      @billkikstra2225 you may be thinking of a container stacker. It has a mechanism that uses the quick attachment points on the container and grabs it from the side. The container grabbing mechanism sits where the forks would be on the lift.

    I am a certified forklift operator, and I’m pretty good myself. This guy is pretty good at what he does. The fact that he caught the load and lowered it safely to the ground without tipping, falling or breaking or causing any damage was the fact that he knew not to panic. He went with the waves, took that load down safely let it fall safely and then redistribute the weight on him on his fork blades and then picked it up again. This guy is a pro. i’m a yard guy that loads these containers on to trucks, both loaded and empty, with a forklift like this and something called a top lift. this container was empty. if it was loaded it would crush the ball bearings in the lift boom. almost all 20 foot containers have 2 slots in the bottom for forks like these, but almost no 40 foots, like the one in the video, have them. i’ve moved plenty of 40’ cans around like this and let me tell you it’s sketchy at best. this guy is far from new. i’ve been doing it for 2 years and i’m confident, but not ballsy like this guy. i’ve trained new guys to drive them and even previously forklift certified operators are slow. props to this guy.

      @kugelblitz1557 Рік тому

      Yeah...about the two tons...two tons is like how much the forklift weighs. That container probably weighs closer to, I dunno, 50-100 thousand pounds if it's not empty.

      @@kugelblitz1557
      Or you could just google how much an empty 20’ container weighs ... you get different figures but strikingly similar, somewhere close to 5000 pounds.
      Trying to guess what a full container weighs is just too difficult because a container filled with toilet paper versus one filled with steel parts is not identify-able from looking at the exterior.

    • @kugelblitz1557
      @kugelblitz1557 Рік тому

      @@OnTourWithPattiSmith the empty container is two tonnes roughly. I said nothing about that. I said the forklift weighs like two tons and assuming the container isn't empty then it's probably 50-100 thousand pounds. Not 50-100 pounds. And yes, you can't guess it too easily but that's a small end load for a big rig so I guessed it's probably about that much.

      Payload capacity of a 20’ container is 25,000 kg / 55,126.9 lbs ... which means your guess up to 100 thousand pounds is all imaginary.
