👦🏼 Creating Fine Motor Development Opportunities At Home.
📺 Full step by step instructions are available on our UA-cam channel Little Learners Education
🤏What is fine motor?
Fine motor involve use of muscles which control the small movements in wrists, hands, fingers and thumbs.
Why is fine motor important?
It supports the development skills such as using scissors, writing, drawing and self-care e.g. zipping and buttoning clothes.
🤏🏾For this fine motor activity we used:
Tin cans
Different colour rubber bands
4 containers
Method:
1. Place a selection of coloured rubber bands in a container.
2. Sort the rubber bands, into the four containers, by their colour.
3. Stretch the rubber bands and place it around the tin can, to decorate it.
4. Once the tin can is decorated in the rubber bands, have fun lifting the rubber bands, to remove them off of the tin can.
5. Whilst removing the rubber bands from the tin can, encourage your child to sort the rubber bands back into the containers according to their colour.
👨👧👦Extending learning through play:
Option: Create a homemade geoboard see the UA-cam video: • Little Learners Educat... . Geoboards provide many mathematical learning opportunities whilst developing fine motor skills and other areas of learning.
Please supervise your child at all times during the activity.
