  • Welcome to Slew Living! I'm Esther and I sew stuff to support a slow sustainable lifestyle. A big part of sustainability is the willingness to learn, grow and change, so I love to explore different methods of self development along the way and thought I would share these with you too.
Usually I share sewing tutorials so this video is different! I’m summarising the 7 steps Roxie Nafousi has developed in her book “MANIFEST 7 Steps to Living Your Best Life”. roxienafousi.com/books/manifest/
I took these notes from listening to her podcast episode on KICPOD with Steph and Laura. kicapp.com/episode-284-think-...
I have experienced bouts of mental ill health, and fell into manifestation along my healing journey. I’m using these steps to overcome the critical voice in my head, and to embrace possibilities of living a big, creative, fulfilling life.
It’s my goal to be uploading weekly again so if you have any video suggestions feel free to leave a comment below, thanks!
If you’re starting to learn about sustainable and ethical living and how to curate a more mindful lifestyle, a great step is to learn how to sew. Mending your own items increases our appreciation for ‘stuff’, so I hope you find something on my channel to spark some creativity.

New subscriber here, new to sewing in general, first video I found of yours was the "mending a backpack" the whole reason I wanted to learn to sew was to modify my current backpack to fit the water bottle I use everyday. Your video on that was super helpful. I'm not ready to take that on yet, but I'm loving the learning process. I also want to make a sherpa fleece hoodie (jumper? Sorry I'm from the US). You have a video on that too! I guess what I'm trying to say is that your videos are extremely helpful and I am so grateful I found your channel. Thank you for all your hard work!

Thanks so much for leaving such a nice comment. All the best with sewing your backpack. I need to do a similar alteration for my little one's backpack since it doesn't fit her water bottle!

Esther I don't want to say anything to offend you but nothing in life is perfect. Everything has a good side and a bad side. We all have to conquer our demons. Life is very short. We should appreciate everyday we have on earth. Best wishes to your little family.

Not at all, I think if you haven't experienced mental ill health then it is difficult to understand why these critical thoughts in my mind are so damaging to me personally, and may not be so damaging to someone else. Thank you for your well wishes and yes! Trying to appreciate each day and be thankful :)

Thanks for checking in Helen :) I've been a lot 'better' since letting go of some unrealistic expectations and just embracing lots of imperfection!
