- Having not seen her since RIAT 2012, and with 2015 being her last flying season, I was keen to capture Avro Vulcan no.XH558 in action at least once before she retires to her base at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, where she will be on display and occasionally perform fast taxi runs down the runway. Not being able to see her at Weston Air Festival last month, I decided to head to Yeovilton Air Day, to get that wonderfully characteristic howl. She certainly didn't disappoint!
We shall miss her once she's gone.
Filmed on a Panasonic HS900 with a Pro Sound L92AA microphone.
Enjoy.
The pilots ALWAYS gave such a loud, howling exciting display! Saw it 10+ times, always amazing ♥️
Saw one of these Vulcans at an air show at SAC headquarters in Bellevue Nebraska in 1974. Beautiful plane.
Wonderful sight and sound enhanced by great camera work. At least with railways one knows which direction they're heading next. Thanks...Alan
Very well captured of this famous plane ...soon to retire👍
What a beautiful lady 🎉❤
Great footage....This Plane will be sorely missed.
No it won't, people only see them at air shows now, that won't change...
@@zoidburg2975 he meant its retiring from flight. That was the last flying Vulcan.
F'king amazing.
Thanks for posting.
I got to see one as a kid at the DuPage County airshow in Chicagoland. I know one crashed there a few years later I think. Yep, it was 1978 at Glenview NAS. Anyway, shortly after that I was active duty USAF and rotated to RAF Mildenhall as C-130 aircrew they still had a squadron there in the early 80's. They used to taxi right by our ops. Such a beautiful aircraft. I don't know how practical it was (a la the US B-58) but it sure got my attention. Still doesn't top the SR-71 though, which I had numerous encounters with throughout my aviation career. Sigh. We don't build airplanes anymore, we build weapons systems, and we're not as great at building those as we should be either anymore because, drones. F-35 anyone?? I think the F-22 is a killer, but it costs a fortune. The F-15 is still the undefeated air superiority champ, why not just build more of them? I don't own any defense stocks. Maybe I should?
Great video - as are all your railway ones!
brilliant camera work!
great show phil o dell, the last time i saw a vulcan display
The only sound sweeter than those four Olympus turbojets has to be the sound of a single Merlin.
What a plane!
Oh for similar such quality footage of the Victor.
All the people watching this live , I consider them to be the luckiest people on the planet.
100 tonnes wow
Only the UK can make the best in the world
never heard of this aircraft..is it a British plane?
Ah, the sound of a bad morning for an Argentinian.
The Americans went for stealth whilst the British for 💩 your pants. That howl would have been the last thing you heard as that nuke went off!
We are the best in the world
Futuristic title: 11/07/15. Date of this comment: 10/1/15. Hmm...!
They use DD/MM/YY instead of MM/DD/YY; he meant July 11, 2015 instead of November 7, 2015 :)
Great display, the guy in front of the camera obviously was totally bored, even turning his back to the plane at 7.50 also didnt even bother to applause at the end !! why go to see it ??
