S5 CCF Galdereens feel really good on it, even against medium and heavy fighters. 75 shots per gun, 1800 m/s projectile speed, and only require 3 weapon power pips.
This, they are the best S5 laser repeater by far due to the velocity. DPS on paper is all well and good but counts for nothing if shots are missed due to low velocity.
I'll take galdereens any day. Projectile speed is very important since this ship is fragile for a heavy fighter. I'd would rather fight at range than dive in to get shots with guns that shoot slow flying rounds.
One reason that the ship is so vulnerable to missile strikes is because the power plants are so close, but when a missile hits them, the ship blows up. Which is as intended... CIG has previously said that destroying a power plant blows the ship up. With the Guardian's massive HP being mostly in their wings, not body, missile explosions does a LOT. Don't get hit.
EM missiles are bugged and completely ignore chaff right now in 4.0 preview. One size two is all it takes to destroy the guardian and you’ll be helpless to avoid it. Also the missile detection and missile type warnings are bugged on the guardian. Sometimes it tells you a missile is fired (70% of the time) and maybe you get to know what kind of missile it is coming at you (5% of the time). I’ve fought in it extensively in pyro at this point and if you don’t get the drop on an opponent or close the missile gap FAST and get into gun range then it’s an em missile on you & it’s over. Against anyone competent that knows the Guardians weaknesses you’ll never get a chance to sit back with Galdereens at range. You need to get within 0-1000m ASAP or you’ll get an undodgeable pitbull EM missile. In rare cases you can use terrain or asteroids to escape an em missile but with the low maneuverability of the Guardian good luck with that. As a guardian pilot I’ve shot down MANY enemy Guardians just firing one salvo of 4 task force ones or dominator 2’s hot of the rail at them. TLDR: Guardian pilots need to hit first, hit hard, stay on top of the enemy and close the distance.
The Power Plant difference will not get noticed until you face someone with disruptors. Would be nice to see someone do a video with a Guardian vs an Ion or Inferno.
I want to see ballistic weapons hit way harder but have less overall ammo. Make it worth running. Energy weapons have no downsides in most combat situations.
1:31 I understand the utility of easily shutting down components, but removing the power triangle for this 80s stile equaliser MFD was never going to be smart. Easily redirecting power to a swith of a button if the joystick was the way to go.
Nice test. Think the Attritions for PVE and Galdereen for PVP are good choices. Also out of curiosity, did you find that all the guns you purchased are still in your inventory after changing them or did they disappear?
Im going with Galdereens because of projectile speed, I guess if you are going for bigger targets thats not needed, but doing single seater pve bountys i find to be a pain in the ass with slower guns, at least in a heavy fighter
Yes, the QI variant. It should be noted that both variants can swap out their missile racks though. They both have the same maximum missile upgrade options.
@randlebrowne2048 doesn't one of them only come with size 2 stock missiles and the other come with size 3 stock missiles seems like it would be a downgrade if it's size 3 missiles to size 2
@brianv1988 The standard variant comes with 16 size 2 missiles stock; while the QI comes with 8 size 3 missiles. Either variant can change to the other's configuration; as well as possibly 4 size 4 missiles (haven't verified). Keep in mind that smaller missiles can lock in on targets at closer minimum ranges, as well as being more manuvurable. 16 size 2 Rattlers (or possibly 32 size 1's) can help with up close fights against lighter fighters.
@@mrvei-vg7et Yeah, it's similar to the QI's default skin; but, has a slightly different grey pattern and some gold lines and cockpit glass. Personally, I wish that the default QI skin could also be put on the standard Guardian.
@@mrvei-vg7et I thought that skin only had slight gold tints on it and was mostly black. The one in the video had more areas that were gold looking I thought it was the desert skin just the color grading made it look more gold than mine.
In my experience component health does not matter with the guardian. I got into a couple pvp fights and every time i died because of a single destroyed wing.
Ballistics are useless in the current meta. I have no idea what they are doing with this game, but it seems the only viable guns are the laser repeaters. How boring.
Using attritions doesn’t make sense because m7a performs the same, and its stock loadout, so you don’t have to pay more. For pvp 557 is the best choice for my opinion
Projectile speed is another very important stat to take into consideration.
Arguably the most important
Came here to say this
Not in PvE though really.
Who cares about PVE lol@@Crittek
@@AgnosiaAgnosismost players are doing pve.

yeah i miss a lot of shots with cannons even when full green on the pip, seems very funky with cannons. Galdereens i feel like i kill shit way faster
This, they are the best S5 laser repeater by far due to the velocity. DPS on paper is all well and good but counts for nothing if shots are missed due to low velocity.
Also having a more neutral pip means that you can make more meaningful manoeuvres to avoid being hit

Fight at range and you eat an EM missile and its lights out in the Guardian.

Very unfortunate that missile warnings aren't working rn...
@@Zaphod_ Yup. When they said a lot wasn't working, that was an understatement

Could you do a side by side comparison of the Guardian and Qi?
I want to see in real time the movement debuff of the QI see if it's worth it

The most important question is: do ERT have valuable loot/ cargo again?

Luv that paint, have it on both my G's, ship makes the perfect RV for exploring
Where do you get lumacore?
i accidentally found out about the lightstrike 5's in AC and it's an awesome mag dump canon

Attrition damage drop at range still a thing?
How do missiles work? I cant hit my target with them, they just fly straight.
You arnt actually locking them then.
@howitzer4393 was there a change? How do I lock them after aiming at a target?
@ listen for your ships to say missile lock. They changed it in 3.24
You'll see a complete circle around your target. Once it's complete and says missile lock, then fire.
@ alot of the time that circle is also just straight up wrong too
What about the loot Captain ?
Isn't there a different variant with size 3 missiles instead of size 2 and a Quantum dampener

That end though. Happens to the best of us. I'm not one of the best.😂
To avoid blackout, fly decoupled.
You should not use staggered fire with repeaters as it slows down the fire rate
Some reason for your ship that skin looks like it's gold but on mine it's like a brown/green color.

No pvp testing?
Yeah we’re the pvp testing in the video labeled PvE loadout test
Missiles are the biggest danger to components
Running 1 distortion and 1 cannon. Have you tried?
I wish we had size 5 railguns...
that ending though
Oof first comment! Hope you trialled the lightstrike cannons. They’re the fastest projectile laser cannons atm.
anybody else get downed by 1 rocket from an aurora? this honestly just pissed me off that i can be 1 shot by an aurora.

Attritions have significantly more dps than the m7a's since they buffed all the repeaters the patch before 4.0
