toxins through air, food, water and vaccines, dental, and hygiene/skin products...

    • @otallono
      @otallono 5 років тому +5

      Anyone who thinks vaccines or flouride are a problem are just as dumb as flat Earthers. Because you lived long enough to know what either of them do to your body. The benefits outweigh the risks as always, ask your doctor to explain it to you, a lot of people don't understand that. It's like avoiding driving in a car or airplane because of the fact that you might die. That's called paranoia. Sorry to say, you're not going to live til 100+ whether you drink city water or crystal clean water, and so on. And life expectancy only increases as time goes on (worldwide) despite all the things you mentioned. Sure, people today like to stuff their face with fast food and get heart disease, and put chemicals on their face because they're insecure, that's what makes them happy so they do it. Has nothing to do with what's in our water, air or medicine.

    So I found out what SARMS are... I knew there had to be more to this guy than just a completely natural diet. Researching SARMS is interesting... hard to find any negative information about them. I would rather avoid them until I am older and require them, and by then more research would have been done

    I really like Charles but he does spout some incorrect information
    The things he’s wrong about:
    1Cardio is intrinsically bad:
    It’s true that chronic exhaustive cardio has been shown to have detrimental effects: But Moderate steady state cardio is healthy.
    2 His Chinese medicine bullshit:
    3 When he says “ first thing that you eat dictate your neurotransmitter levels through the day”
    There isn’t any science on this, that’s why he’s not quoting any literature.
    But he is an entertaining and intelligent man with many useful tips and ideas and has proven himself in what he does and much of what he says is and consistent with current scientific literature.
