i must say, restricting what cars you can use really make you appreciate the hotwheels cars instead of maxing them and getting bored instantly. makes you want to have more and gives a sense of progression that is amazing
They probably testing progression, hope in the next forza it will be like that. Samething how the accolades were in the lego DLC and were used in the main game of Horzion 5
@@danielredziniak2996 i agree, i think the lego brick challenges were decent but missed in areas. though my game was bugged and i couldn’t expand my house even though i did every single one 😂. i hope they expand on this and in the next game add a system like this but way bigger, mexicos one felt very very short
@@danielredziniak2996 yeah the biggest thing that I can see that will truly elevate the fh5 experience is actual satisfying progression so that you don't have maxed out op cars within the first few hours of playing, but not making it as grindy as say Forza Motorsport but enough to make it satisfying. I love fh5 and I think its the peak of this style of arcade open racing game but imo Fh6 needa to change up the formula a bit.
I'm really glad their doing progression in the game, making people try out all the different classes and closing off the higher classes puts some difficulty and is rewarding for people continuing the dlc.
I think one of my favourite parts is that you can actually see the normal game’s map from the hot wheels track, they didnt hide it by using clouds or something
I’m loving this DLC. Forcing me to use different cars has been more fun than I expected. The sense of progression feels rewarding and IMO the whole Hot Wheels vibe with loops and big jumps and speed boosts just feels really fun. On top of that some of the cars that came with it are awesome! Like the COPO Camaro. Super happy with it and I’m still at expert so still got two more levels to go.
Just started expert not to long a go now that I have a force feedback wheel finally makes it more fun as opposed to being 2mi ahead of the pack every race with no feeling in your wheel
For me, the progression system in this expansion is vary much the type of thing I`d want from the next forza, and while you are barred from using cars from a class above whatever level you`re at in the career in freeroam, I honestly dig the idea because it actually makes you use lower class cars, and it forces you to be more strategic when chosing and upgrading a car, rather than just dumping all the best parts in a supercar and blaze through some races. Is also stops you from spoiling yourself with fast cars while cruising around, only to get used to the faster pace and find the initial progression to feel slow and boring. It also stops less experienced player from potentially feeling overwhelmed like they would if they jumped streight away into a fully upgraded hypercar and went exploring, rather than getting a feel for the driving experience in the slower and more managable cars first In terms of how the intro gives you basicly the best car and makes you do a bunch of crazy stuff during the intro section, only to than dump you into a basic car and keep you away from the more exciting set pieces, I have this to say: many, if not most NFS need for speed games are also guilty of this... most wanted 2005 with the M3 GTR, Carbon with the same M3 GTR, Undercover has you drive Porsche int the intro I think (might be misremembering though, it`s been like a decade), Shift with the M3 e92(might not be top tier, but still quite a bit above what you actually end up starting with) and, most recently, NFS heat with the polestar One (again, maybe not top tier kit, but still hella close... This is a common trope in video games of all sorts of genres (metroid, castlevania SoTN), where you are given a taste of endgame power at the vary start, only to be stripped of everything shortly after. I`m personally not super far into the campaign, but I have reached tier 2 (A class), and from what little I`ve experienced of it, you are gradually introduced new mechanics and set pieces of the map, as you progress in rank and speed potential of the cars. It`s also pretty normal for you to think that those early races just feel like normal fh5 races, because thay pretty much are (this is a racing game after all). Again, you`re racing fairly slow cars on the more tame parts of the map, so the game can only feel like normal FH5...
that campaign was nothing but annoying. if your gonna make a super easy, super pointless campaign (even on unbeatable) why even make it. took me 2 hours to complete it all andi only needed to restart a race 1 time lol. im all for a campaign and level system but if your gonna force people to do it, make it playable lol. it didnt feel rewarding, if anything it made me tired of the map already.
@@natenate33 I guess I must be a garbage player, because I struggled quite a bit on the first race with the rumble strips, and had to change cars a few times, in an attempt to keep up with the AI in a streight line, though I have always felt like the drivatar AI is cheap and their cars specs also sometimes feel unlikely and unbalanced (I play 1 difficulty below unbeatable). All the other races I`ve done have been fine... I guess the career sounds like it was short, but pointles?... Idk, but I guess I`ll have to judge for myself when I`m done, though I do appreciate the new cars being unlocked through progressing in the career. A can understand you already being tired of the map though, since it still doesn`t feel that massive, and it`s also pretty one note, so I guess you`ve already more or less seen everything there is to see. My opinion might be biased because of my frustration with the lack of progression ever since fh4 (FH3 had the exibitionan and championships, with exibitions being open to whatever and championships each having car type and class restrictions, which I liked), that at this point I`m just glad to have something, even if it`s short and pretty basic. Since it`s hotwheels themed and pretty much anything can be a hotwheels car, this is also the one intance where I won`t be mad that there are no car type restrictions in any of the events. My hope is simply that they will take the basic concept behind the academy, and flesh it out and turn it into somehing cool for the next game...

I think its pretty good that they introduced you first to one of the quickest new cars... That way it gives you a taste of what its like to drive fast in a higher class vehicle on a HW track... It makes you want to grind through the class rank events to be able to enjoy the better things about the game. Ofcourse driving a B class vehicle is pretty bland at first but the moment you enter A class it like a whole new experience and there are still 3 more ranks to go.
Exactly what I think about it, He didn't like it too much bc the speed on those cars aren't that cool right now, including it makes me bother in some level but I guess that it will be so cool only after the class raises
I just think this is the best Forza bit of gameplay I've experienced. I already had a tie for the base game with FH1, but this just blew it out of the water.
There's alot they did great and some things they missed the mark on. Progression: great. Everyone's been asking for it. DLC Cars: amazing. I've been wanting the Brahbam. Horizon Story: the VA for Haley nailed her lines. In the sea of horizon cringe narration, just hearing her super excited about the history of hot wheels and the hot wheels stories is great. The biomes: the biomes were greay but i wish the Nexus was more like a city hub than a flat plane. Goliath: spoiler for the goliath race. Average person will beat it in 5 minutes. There's not alot of flare, it was really quick and sort if anti-climactic. But they really nailed this DLC. Great for the ones who liked FH3 hot wheels, and amazing for those who couldn't experience that so they got the better version of it
Man i love this expansion, i don't know why so much people hate it, the enviroment is so fuckin beautiful and is nothing like the fh3 expansion, you can explore everything.

Sometimes I'm confused as to what Theo wants from a racing game. Like if Forza just isn't your personal bag because of the progression or the map or the handling model there's nothing wrong with that, but... just say that, lol. I'm not sure what to make of a critique like "I feel like I've seen everything there is to see" after 30 minutes. It's ultimately a racing game, not a theme park ride - aside from the intro "race" which is meant to show off the new bells and whistles. The meat of the content is racing against cars on tracks. That's a racing game. I'm with him all day on the desire for more real progression hooks in Horizon and the hatred of the annoyingly written NPCs who have no personality, but some of his other criticisms are nebulous at best. I feel like Theo's actual interest is in more arcadey NFS-style handling and aftermarket customization (body kits, carbon fiber and chrome), and less on the things Horizon focuses on - a wide breadth of cars, a more "sim-cade" handling profile (not quite GT or Forza Motorsport, but more realistic than games like NFS or Ridge Racer), and a more social-focused design.
Forza is the definition of instant gratification. I'm not going to buy this for a few months because everyone is always really positive for the first week or two until they just run out of stuff to do.
Can't play games like this anymore. progression when you are just running through a list of events/objectives gets boring quickly. I had a blast playing GT7 trying to get all gold medals on events. Everytime you have to retry an event you are getting better and that is real progression. Trackmania is another game that is great too because it is purely about driving skill and learning game mechanics. No car collecting or objective other then getting faster.
The cars are always what I buy the expansions for. The map is cool and all. But once I get those new cars, I can take the to the horizon mainland and I get much more milage out of them than I do out of the actual dlc map.
I think the progression is like a grind and it shows me that forsa is trying to compete with there competorsan pls theo can we see more of the expansion thank you for the great content you keep bring to us and keep it up

Solid 8.5/10 for me. Nice environment variety, sick car additions, love the sense of progression, and it’s freakin hot wheels, which is an automatic plus.
That dlc gets way faster the more you get thru the game and some of the new cars are insanely fun and fast try the hooligan Ford mustang it's more fun on the track than I thought!
Yes play more of the hot wheels. I’ve currently working on S1 class. There’s more to the hot wheels the the B class. As A class introduces some more fancy features and yes you’ll get more jumps and etc. If you keep playing I think you will enjoy it more
Also I don’t know what difficulty you play on but I’m typically on unbeatable but some races I did turn it down some. Lowest I will go is highly skilled. You’ll will enjoy the game more if you turn up the difficulty.
Honestly it's so fun to play. The progression System that unlocks more cars to drive and new exclusive cars as well and just the high speed races make this the most fun i've had with a forza game in a while.
Games do throw you into a fast car right away so that's nothing new. I mean the original Most Wanted game literally gives you the M3 GTR to drive and do races in at the beginning. Its just a way to give you something exciting rather than a grandad car and then make you work towards getting that thing by progressing the game.
@@nikerailfanningttm9046 No. The current form of progression ruined FH5. This type of progression will improve the game MASSIVELY and I pray they use it. FH4 Lego tested out the type of progression FH5 used so FH5 HW is probably testing this type of progression for FH6. Thank god.
I didn't play the og DLC in FH3, but I gotta say that this DLC is awesome and judging by the reception they really put a lot of effort into it to justify having Hot Wheels DLC again. The progression is great, there's a lot of fun challenges, the map is fantastic and pretty challenging at parts, but most importantly it offers vastly different experience than the main game. Way better than FH4 DLCs and a pretty high bar for the next DLC.
Really loved the Lego dlc, even right now there are even more Lego 8 stud wide cars that are more detailed but Hot wheels is Hot wheels this is the best dlc ever.
i managed to fly with the Urus right before the magnet track begins haha. if you have enough speed with it, i say around 300kph, you fly high :) i think this could be a glitch. it would've been so nice if there were spots on the tracks where you just can sorta glitch out and take shortcuts :D or the hidden car feature from Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing. guess i miss the old days a lot :)
5:58 the closest thing to this that I played is FM4 where you had classes and you had to complete events and have certain cars for said events, that being said, this seems like the same thing as Fm4 but in FH5 and with hotwheels lol
Not a bad dlc but can be wayyy better, like BRUHH hot wheels acceleracers anyone, drones vs racers could be a good one or the world race and if you win you unlock an ultimate car. Idk something like that
I played the entire story missions and it don't sound like a advert at all. Sounds like their telling you the history of hotwheels because it's a hotwheels dlc
Just got fh5 a few days before this update came out and I gotta say, the presentation of it all is amazing and this for sure looks like something that they were proud to make, this goes for not just the dlc but the game as a whole. The hot wheels progression is nice, you don’t have the best vehicles after a short amount of time in this expansion which I enjoy.
This dlc is cool and all but in my opinion we’ve seen it. The progression is an amazing addition that I would love to see expanded upon in later dlcs and other forza titles but this isn’t going to bring much life back to FH5. Don’t get me wrong FH5 is an amazing game but how many times can you drive the same cars on the same tracks. The events lab is cool but it takes away from the experience when there are unremovable hot wheel tracks all over the map. I don’t see this dlc getting over a couple of weeks of playtime.
I'm not really bothered with videos of them just doing races for the new cars, but I'd like to see videos on the new cars. it took me like 4 hours to beat the dlc start to finish
Was excited for hotwheels expansion because i assumed they wouldnt have any offroad crap. Of course the entire first set of campaign races are all offroad crap....
No differences between Mexico standard map and HW map: in both you can run at max speed through the road, asphalt, gravel, mud, water, sky... and jump everywhere with any kind of car. -.- Horizon series is becoming the most unreal car game ever made. Super Mario Kart is an Assetto Corsa chapter compared to this S....
For me it was over too quickly. I wish it had a longer story but clearly the forza team doesn't know how to write story they just gave us a hot wheels history lesson with no accompanying story.
@@siriusa5298 I remember that fondly. Games was broken at launch on PC, you literally couldn't get past the AMG-One part of the intro because the game would crash everytime which required you to play the whole intro again and again. Safe to say, it wasn't very enjoyable.

That's one of the things I didn't like because now with a big whole in the middle of the map it makes it harder to get around on the ground.

Yeah its an great expansion and the first horizon content since the second game where im motivated to do races and stuff
I thought this was good but I would not call it a better version. I found FH3 HW to be better than this.
Im having fun with this so far. Also the whole point of the story missions is go through the history of hot wheels. It aint an advertisement.
Considering how much time they put into the intro and how awesome they are, it’s a crime that they don’t allow us to replay them as a showcase event.
You actually can replay it as an expedition if you fast travel to the icon and click solo instead of fast travel

The magnet tracks prevent your car from falling off, or at best hitting the walls of the track.

Forza is the definition of instant gratification. I'm not going to buy this for a few months because everyone is always really positive for the first week or two until they just run out of stuff to do.
Can't play games like this anymore. progression when you are just running through a list of events/objectives gets boring quickly.
I had a blast playing GT7 trying to get all gold medals on events. Everytime you have to retry an event you are getting better and that is real progression.
Trackmania is another game that is great too because it is purely about driving skill and learning game mechanics. No car collecting or objective other then getting faster.
The cars are always what I buy the expansions for. The map is cool and all. But once I get those new cars, I can take the to the horizon mainland and I get much more milage out of them than I do out of the actual dlc map.
I think the progression is like a grind and it shows me that forsa is trying to compete with there competorsan pls theo can we see more of the expansion thank you for the great content you keep bring to us and keep it up

Solid 8.5/10 for me. Nice environment variety, sick car additions, love the sense of progression, and it’s freakin hot wheels, which is an automatic plus.
That dlc gets way faster the more you get thru the game and some of the new cars are insanely fun and fast try the hooligan Ford mustang it's more fun on the track than I thought!

Yes play more of the hot wheels. I’ve currently working on S1 class. There’s more to the hot wheels the the B class. As A class introduces some more fancy features and yes you’ll get more jumps and etc. If you keep playing I think you will enjoy it more
Also I don’t know what difficulty you play on but I’m typically on unbeatable but some races I did turn it down some. Lowest I will go is highly skilled. You’ll will enjoy the game more if you turn up the difficulty.
I don’t care what anyone says I’m at least happy this DLC was not a copy and paste

Honestly it's so fun to play. The progression System that unlocks more cars to drive and new exclusive cars as well and just the high speed races make this the most fun i've had with a forza game in a while.
Seems like playing first person and with a wheel would be the funnest.
I just played the beginning and I can tell you right now, I cannot wait to play more.

Games do throw you into a fast car right away so that's nothing new. I mean the original Most Wanted game literally gives you the M3 GTR to drive and do races in at the beginning. Its just a way to give you something exciting rather than a grandad car and then make you work towards getting that thing by progressing the game.
Haven’t played this game for a year now tbh since I got a PS5 for Christmas and GT7 on April 🤷🏼
Once you get used to it and if you ACTUALLY have time for completing hotwheels, its honestly easy and not much of a big expansion

@@nikerailfanningttm9046 No. The current form of progression ruined FH5. This type of progression will improve the game MASSIVELY and I pray they use it. FH4 Lego tested out the type of progression FH5 used so FH5 HW is probably testing this type of progression for FH6. Thank god.
I recommend making your most wanted Hot Wheels track in FH5; the track of your dreams.

I didn't play the og DLC in FH3, but I gotta say that this DLC is awesome and judging by the reception they really put a lot of effort into it to justify having Hot Wheels DLC again. The progression is great, there's a lot of fun challenges, the map is fantastic and pretty challenging at parts, but most importantly it offers vastly different experience than the main game.
Way better than FH4 DLCs and a pretty high bar for the next DLC.
Easily the best expansion to the horizon series so far. I wasn’t looking forward to it because of h3. But they knocked it out the park on this one.
Really loved the Lego dlc, even right now there are even more Lego 8 stud wide cars that are more detailed but Hot wheels is Hot wheels this is the best dlc ever.
i managed to fly with the Urus right before the magnet track begins haha. if you have enough speed with it, i say around 300kph, you fly high :) i think this could be a glitch. it would've been so nice if there were spots on the tracks where you just can sorta glitch out and take shortcuts :D or the hidden car feature from Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing. guess i miss the old days a lot :)
5:58 the closest thing to this that I played is FM4 where you had classes and you had to complete events and have certain cars for said events, that being said, this seems like the same thing as Fm4 but in FH5 and with hotwheels lol
You have to discover all the roads to get the hennessey venom f5
If you max out the event to X class you will unlock the Hennessy venom 2023

Not a bad dlc but can be wayyy better, like BRUHH hot wheels acceleracers anyone, drones vs racers could be a good one or the world race and if you win you unlock an ultimate car. Idk something like that

I played the entire story missions and it don't sound like a advert at all. Sounds like their telling you the history of hotwheels because it's a hotwheels dlc

Just got fh5 a few days before this update came out and I gotta say, the presentation of it all is amazing and this for sure looks like something that they were proud to make, this goes for not just the dlc but the game as a whole.
The hot wheels progression is nice, you don’t have the best vehicles after a short amount of time in this expansion which I enjoy.
They could of brought back a Rally expansion instead of this....we waited so long for this?

This dlc is cool and all but in my opinion we’ve seen it. The progression is an amazing addition that I would love to see expanded upon in later dlcs and other forza titles but this isn’t going to bring much life back to FH5. Don’t get me wrong FH5 is an amazing game but how many times can you drive the same cars on the same tracks. The events lab is cool but it takes away from the experience when there are unremovable hot wheel tracks all over the map. I don’t see this dlc getting over a couple of weeks of playtime.
To be fair, I think it's a bigger improvement than horizon 3 hot wheels in my opinion and I would like to see you play it again

I'm not really bothered with videos of them just doing races for the new cars, but I'd like to see videos on the new cars. it took me like 4 hours to beat the dlc start to finish

the dlc is so broken, I couldn't even get the expedition to work, it kept crashing until I set all the graphics to their lowest setting.
Was excited for hotwheels expansion because i assumed they wouldnt have any offroad crap. Of course the entire first set of campaign races are all offroad crap....

No differences between Mexico standard map and HW map: in both you can run at max speed through the road, asphalt, gravel, mud, water, sky... and jump everywhere with any kind of car. -.- Horizon series is becoming the most unreal car game ever made. Super Mario Kart is an Assetto Corsa chapter compared to this S....

For me it was over too quickly. I wish it had a longer story but clearly the forza team doesn't know how to write story they just gave us a hot wheels history lesson with no accompanying story.

Generally an nfs move like in underground 2 you get to drive rachels car im glad the progression is much better in the dlc

@@siriusa5298 I remember that fondly. Games was broken at launch on PC, you literally couldn't get past the AMG-One part of the intro because the game would crash everytime which required you to play the whole intro again and again. Safe to say, it wasn't very enjoyable.
@@lillexus5589 haha and when u got the game to work it still crashed randomly and friends were invisible. Nothing compared to anthems launch but it was still annoying
I loved and hated the car restricting and locking some cars behind a grindfest the venom f5 for example u have to drive all the roads
