I love the sounds Risey makes, I have never honestly heard such vocal emotion from a horse. It’s just so touching. Risey is such a love bug, so heartwarming. Risey is also so gentle with Spidey ♥️♥️
I think RS plays more like a stallion (chasing games, pawing, squealing) whilst Spidey plays more like a colt, that's why he's so gentle with him. If Spidey had started exhibiting stallion behaviours, RS probably wouldn't have been as gentle with him but since both has been gelded, it'll probably be safer. I've seen several Warmblood geldings kick little stallion ponies, it's not really a good sight.
@@darn4285 I remember how much RS used to buck as a warning in the bachelor herd. Definitely a safer dynamic here, Yvonne was very smart to have gelded Spidey early. The accidental bites based on grooming a horse 10x your size and the boisterous nipping from Spidey are apparent, RS is being gentle because he's smart enough to know the difference between playfulness and aggression but he also graciously reminded Spidey who the boss is between the two 12:14. So I do believe this duo will work well in the long-term, though my fantasical self is wishing for RS to be one day in the mare herd and protect them like Pake Sjors, I know that can't happen but one can dream.
His vocalization remind me of Sjors, as his calls are also high pitched.
@@noelborden8787 Funnily enough that happened with both of them, I remember when RS was already a weanling around 6-7 months old, he went to nuzzle with Pake Sjors before going to the arena and bit him on the lip, that's the exact sound that I heard coming from Sjors lol. Such vocalists these two.

Rising Star’s wobblers seems to be stable. It’s noticeable when he trots & canters but it doesn’t seem to be any worse than it was when he was first diagnosed. Supplements & an equine chiropractor should keep it manageable for the foreseeable future.
Rising Star was so gentle with Spidey, even when he was being nipped. They will be great friends.
Bittersweet to see Uniek knowing what’s to come. Yvonne taking such good care of her & planning for care of her arthritis. The two of them were so fortunate to have each other.
Unique will be greatly missed. The ponies playing is so cute with the big ferocious dog.

There was one segment, when Uniek first adopted Risey, that Sjors makes very similar calls in that high pitch. It is unexpected because of their sizes.

I can't get over Risey's coloring. Such a rich chestnut color now. Very reminiscent of photos I saw of Risey's sire. Two handsome boys, Spidey and Rising Star. Think it would be nice for the two to become friends. After all, everyone needs at least one!
Risey's sire is bay. Cachet L.
His sire isn't chestnut, he's bay. If you are talking about the brown parts of both horses, their body coat, then his sire's is still much darker. His sire's body coat is darker brown while Risey's coat look more like a dark chestnut which is closer to darker reddish tint (not liver chestnut which is closer to brown, Skittel is an example of liver chestnut).
Rising Star is so beautiful and his sounds are so sweet. ❤
I think Risey makes those noises because he is so lonely and so desperately wants to have the physical contact with a friend. It’s a soul happy sound.
Having a similar illness, I know having a dear friend makes the pain feel less ❤🙏 for Risey! Visits are always appreciated ❤

I get a kick out of Spidey trying to groom Risey on the leg because that’s all he can reach😂
But Risey is not so down with having his kegs touched....go to the back ones, trouble about to erupt!
He is gentle, but not ready to be in the same space as Spidey, or the little ones...not yet...
For stallions, going for the legs is an attack move. They can be running pals, if nothing else! Slow introductions like you are doing, is best!
@@mermaid2014 Except it really wasn't that here, RS doesn't like his legs touched and has shown to swat whatever he considers harmful with his legs. Spidey was trying to groom him, he's never been with a horse as big as RS and therefore doesn't know how it works in this scenario, that's why most of the bites him were him trying to latch onto his legs, not really doing an attack move which is more of a constant nipping rather than grappling. Some of the foals at Stal H touched Risey in his sensitive parts, like his nose but he didn't attack them because it was harmless; something that's meant to be more of an "attack" move would be obvious, if the ones doing it are pinning their ears or not being agreeable to warnings but Spidey was listening to RS' commands. RS is very socially aware about these dynamics as he exhibits mature stallion behaviours.
Also, what you are seeing here isn't really two stallions going at it. Though stallions are obviously more dangerous, they are not as playful or boisterous as colts as they try to avoid physical contact as much as they can and play in other plays (pawing, chase games, vocalisations, pushing/herding etc). For stallions, it's more about keeping control of the other horses rather than playing with them. What we saw with Johnny and Bjarni were more how stallions interact, there are other examples in the channel like the *_Friesian horse, stallions/colts meet each other in the field_* video but this wasn't one of them, RS was behaving like a stallion but Spidey more like a colt which is why it was a more peaceful takeover where towards the end of their segment, he started taking control of Spidey by pushing him and preventing him from biting back when pawing/vocalisations alone weren't enough to dissuade those bites as Spidey didn't really understand what those meant since this is the first time a horse was behaving like a stallion instead of a colt to him.
I've been around horses for 35 years but have NEVER heard the noises coming from Risey! 😂 He's being so dramatic! 😅😊

Spidey & Risey were adorable together. It so interesting how expressive Risey is when he “talks” to his buddy Spidey.
I think the sounds Risey makes are so cute, he is such a lovely horse, and I love the snorts he sometimes does as well. It will be wonderful if Spidey and Risey can be friends and spend some time together. 😊

I love watching the boys interact with the horses. They are learning that life and death are part of life. They are exposed to disabilities in both humans and animals and that we love anyway. Such a wonderfully full life they are being exposed to on the farm. These experiences will greatly help them later in life. I’d say, you’re truly blessed.
When I look back with Uniek, she had issues. She couldn’t keep a foal or lost it shortly after birth. She had issues with arthritis as she aged. She was just so gentle and sweet to everyone. It was in her eyes. Not bad luck with horses. It’s life with horses. What beautiful memories you’ll have from her. Another horse is waiting for that new bonding as life goes on and our journey takes another pathway.
Uniek lost 2 foals before birth...Star in the preceding hours....and Twinkle Star was still born, prematurely....Uniek was not presenting any previous issues....
But Yvonne decided enough was enough...no more pregnancies for her mare....
It was too much for mare...or owner, should a third pregnancy end badly....

I think Risey was exclaiming in joy to have another horse to have physical contact with. They were so cute. I like how Spidey would rest his head on Risey.

When Risey and Spidey were investigating each other, and RS was making his baby elephant noises, I looked over at the fence and Bibi, Shiney Skittel and Puck were lined up just staring at the boys. It must be better than television! 🤩😆🤩

When you showed us Uniek, I felt like crying. Animals can touch us so deeply.
I was never attached to a horse as I was to Uniek. When hearing that she passed, I felt as though I lost a best friend. I cried a lot on different days. She was a treasure!

I think Rising Star just figured it would be a good distraction for Spidey...have a feeling Spidey was talking his ear off in the arena, about his jewels...it was like, RS dude, I know I had them, and Rising Stars like, dude you need to get over it, and move on...let's go for a trot...🤔

Risey's vocalizations are hilarious 😂 I'm thrilled he gets to be friends with the always friendly Spidey. Risey also looks so much better than when he first arrived at Stal H, and he's always flagging his tail and being such a happy guy. The ponies running through the Stal reminded me of tap dancers 🥰 and seeing Queen Uniek even though she's no longer physically here will always be heartwarming ❤ Continued prayers for Yvonne, Rising Star, and Glendy and beautiful eternal rest for our Queen 👑🙏🏽

Risey is being so gentle with Spidey. They are a good fit. Spidey can't/won't move all that fast and while Risey took a few odd steps, he seemed improved movement afterward.
Risey is quite a talker. And I think he enjoys having the company in with him rather than being alone all the time, even though he can see the other horses, this gives him something to do and Spidey too for that matter.

My horse used to make similar noises as Risey when she was young. I kept her for the first year I had her at my place with only two goats for company. I spent a ton of time with her and she became very talkative. Once I found a place for her with another horse for company, these vocalizations eventually faded and she no longer did them. I think in her case, being an exceptionally intelligent horse, she was trying to mimic human speech, just like some cats do. Once she was with another horse, she no longer felt the need to. I missed those cute little nickers and neighs, they were adorable ❤
Our beautiful Prince Rising Star has a wonderful gentle nature. It was lovely watching The ponies and dog running and playing gave me a much needed giggle 😂 very precious indeed

OMG my cats had the funniest reaction to Risey's little noises. They're both at alert & 1 is slowly walking around trying to find the source (he doesn't realize the sound is from my laptop). Every time he makes a new noise their heads swivel around & their ears go up. I'm just laughing at them. 🤣

Lots going on today! I love when the girls come to help groom and visit and play with the ponies! I also think Risey and Spidey are becoming besties! It’s so much fun to be in Stal H with all the action with the ponies playing!❤❤❤
