love this video. No talking crap. Straight to the point. Makes it look simple. Hopefully will be 😊
Just finished our 2nd chair. Beautiful and comfortable. Thank you for this video - my wife and I enjoyed working on this together. Lots of work, but simple and easy to follow instructions and worth every bit of effort.
Very nice. I took apart 30 barrels for future projects as if I don't have enough to do
Thank you, finally a true woodwork do it yourselfer without an elaborate professionally equipped workshop
Excellent tutorial, clear and simple to follow
Great build and your a very modest guy. thks.
Love the chair 😊
Brilliant. Thanks.
Beautiful Chair! Nice job!
I love it! I bought one for a friend a few years ago. I am going to make a couple for myself now. Thanks for the plans.
Great videos! The detail you have went into is great and really has inspired me to make something out of a barrel I have had stuck in my garage for about 6 months. Keep the ideas and videos coming as being from Scotland theres lots of whisky barrels to get your hands on (saying that the barrel i have in my garage is actually a Jack Daniels one). Thanks for taking the time to put these videos together.
Just finished my fist chair today. Thanks for the plans and video
Very cool thanks
That rocks!!, I make adirondack chairs from bourbon barrels in the UK, rocking chairs are my next build for the autumn, winter range, great vid
This is great, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the tutorial I watched your other video 9-10 times pausing taking notes and finally making three chairs roughly following your example except I changed the height and pitch a little and instead of fanning the back out at the top I fanned out the bottom and crowned the top and then added some wood burning aspects to the final by the third chair actually got pretty good and have the perfect Christmas gift for my wine drinking family and friends
That’s great! I’m so glad this was useful. Thank you for sharing. 🙌
Instead of 3 drills, get a counter sink drill bit, you will be able to drill the pilot hole and counter at the same time! Nice video and great idea
The most frustrating thing about woodworking is knowing that the simplest concepts have already been invented and will solve your problems. Yes, you are right. I never even considered this. 🙌🙌
I came here to say this too, countersink bits make life so much easier!
Love it love it LOVE IT. If I might be allowed a small suggestion? Make your plugs for the forstner holes from scrap staves. It will add a really nice low key touch.
Way to go Stud!
Hey Shane! Thanks!
Ein sehr schönes Projekt 👍🍷 Grüße aus Deutschland 👏👋
To fill the holes I bought a plug bit from harbor freight and cut out several plugs from a stave cut off. The grain will go the same direction and you can lightly chisel it to match the height
Nice video, new subscriber here
wow.. that is cool.. i know a distillery that sells their barrels for $50 after they use them for their whiskey.. i'm going to buy a couple of them now
That’s awesome!
Really nice chair. Where might I get barrels?
Question for you. On your instructions, you talk about cutting the back legs at a 5 degree angle so they point inward toward each other. I was trying to figure out what you meant or how that was possible when building a square w the seat base. Thanks in advance! Great video and great product
Great question! I posted a video trying to explain. There will be a slight overhang past the seat board so the front leg can connect. The angle is to try and match the curve of the front brace. I hope that is helpful in some way 😂
What is the size difference between the two barrels?
Just found your video but the link is not working. Can you send the plans please
You’ve inspired me. I can’t find the link for the plans. Can you make them available or email me?
If you follow this link, withkoji.com/@Spoonsprojects, I've shared a google doc how to build a wine barrel chair. Hope that helps!
Do I need 2 barrels to =1 chair?...pretty cool btw
One barrel will give you 25-30 staves. Rocking chair requires 23-26 staves. The short answer is, you should be able to go 1 for 1
Please tell us what Sealers to use on the charred side so char does npot rub off on clothing. Thanks hawk
I use a spar urethane, oil based, exterior grade, satin finish as my sealing coat. Apply at least 2 coats. I’ve had the best luck with that. I’ve used deck sealer, teak and tung oil, some other stuff, but best results with spar urethane
How much do you charge for your chairs?
How tall are these barrels?
How much do you charge for a chair?
Cant get the drawings from the link
Just curious if instructions are gone I click an says error not found
Thank you so much for this video! Quick question, should the barrel be completely dry before using the staves or should I saturate the barrel before disassembling and cutting? Thanks!
I’ve had better results with dry barrels 👍
I thought so! Thanks!
Hello How long are the 2 front legs also the one with the pung hole??
I cut the front legs at 23”. The bung hole board at 28”
Question here. Can this be made from one barrel or will you likely need more then one to complete? I have a single 55 gallon barrel. Thanks!
Yes, you can make a full chair with a single barrel. The chair takes 23-25 staves, and a barrel will have 25-30 staves. Just be sure to lay out where you want all the boards to go, and you should be good
Hi, thanks so much for the video. I finally found a couple whiskey barrels and now the Kojii link you provided is dead. Could I please get the plans?
Link updated! Hopefully it works!
@@spoonsprojects6649 You sir are awesome! Thanks so much. Will you be uploading any new videos?
So glad you’re getting value from the content! What kind of videos would you like to see?
@@spoonsprojects6649 Since I'm just getting into stave builds maybe more ideas to make a little side cash. Of course not looking to get rich, but anything would help nowadays. How did your '22 plan work out for you? Maybe an update on that.
How many barrels did it take for one rocking chair
You only need one barrel
Which brand poly do you use?
Spar urethane, oil based, exterior grade, satin finish.
Choose whatever works best for you, but that’s what I’ve landed on. 👍
