My great grandma was a huge fan of Oswald. She immigrated to the USA to watch some of his shorts.. she even had an Oswald toy. Sadly, she passed away in 2016 and my grandpa found her toy in her room and got it for me.. it was a bit dirty but it was fun to play.
Man I could hug all of the people involved in this short☺️💙 I really hope this will mean we get a new Oswald series! The short is doing great right now, in terms of likes and comments!
@@Cartoonist113 In those Looney Tunes retrospective videos he always cracks up. That shows you he has the robust sense of humor necessary for animation.
Not only do I hope to see Oswald again in more new material, but I hope to see all of his surviving Disney-produced shorts and the surviving Alice Comedies on Disney Plus sometime next year. That would be such a perfect 100th Anniversary thing for them to do!
It’s nice to see Oswald is back again that he deserved any attention. I even recognized him when playing Epic Mickey on my Wii system. I’m definitely be watching his new shorts and hope if Disney had more plans for him to come.
I know you don’t do video games but you should take a look at epic Mickey 1 + 2 they both feature Oswald as a villain turned hero due to the bitterness he had against Mickey for “taking his thunder” I had no clue who he was until I played it as a kid and seeing your video about him years later was like a shocking throw back for me. 10/10 would recommend playing
I was SO HAPPY to see the short. He's easily my favorite Disney character. There's a reason why he's in my profile picture. Not to mention that Oswald's Evolution was the first video I saw on this channel
Now we need Oswald The lucky rabbit in Kingdom Hearts 4. The creator of the series: Testuya Nomura admitted that he’s been trying to bring him in the series but Disney refused so I’m sure he’s excited about this new cartoon
I get the feeling they just do not know what to do with the character or to handle him in a way where he doesn't just come off as a back up Mickey Mouse. This sounds like a good first step into figuring out what they want with the character.
With Bob Iger back at Disney and the leads of the various studios back in charge of what goes on, I hope either he or Jen Lee will green light more Oswald shorts just like this one, or maybe even more Mickey shorts in the vein of Mickey in a Minute.
but Bob Iger was the one to say in his biography that Disney studios would no longer be creative; that he would buy other studios that would be more important. He was also the one who canceled the new Oswald show, laid off hundreds of cast members years ago but told them they had to train their replacements first. It's a long list
Let’s hope that after this, Disney tries to bring Oswald into the public conscious and push him as a major player in their lexicon of characters. Even with all the turmoil that the company is going through as of late, I would love to see Oswald represented in some sort of media (not just as a one off).
I have an Oswald Plushie in my room, before he officaly came home yesterday or a few days ago, i always spoke to my Oswald Plush saying "I never forgot about you, don't cry buddy, You'll be home again" and hugged it. I waited so long for this time to come and smile soo much from this!
I'd love to see more original cartoons of Oswald. I hope to see him on Disney Plus, there's an avatar picture of him but no cartoons at all. I have the Disney Treasures Dvd of Oswald and i immediately fell in love with those cartoons.
It’s nice that Disney acknowledged Oswald for the 100th anniversary! He’s what started Disney animation and it’s only fitting he’s helping to kick off the celebration!
I'm bingeing your utterly brilliant Evolution series. Please continue this good work. The Oswald content is hardly complete without revealing the deal the brought Oswald home to Disney. It was a multifaceted trade of intellectual property started with the "trade" of esteemed sports announcer and journalist Al Michaels from Disney's ABC ntework to Universal's NBC network. The dealing went on for weeks when Mr. Iger stepped in. It was reported loudly in the US that Al Michaels was traded for Oswald.
Nice job, Dave! You’re always on top of the latest info. So the Disney guys had the nerve to make this cartoon in black and white? Surprising, but great to see! They say kids won’t sit through anything that’s not color. I wonder how true that is with Oswald. He’s pulled off a lot of shenanigans in his checkered career, so it’ll be interesting to see how “lucky” Ozzy really is, and how this one goes over with young audiences. And of course, with just about any discussion of Oswald, the name Walter Lantz comes up. If you happen to find yourself in Hollywood, you can find the former location of Walter Lantz Productions. It’s on the Southwest corner of Seward and Willoughby, diagonally across that intersection from Todd-AO’s recording facility. It’s five blocks East of Highland Avenue. Lantz put the two street names together when they came up with a series of “Inspector Willoughby” cartoons, once seen on “The Woody Woodpecker Show”. They told me all about it when I was doing the voice-over duties on the series, “ESPN’s Muscle Magazine” there. I haven’t been to that location for some years. But at the time, the former Lantz building had been converted to a TV production studio. They were mostly making TV commercials there the last time I saw the place. Lantz’s own second-floor office was right over the corner.
Is great to see cartoon characters from Golden Age of Animation to make a comeback like Looney Tunes,Disney Characters and Tom and Jerry now Oswald and soon they might bring back to Felix The Cat out of cartoon retirement.
The year 2023 will mark a few of Oswald's earliest forays into the public domain in the United States. It raises the question of what precisely it will entail.
I would love to see a new Oswald cartoon, a new Oswald video game and another release of the original 1920's shorts with the other shorts that have been found since the last release added onto DVD.
Oswald is currently a Villager of Disney's Dreamlight Valley (or, more specifically, Eternity Isle in the Rift in Time Expansion Pass) a cozy game being produced by GameLoft.
While it's done mostly in 2D for Background and Animation, But there were also some computerized effects for the Character's Movements and some others.
Ilove this cartoon so much and the Christmas one that came out several years ago. If only they hadn't canceled his show on Disney+; i was really looking forward to that. You know what I'd like to see? Mickey and Oswald in a feature film: a big blockbuster loosely based on Epic Mickey where they meet, have a great adventure, and Mickey brings Oswald & his family home. Then build a ride for it. they could put it where Little Mermaid and those other empty buildings in Studios. And they need to give him meet and greets in all disney resorts.
I’m hoping they’ll give Oswald a voice (and maybe one day he’ll appear in a Disney Channel Mickey show! Like a Ducktales/Goof Troop/all mickey universe shows mix!)
Hey question, are you ever going to continue with your DreamWorks ranking series. I noticed that it has been awhile and I'm just curious. Don't know if anyone has already asked you too much but still.
Yes, as I have said to others, I’m waiting for the release of Puss in Boots. No point in releasing the videos then having them be outdated only a few months later.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder makes complete sense, and thanks for clarifying things for me. And thanks for making content that all movie fans can sit back and enjoy.

dave, what are your expectations for wish? the new disney animation movie coming out next year that will celebrate 100 years of the disney company and explain to me this story of the movie using 2d and 3d animation
The next time Disney does some major crossover movie, like Ralph Breaks the Internet or Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers (2022), I hope Oswald's in. He could just have a non speaking cameo
I enjoyed it as a throw back. But if they want to make the character stick around they need to find a way to move him pass “this guy we have from the 1920s”. What’s allowed other characters to last if their adapting with the times. I feel like you can only do so many throwbacks to an old style without adding anything new. Love the short. But he’s been back at Disney long enough to allow for a new take.
