- In this part I look at the the DCOs (Oscillators) and the various waveforms that the CZ-1 can generate.

Congratulations for this very nice video ! So well done ! 👍👍👍 Still, I was veeeery reluctant when I saw that you were using an oscilloscope (as you know, a spektrum is the only humanly understandable view of the timbre of a period of sound). But YOU WERE TOTALLY RIGHT !! In the case of the CZ, it was soooo interesting to see the difference between Casio's Drawings and the actual waveforms !!! And you even switched to the spektrum !!! 😃 I did not try an oscilloscope in the 80's, the waveforms were sounding more familiar than FM and I was FAR from imagining there could be a difference !!! You definitely did an excellent series on these CZ, BRAVO !!! 👏👏👏
Thanks
I have several different CZs, and a hardware osciloscope hooked up: i was always impressed just how accurate the waveforms are, including the square wave. Are you sure you didn´t forget about the DCW sustain? Sounds & looks like you have a slight envelope there, but not quite up to value #99 on sustain, thus resulting in an square/sine-wave modulation..?
I'll check. Thanks for letting me know.
thank you for this fantastic show and tell!
Glad it helped!
@@RunningonairMusic totally! I just read a paper about how PD worked and your excellent scope shots helped me translate what i read and what i saw on the front panel into how it actually worked. I build analogue modular synthesisers now but you never know what's in the future!
One thing I don’t understand: why do the waveforms change over time? I would understand that they change if you have enabled some short of envelope affecting the algorithm, but the goal of the video was supposedly to see the basic pure waveforms, so seeing they evolve over time makes it difficult to understand…
Ah, ok, I found your follow up video, in which everything is cleared: m.ua-cam.com/video/ZF1AFMeWue0/v-deo.html Thank you, I understand now.
Glad it made sense in the end.
Hello. What is the name of the software you are using to analyze the synths frequencies?
Hi, I use Soundcard Oscilloscope www.zeitnitz.eu/scope_en
Thanks
Hey, I just bought myself a cz 1 model but i kind of not get all the posiblities, I watched all your tutorials, is there a way I can contact you to solve me some doubts?
feel free to ask questions here. I can't guarantee I'll have the answers though. You can also contact me via twitter. Details at the end of the videos. Thanks.
@@RunningonairMusic It is probably a dumb question but as far as I understand you analysed on the osciloscope the original waveforms. Can I simply just get the original waves without the presets? Or how did you came up with those sounds.
Literally this synth is my first introduction to digital synthesis
Try the initialize button. That will reset each section to a basic state. It needs to be applied to each parameter section individually. Check the manual for more details.
