I saw her at the old Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Hollywood for a Feast of the Holy Innocents holy Mass and pro-life candlelight procession, with Christmas caroling. She was introduced before the holy Mass started as one of the readers. This was in the 1980's. She was dressed in a red suit, and looked like she never aged. She still sang beautifully, too. A wonderful Catholic woman.
Any Blythe singing Come Holy Ghost is angelic.
Ann is a beautiful lady and talent. One of the very few that is totally respectable. God bless her!
Need to play this hymn in these times. God be blessed and thanked through her singing.
Ann Blyth, eighty-five years old and still going strong, she is that rarity in Hollywood, a devout Catholic, as demonstrated by her fifty-four year marriage to Doctor James McNulty, until his death in 2007, and their five children. She and her late husband were made Lady and Knight of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Cook in 1973 for their good works.
A true Catholic treasure of Hollywood. I usually see stars that were divorced many times. It seems so uncommon to come across one that stayed married to the same spouse. Same with her brother in law Dennis Day. Married once and had 10 children! Those two hold a special place in my heart.
A beautiful Irish face and superb singer.
Did I just hear an angel? There is a true beauty that comes from within that's not just another pretty face.
I need to mention that eye bumped into Ms Blyth at a magazine rack at a Miami Beach hotel back in 1970, when I was a hotel bellman. She was gorgeous.
An excelent soprano. She also started in the opera and went to Hollywood.
What a Beautiful singer and actress!🥰 A great Catholic women! We need more people like her now. *sigh*
God is love and omnipresent in all Creation.
Beautiful voice of a child of God! 95 years young! Amen
Ann is a wonderful example of talent and good example! We need actresses as she today! I have loved her since my parents took me to see her in The Student Prince. I have her paper dolls and pictures I saved from the movie magazines. She is a lovely, lovely lady!!!
beautifully sung by a beautiful young woman.
We sang this at my confirmation when I was 12 years old in Catholic church in Wisconsin....over 50 yrs ago.
They'd sing that in communion when the mob lined up for the wafer waaaaback then. No wine in those days. Didn't get the news that the RCC was loaded with pervert priests until a couple of years ago.
Roger Wilco may God have mercy on your dark soul. judge not to be not judged. perverts are everywhere just look around. you did not get the memo on the Host. the body of Christ not just s wafer. I will pray for you.
Don't lie. I bet you are a perv that's why you defend it.
Wilco inappropriate crap to post unless you are joking. The catholic (Universal ) is the poster bashing for all high and so-called believers. Its OK always the child abuse cases. He who is free from sin throw the first stone. God have mercy on you dark soul.
Roger Wilco . Let him who is WITHOUT sin cast the first stone.
Amen ! Thank You, Beautiful !
One of the best female singers at MGM in the 1950s, she was under-utilized. Of all the woman singers they had, she sounded the best of any of them, when you heard live singing. I had the pleasure of meeting her and her husband when she was in her early 70s. A beautiful, tiny lady :)
Mgm was famous for its musicals in the 40s and 50s was she in any of them.
I AM 78 SO REMEMBER ANN BLYTH WELL...ALWAYS WONDERED WHY SHE WASN'T GIVEN MORE CREDIT FOR HER ACTING AND SINGING TALENT...BEAUTIFUL LADY INSIDE AND OUT...UP THERE WITH JANE POWELL ANOTHER TALENT THAT WAS NEVER GIVEN HER DUES...
This is just superb! I love Ann Blyth, her talent, beauty and how closely she's always kept to her faith. This is a beautiful video, and would like to thank " familytheaterhcfm" for this elegant post! Also, many thanks to my beloved friend Susan who was kind enough to have sent this my way! This will be forwarded to many! I'm elated!
Today's great opera singer Aida Garifullina, reminds me of Ann's beauty and voice!

Beautiful
She was born in.1928 and is 93 now.
They used to sing this at communion in every Mass as people lined up to get that waffer. That was in the good {?} old days of the RCC. No wine in those days.
What YEAR was this filmed???
What church was this filmed in?
Unfortunately, I don't know. It's possible that the actual singing was shot on a set.
Hard to beleive her most iconic role was Veda, Joan Crawford's thoroughly despicable daughter in the movie "Mildred Pierce".
Recessional today. I prefer the accominment we had.
Was this song sung in the 1950’s ?
Yes, 1953.
A frenemy talked her into that hat
Beautiful!
