Hey Mary! You're awesome!
(I've always dreamed of having a Flying V electric guitar... but with NYLON strings!)
Perhaps you can help us spread the word: UKEs should be taught in every elementary school on earth! They're like kittens... you don't have to feed! (I also got a zillion adults to love uke... b/c they tried guitar and the metal strings turned them off. Even a 5 year old can start playing songs on uke in seconds!! Simple and fun!!) (Ha: I wrote to Mike Bloomturd to ask him to buy ukes for every child on earth, during Covfefe 19.) (I'm sure he loves to be geniuinely altruistic!) (S)
I'm a street performer (Tronic Uke!) in NYC / New England and to my shock, strangers go apeshit for what I do. (The web has made it so most ppl have to "up the dose" and they want to see stuff they've never seen before!) (I gotta find a great street drummer though! KNOW ANY in New England?) xoxoxoxo
ua-cam.com/video/S_vxQOH051U/v-deo.html
I'm most likely build that one. Crazy seeing it. Here.
Looks like you have a lively fun channel. Glade I found it
OMG I really apreciate ur accent!!
But without an actual hard case is a 'no' for me. Btw, what do you mean by "...DI it in..."..?
Two guitars in 1 for the price of 3!
No better way to describe it
hahahahaha
I mean it's like 10 guitars and they all sound amazing :))
mhm. I'd love a comparison to an electric with piezo bridge. Like an Epiphone LP Ultra, they were hollow too. Or..has anyone put a piezo bridge in something like an ES335 before? Must be awesome.
Priceless!😶
Me: Time to get back into guitar, couldnt have changed that much right?
1:37 - you have to what now?!
Lol😆
same. much has changed in the two years i took a break. and now you have to charge your guitar
Yeah well before you had to bring a 9v battery for those electro acoustique guitars :P
I think it's a good move as I'm not sure how batteries are delt with in the after life
@@Aniki82 Yep! Got an acoustic electric 12 string. Powered by a 9V.
I really enjoy the relaxed nature of your videos. Most of the internet is *BOOM BAM HEY HI*, which is fine sometimes, but having relaxing dialogue, a static camera, and warm tones is a nice change of pace. Feels like a living room conversation!
I own a "stratacoustic" they made years ago. A truly hollow body electric. It sounds like an acoustic guitar but when I put it through my multi-effects pedal it sounds like an solid body electric. It plays like an electric guitar because you can bend strings easily. $275 new. Some players didn't like it but I love it.
I wonder when we'll get the Squier version (Hint, hint).
The thing that made me a Mary Spender Fan is your intriguingly beautiful tone! You have an interesting technique that is both pleasing to my ears and fascinating to watch. I love the way you pick out the melody from with in the chords and the use of your thumb on the E string to set the pace. Deceptively simple yet oh so difficult to emulate! Your's and Lari Basillio's styles are instantly recognizable and that is a Major accomplishment in it's self, Cheers! Add to that you can sing, no, you can SANG, Girl! You are The Total Package Miss Mary! I'm curious to see how you'll integrate your new Acoustasonic into your unique style. The looks of it take some getting use to for us traditionalist, but there's no denying the sound of it!!!!
I like the way she talks too.
"Interesting split personality." Indeed! My Acoustisonic Tele has that same split personality. I was one of the first to get my hands on one a year ago this past February. It was a game changer for me as I never played slide until I got it! I would like to get my hands on a Acoustisonic Strat next! Peace.
The joy on your face at 7:10 when the distortion comes in is just lovely
I've seen a half dozen demos with this guitar, and this is the first one that it actually sounds good in...
Yay, any guitarday is a good day, let alone a new guitar day.
You make it look good as all guitars you presented.
Acoustic sounds with a bit of fuzz or dirt is tha bomb.
More o that please?!!!
Stay safe and in good health, till next,
Grtz!!
These are crazy expensive, but I can see how useful it might be for the gigging professional (getting well paid) not for me, but enjoyed your demo Mary!
I have 2. One outright after selling another $1K guitar, and a 2nd on the 48 months SWS no interest thing. $40 a month no interest, pay early if you want. Getting one is easy assuming you have a job/decent credit. I think they are worth it. My only regret is now I want a Strat to go with the Tele. I got a 2 place MONO electric bag, so now I have 1 bag with nearly everything, including a back up guitar. Prior I basically had a 2 trip load in. Now, 1. I guess my point is, they are a bit spendy, but, I think I am DONE buying after these for at least 10 years. Another thing, these roasted necks are super stable. I have a couple Rainsong Carbon Fiber guitars, and they rival those for out fo the bag stability.
I definitely agree this guitar isn't particularly ideal for distortion/overdrive pedals. But where it undoubtedly shines is its clean, acoustic sounds. This is a beautiful guitar, and it complements your beautiful voice phenomenally well. ;w;
Also see paul davids one. It also has a great looping part. Just AMAZING.
i've never been so sure to sub to a channel before,, extremely quality content, well explained, straight forward, excellent choice of word and definitely a good singer and guitarist!
I just watched this demo, to hear Mary play, soothes my soul
4:08 this song made my whole day a lot brighter
Any idea what the song is called?
Lewis MacKenzie search up never gonna give you up- rick astley
You are such a great talent ! I am blown away by your voice and guitar skills.
First video I see about you and I loved the way you reviewed this fender. Receive my Love and support from Mexico!
I play keyboards, but still love watching your honest guitar reviews. And of course love listening to your playing and voice. So wonderful!!!
It's times (and price tags) like these that I'm glad I'm left handed.
Great playing and singing! Thanks for your great content and stay healthy!
I bought one last week because I'm an over the road truck driver in the USA. I wanted something that wouldn't take up a lot of space and would be easy on the fingers because I haven't played in years so it will be learning all over again.
Your song in the end of your video was great - good presentation of the guitar. You will for sure make it. You have the energy and the wish
nobody:
Fender Acoustasonic Stratocaster: $1,999.99
Toures Tiu I thought it was 500, god damn
Nobody:
After having talked with so many band kids, it doesn't sound so insane for an American made instrument.
I mean, you know what a bassoon cost's?!
Sondre Strømme
Bassoon, easily 10,000. Pro alto sax can be 5,000. Guitar players whine to much.
@@stevenrayburn1938 but Steven...how many of them do THEY own??😂😂😂
My neighbor has over 80 guitars! I am a lightweight compared to him..but..I Do have another 3 on their way to me right now in the mail.😂😂
I LOVE my wife!! Once we paid off our house, she didn't give a damn what I buy! (Never did really..but I felt guilty..every time I bought another one... I'm glad that feeling is gone now.😂😂)✌️✌️
I really like the look of that fretboard...really unique. Great playing as always, Mary!
Girl..this is my dream guitar to play every single day..you're so talented thank you. Man I wish I had a guitar that sounded like that it's amazing.
you're incredibly talented Mary and this is a great video!
Top tip - if you're gigging with one of these, take a phone power bank with you. Even better, put some velcro on a power bank and on your strap, so if your battery dies you can carry on without waiting for it to charge.
Top tip #2 - In related news, with a £6 USB -> 9V adapter, you can actually power a pedalboard from one of those batteries. I do it with my board - keep a couple of £8 power banks underneath the board (one as a spare) for a total of around 7,000mAh at 9V, powering the board for about 10 hours and isolating it from the mains in one go, without spending £70 on a Volto and still risking running out of juice.
(note: the adapters you get from Amazon have the wrong polarity, so expect to do a tiny bit of soldering - just cut the cable in half, then swap the wires over and resolder)
Using battery power for effects also reduces the 'One Spot' effect: even more noise in the system.
Wow, that's actually pretty cool. Sounds so much better than I thought it would. Thanks for sharing.
Love this guitar!!! I really appreciate your videos and keep up the great work 🤘
It truly sounds like an instrument to inspire ideas (I loved when you added some dirt to the signal)!
I just realized I have never told you how much I enjoy your videos! Thank you, Mary!
Thank you Mary Spender. I’ve been waiting for this review.
Wow what an outstanding review. great balance of detail and sound examples. You excelled yourself on this one. Keep up the brilliant work and thanks a bunch..very helpful. Oh and nice songwriting!
Still can’t get over the fact how versatile this guitar is. And your playing is as always top notch! 😍🙌🏻
I've played it before. I really enjoyed it. I also love your videos. You're very talented and informed. Great content. 👍🏻👍🏻
I bought one after watching this review & others. This guitar is a work of art in every way. The svelte design is a delight to hold and fun to play. I put this guitar down then picked up my Gibson J-45 and it felt like a was playing a cello. The Acoustasonic is worth every penny & make sure you get the suburst.
Sounds really good when plugged in.
I’ve been holding out on buying one, but I’m sold now.
Mary! I love the song you sang! Your lyrics are really good too! ☺️
I had a chance to play one of the tele versions and I REALLY loved it. So lightweight and louder than I expected. I want one!
Really love the sound of Fender Acoustasonic! So innovative!
You are one of my favorite musicians and artists. I'm hoping I get to see you perform one day
Great going Mary, my I always thought it would be perfect for your style of music. You're fantastic, Jeff in LA USA
You're so lovely. Your voice is so smooth and relaxing. I love the album!
You buy a 2 grand guitar and only get a gig back out the box?
I bought a new American Strat Elite & it came with a very nice, very sturdy case.
These are not really "gig bags". They are soft cases that have a great deal of padding. My Taylor came with a soft case that has steel plates inside of it and I have flown all over the place with it. Padded soft cases are definitely doing their job well.
@Danny Stowers Ha, I bought an American Lone Star Stat for under two grand, and it came with a hard case! In 1998.
I bought a Mexican lacquer strat and got a tweed case.
i have 10 hardcases, i really dont need more taking over my house.
Glad my new PRS came with a gigbag too.
Another amazing review with a beautiful song and a beautiful voice & guitar performance. Thank you ;)
Looks like a neat guitar. I've been pondering hybrid acoustic-electrics as a travel guitar when weight and size are concerns. Kiesel builds a headless guitar similar in style, although without the fancy electronics.
I like your videos so much your review is so detailed and you play really great and you sing great too.
Wow, just stumbled on your channel. Great review and AMAZING voice and playing, Mary.
Love the indie-poster on the background...! ♥️
I'm definitely interested in these. I remember some companies(fender included, I think) trying to do a similar thing when I was just getting into guitar 2004ish and they failed miserably. These look promising. Nice work!
Man that sounds is unreal for an acoustic. And I thought it was just a stratocaster in shape, but those pickups are spot on.
That is a sensational review, thank you Mary.
Awesome instroment in your capable hands.....i give you props.....
Finally :-) I have the Tele version but like the sound choices from the Strat.
woah i love the purcussive effects you can get
Thank you for the. very informative video!
That resonance is surprisingly full and highly satisfying. Super versatile, indeed. Also a very good looking instrument, if I may.
Fender is an acquired choice.
It always will be
The name Fender Telecaster sells it.

When they learned that he set them on fire the answer was obvious no !
Fortunately, the left handed genius made the Mustang

As well as extremely rare $$$
Definitely a versatile instrument! I would love to have one of these specifically for looping.
You never fail to disappoint Mary. Keep up the good work. Love from Denmark.
I think you got that first sentence backwards, lad.
Just great job! You keep on pleasantly surprising me. 😘
Awesome piece of kit :)
if theres one artist this guitar fits i think it's Mary spender
Good afternoon Mary! I recently tested one of these guitars at a music store. The guitar had just arrived and had just been tuned before I arrived. The salesperson knew just a few of the details about these guitars, they also had the Tele version that I had already tested on my previous visit. I first tested it through a Fender acoustic amplifier and tried out a variety of different settings, I then took it to the electric guitar testing area and tried it out on a couple of electric guitar amplifiers. I found it to be a comfortable guitar to play, with a wealth of sonic capabilities. The one I played had the same finish as the one in your video, and it comes in a few other finish options, I personally like the natural finish like the one you demonstrated. I believe that these guitars have a lot of potential and are similar to a guitar they were making 15 or 20 years ago, those guitars disappeared from the local music store and I seen one since. These new acoustisonic Stratocaster and Telecasters seem like the more modern interpretation of the earlier guitars Fender were building. I would like to add one to my collection. I am a little disappointed that it comes with a gig bag and not a hard shell case, but I currently do not have one in my collection and it would expand my sonic capabilities tremendously. Thank you for posting this video! Please have an excellent and awesome day! 🙂
The telecaster acoustasonic demo at Andertons was amazing done by Lee and Danish Pete! Those two seem to be able to make magic music together! I’m sure you’ve seen that video! Thanks for the demo. I think all of the different voices are subjective with either guitar. I play a little but not very well. Mostly electric on a Fender strat.
Excellent vocals! Nice guitar.
@6:40 it reminds me of Yes ... can just see you using it to play intro to Roundabout !!!
Amazing guitar and vid, great job
Mary - Thanks for the demo. For a traveling pro who has to make up sounds on the spot to fit into the mix, this might be a "do all" instrument. Especially while experimenting in a writing session. I can see a lot of "What about this ..." scenarios coming out of one of these. Even if the eventual sound recorded is an actual Martin or something. Great for experimenting. Lighter and obviously easier to play for hours standing. I suspect it will end up as one of Mary's gig guitars. Seems to fit her style well.
the guitar is purely amazing, the tones are just right
This video was awesome 🧡
Beautiful song! Nice guitar 😊
Your music / loop is amazing
Ich liebe deine Videos , du bist eine großartige Musikerin ...!!!!
Mary, you have a beautiful voice and play well. Love the song in this vid.
Thanks for the review, I was going to buy one of those but will stick with a standard acoustic.
Loved it, thank you
Love the Tele version. Can not wait to try the Strat.
Yay!
Que instrumento glorioso !!! Realmente muy lindo e suena de 10 . SALUDOS!!!!
That axe looks good, and it complements your voice nicely.
It may also be useful for those who like to play at home in their bedrooms without and amp or with something like the Grid "Spark" it has classic Fender sound . Thank you so much for the critique .
Beautiful guitar !!
I'm waiting for a Rickenbacker that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Like my electric Strat.
I've seen this concept way earlier. In the mid to late 80's Kramer had the Ferrington. That was a fantastic instrument as well. If I ever do get my hands on another one... I may "borrow" some of the tech. But this Idea was done before.
I gor the Tele version. Also got regular elite Tele and Strat. I cannot quit playing mine. It is best thru a Fishman Loudbox amp. I only use the acoustic switch positions. If I want electric sounds, I play the others. This one is special. Absolutely special. Had it a year now.
I bought the Tele version (natural - just like yours) merely a week or so before Fender annouced the Strat!
Awesome performace!
Súper... !!'Saludos desde Colombia..
Even tho im more into the BROOTZ djenty stuff, its refreshing to hear you. Great playing and singing.
I love your thumbnail faces (like the carbon fiber guitar one). Keep up the good work, Mary!
beautiful guitar!
Mantap ukhti Spender.. Next time beliin aku satu fender accoustasonicnya ya 🙏🙏 Makasih ukhti 🙏🙏
I want one! Thanks!
Love it. Want one.
Excellent Audio! Not sure what you are doing... but pretty sure your audio is better then most/all others on UA-cam I have heard... specifically while you are playing your guitar, not sure if it is just really well equalized or something else.
Love the song!!!
Nice review Mary. Good job!
I think it suits the singer/Strummer of a band. In fact it was um, Def Leppard I saw the singer with a telacoustic. It worked really well.
Funnily, even though I play Strats rather than Teles I prefer the Telacoustic...visually at least. I feel the Tele shape represents what sort of instrument this is: much more Strummer than shredder!
"Mod knob."
-- a rocker
It's a mocker
I love that colour!
you sing and play very good. Thx
